Thank you for such a kind comment and wishing you the most wonderful life you can imagine!
Warmest, aloha, Jim
Best tutorial I’ve watched so far on crashing waves!
Happy that you are enjoying what I offer to all. Enjoy! Jim
@@jimfreeheart you offer so much inspiration along with valuable techniques, after returning to sketching & painting after 25yrs of work & children I’m finally able to enjoy a lifelong passion of art. P.s I wish we’d had people who’d taught art like yourself when I was school age, it was simply taught & graded as if it was english or math lesson, even today I still don’t feel it’s valued as much as it should be within the school curriculum. Thank you for taking the time to make & share all of your knowledge with the world
Thank you for your kind message! I hope that you do delve into art after all these years! Your creative spirit is calling to you. Enjoy the journey! Jim
Love your tutorials. Thanks for sharing. I love the ocean and needed to have an instruction on how it is formed. This is the best one I have ever watched. Can hardly wait to try it out first with pencil and then in my medium of watercolor. I am just learning drawing and painting as a senior and grandmother. By the way I am left handed so thanks for the tips. Please don’t stop sharing your talent. You are a wonderful teacher also.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and words! I too love the ocean and can watch the movement for hours. Photos that I take have helped me to capture the motion and then I try to simplify what I see into smooth lines to make it easier for you folks to see and copy. I have a new simpler wave design using the letter "C" to create the wave. I hope to film and post the new one soon! Enjoy the journey and keep on drawing! Jim
This was such good help cause I was creating a leviathan scene and needed h4lp with the waves😊
Awesome ! Glad it was helpful!

Sir you are a good teacher. My first video on this channel, thanks for giving those tiny inputs, like the flow of drawing a wave in the same direction every time etc. These really help for people who are starting to learn. 😊
Thank you for your fine input! Looking closely at nature live or in photos is out best teacher, and I just do my best in my own way. Enjoy! Jim
Nature is OWR best teacher I meant to say!

Thank you! I really like waves and this is so beautiful 😊
Yes, Waves are so beautiful and graceful aren't they! I love to draw and paint them and can watch them for hours - such a meditation for some of us!
Thank u so much this helped me make a birthday present for my grandpa.
Thank you so much! It means so much to hear when my work is helping someone!
I see so many waves where I live and want to paint them but still haven't but now I will this week. I'm glad I found your site. Your tutorials teach me well. Thanks you
Thanks so much! I hope you keep on drawing and enjoy the journey! Jim
I had trouble figuring out the motion you were using for the splashing parts, so if you could explain that better it could help. I got it after I adjusted my hand. Also if you could do a tutorial for coloring the wave with colored pencil or acrylic that would be great.
Thanks for your suggestions... I've been thinking about doing a short on painting waves. Hope to have it on my channel soon.
Aloha, Jim
GREAT help in the anatomy of a wave.
Happy to be a help!
Pretty good tutorial but my hands don’t get the memo
tried it...with a number 2 pencil. Looks kinda like a wave but more of a scribble scrabble mountain with stiches.
I just now saw this comment... Hope you just keep going and get a darker drawing pencil when you can. I does help using
the nice smooth smudging! Enjoy!
Jim

You are a great teacher. Thank you for making this feel easy…. With a bit more practice and a graphite stick i will get there
You are so welcome! Keep on trying and when you complete a drawing look for the parts of your sketch that worked and carry that with you into your next drawing! Jim

Hi! Thanks so much for the amazing video! What are you drawing with? Is that a pencil?
Yes - A "woodless graphite pencil" 4B, 6B, or 8B for the darkest smudge-able drawing. I buy from Blick.com
Koh-I-Noor Progresso Woodless Graphite Pencils and Set
Koh-I-Noor
4.9 out of 5 stars
These are the best brand for me!
@@jimfreeheart thanks so much!
I like your pencil. can you tell me the name of your pencil...
Yes, sure... It is a 6B Made by
Koh-I-Noor Progresso Woodless Graphite Pencils ( I get them from Blick.com) 8B are even darker and more easy to smudge!

Thanks Adam! I hope you are learning some from the channel! Aloha, Jim
@@jimfreeheart man you have changed my whole perspective i started a series of wave angles thanks mate
instructions unclear my brother is insulting me
If you want to, try it a couple of times more - do not show anyone - just do it for you. I think you might get a little better - takes time. Good luck!
When he was doing all that I thought what was he doing but at 4:18 in the video I saw it
Hope these videos have been helpful! Jim
Thanks Jim. I did pretty well but not near yours lol
Glad you tried it! Remember I have drawn/painted thousands of waves! Do it again and you will keep improving!
@@jimfreeheart You are very humble man Jim. Thank you, looks like ill be watching this video 999 more times lolol
@@nickh3148 Thanks Nick... enjoy! and have fun with it all!
Remember to get the lines clean and graceful, turn your paper at the best angle for your hand to easily make the curve!
you are great great great great:))))))))))))))))))
I don't know you but I know that you have greatness in YOU!
Doing little things with great passion! so fulfulling!
Enjoy... and keep on drawing! Jim
the foam was really hard for me though
If you look at my drawing clouds video and draw small cloud-like shapes and then add some little dots it might help to make foam! good luck! Jim
I did di a newer tutorial focusing on "the Foam' - called "wave study- How to draw the foam on a breaking wave" Hope it helps! Jim
My teacher gave me a project to draw tsunami this helped me a lot
Happy to hear it! Enjoy, Jim
your name is great
Thanks - It puts a smile on my face when I feel the meaning of it! Enjoy! Freeheart
My hands struggle to recreate it
Not sure what your challenge is primarily... but I have found that by rotating my paper at different angles my hand can more easily draw certain curves naturally. I am right handed so my sketches are done with the crashing wave curving off to the left side of the paper most of the time. If you flip the page upside down at times you can make the smooth curves easier. Just try again... maybe even drawing the shapes I am showing you as an exercise to copy shape - not drawing a wave. (This seems to help remove the mental block we might have about drawing something or other)
Keep on drawing and have fun with it!
Feel free to try it and let me know if these ideas help!
Thanks Jim
Try drawing lightly at first... remember you can turn your page to draw different parts of the drawing...Turned a certain way a curved line becomes easy and natural for your hand. just try doing that and you'll see a difference!
Enjoy, Jim
This helped me for Art Class. :)
Super glad that it helped! Feel free to use videos with entire class. Elementary school classes is where I created many of these videos!
Fantastic! Many of my tutorials were filmed in art classes! Enjoy the ride! Freeheart
gog
Please teach me
Just keep trying and do your favorite video 2 or 3 times and see if it gets easier! Good luck! (remember to turn your paper different directions in order to make drawing curves the easiest for your hand!)
@@jimfreeheart thanks may God bless you can l have yours number
Bro I didn’t get anything you did and you go to quick normally my drawings are good by watching a video but it just went to scribbles because of how fast you went I even paused it and all together it looked like an eye that had a horrible day with trash makeup
Sorry that It did not work for you! There are some other easy "How to videos" on my site like how to draw a dolphin. Good luck and keep on trying! My earliest drawings were really bad. I've been practicing for 40 years and I still keep on learning.
.
Hope you enjoy the videos! Jim
Bro this sucks how does mine look like crap and y’all’s look amazing this is just a horrible tutorial
This might be about my thousandth wave drawing! If you stick with it over and over you'll get better and better! Good luck! Have fun!
