Here in the States these guys are known exclusively as the band that did Don't Dream It's Over, so it always makes me happy to see appreciation of the depths of their catalog. I was surprised to see Temple of Low Men relatively low, but like you said, when a band's catalog is consistently so high there's not much gap between the high and low stuff. Totally agree about putting Together Alone at the #1 spot though, that album has so much atmosphere and depth, and so many great melodies and enigmatic lyrical details. I guess all their albums have those but they're especially concentrated on that one.
Hi - your list is similar to mine, main differences that woodface is #1 and Intrigeur is 7. I too grew up with spilt Enz and also had the same reaction when I heard ‘mean to me’.
Hello. I just discovered your channel. I agree with you on #1. Together Alone my favorite album too and Distant Sun might be my favorite CH song. Take care. / Matt
Tough subject I’m with you on number 1. Cos it’s live n studio based with enough space and just the right amount of atmosphere: 1:) Kare Kare 2.) intriguer + consistent - single selection for international releases cause I like albums to draw in new fans of the band( but I personally think turn it around and the only way is forward should have been on there.) 3.) woodface very stylistically strong in just to over produced we needed a little bit more rawness 4.) dreamers are waiting, sounds fresh, uses all the bands talents in every area. Just song selection let’s it down some stuff from Lightsleeper should have been on here and vice versa we needed more of liams broodiness from goodnight everyone more of Elroy’s energy from love isn’t hard at all then Neil’s pop sensibility. 5.) Time On Earth I really like the feel of this album but just the some songs suddenly went against its organic flow 6.) Crowded House Great songs just uneven in a few areas but most bands would kill for an album like this still evident of a band with a bright future if only we knew Eh?! 7.) Temple of Low Men This album seems rushed to me in places however, there is some great songs, like I feel possessed and into temptation, which are quite revolutionary for the time and some great lyrical imagery. it’s a shame they didn’t have more time. I feel too double down on every song, choice and the live element of the band which is clearly here but it’s the inconsistency of the album the starkness of killer eye to the ground breaking mystery of the time of I feel possessed to classic songwriting like better be home soon coupled with the richness of into temptation makes the album it’s the lack of familiarity with in lowlands and some middle tracks that the band developed live which could have benefited here it’s the a feeling of frustration with all things crowded house that if only the music industry knew what it had same with Split Enz it’s the what could haves that make you wonder. All albums here are genius I’ll probably change my mind later
They’re a great live act. I’m missing out seeing them on n their current Australian tour cos they’re not coming to my city. Great songs and great banter.
I would mostly agree with what Maxwell’s Silver Channel said, though I would probably swap out the self titled Tim Finn album for Before & After. Neil’s solo albums are very good, my favourite is definitely Try Whistling This.
For sure, they’re not expensive (at least they weren’t when they came out) and they’re well worth the investment, for the packaging as well as the bonus songs, b-sides, demos etc.
My ranking below. Might be surprising to see the debut so low...the first 4 tracks are great, the rest is so-so and very dated sounding. Whereas Temple still sounds fresh to me. I LOVE Time on Earth and think it's only slightly behind the best of the original run; Nobody Wants To is one of Neil's best songs and I love the overall atmosphere of the album. Dreamers is quite good, a couple tracks like Start of Something or Too Good For This World stand with their best. Intriguer just never really worked for me, I have no desire to ever listen to it again. (fwiw Intriguer seems to be the consensus worst album on the fan forum) 1. Together Alone 2. Temple of Low Men 3. Woodface 4. Time on Earth 5. Dreamers are Waiting 6. Crowded House 7. Intriguer
@@bicyclelegsmusic yes but I have not payed much attention to the reunion albums to be honest. Must check them out. 2 other great albums no one seems to know about are the Finn brothers . Enjoy those albums alot.
I'd have Woodface at number one and Temple of Low Men at number two, their debut at three....then maybe Together Alone.....the rest in any order, they pale in comparison to the aforementioned if you ask me but admittedly I haven't heard too much of them....I do have Intriguer on CD and the LP of Dreamers Are Waiting which is ok.

Together Alone...one of the finest albums of the decade by ANY band. Wonderful video. Thank you.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! And I agree, Together Alone is an incredible album.

Mean To Me is probably still a top 10 Crowdies song for me.
Cool to see a prog rock fan who also loves Crowded House. Neil Finn is a genius.
I was a Split Enz fan before I knew what prog rock was!

Hi 👋 Going to see Crowded House Oct 1, 2022 in Seattle WA. Looking forward to it.
Good ranking.
Enjoy the show!

Funny how we all hear music different. I read that Springsteen heard temple and thought it was the album of the year 😮.
I wish I could've seen CH. I have a buddy here in Chicago that saw them open for Richard Thompson in the early 90s.
They’re a great live act. I’m missing out seeing them on n their current Australian tour cos they’re not coming to my city. Great songs and great banter.
I think you were spot on!
I only know the hits, however I might listen to their whole discography someday. 😄👍
Definitely start with Together Alone, cracking album.
@@bicyclelegsmusic I will do, thank you!! 😙👍
Spot on ranking.
Thanks!
hey BL love the new video...we have such similar tastes......what Tim Finn albums do you recco? I had Escapade back in the day and really liked it

I wish Try Whistling This would get a vinyl release. Preferably with all the bonus tracks from the 2CD version, cos I love those songs too.
For sure, they’re not expensive (at least they weren’t when they came out) and they’re well worth the investment, for the packaging as well as the bonus songs, b-sides, demos etc.

4. Time on Earth
5. Dreamers are Waiting
6. Crowded House
7. Intriguer

Hmmmm i got to say the number 1 for me has a 3 way tie. The 1st 3 .
They’re all great albums.
@@bicyclelegsmusic yes but I have not payed much attention to the reunion albums to be honest. Must check them out. 2 other great albums no one seems to know about are the Finn brothers . Enjoy those albums alot.
I especially like the first Finn Brothers album. It has a lo-fi quality to it that I really like.
