Years ago, I was hiking at a environmental location between Dallas and Tarent county in Texas. I was 7 mos pregnant and just needed to hike to clear out the mental cobwebs. As I was hiking and enjoying the sunshine I noticed movement in the trees on the hill above me. As I continued hiking I noticed that the animal in the trees and brush above me was shadowing me. I saw the animal following me was a large male coyote. (Biology major) He was beautiful but I knew that I would never be able to outrun him. I found some stones and a large stick and began yelling trying to make myself appear larger (like being pregnant was not large enough 🙂). I was able to return to the check-in offc. at the center. I shared my experience with the biologist on duty and he said he was concerned when he saw I was by myself and pregnant. He said I was probably high on prenatal vitamins and should have just hiked the short trail for the kiddies. When you are hiking and enjoying the scenery you still have to be aware of your environment and the creatures that call it home. End of bedtime story lol.🙂
I live in an area with lots of Coyotes and I have to tell you they're very shy creatures. They would rather run away than cope with you. The only time they act somewhat aggressive by growling or crazy behavior is when they have pups in their den. Hiking in the desert with my dog, without realizing it, we had walked really close to a Coyote den, when out of nowhere a coyote showed up and lured my dog away. He came back home about a half hour later, tired but unharmed. He was my true desert dog, afraid of nothing, scarred as a pup by a rattlesnake bite, and he even removed his own Cactus stickers from his feet.
Most coyotes will not stalk a human. We are bigger then they are and they would rather not stalk and be injured by large prey. And yes have to out smart your food. When you have to stick you nose down a hole to see if a chipmunk is in in it then you understand why they are so clever.
I have a forest preserve about a mile away with a state road on the other side of the preserve. Ambulances and other sirens make the whole pack go nuts. It basically pings the entire park.
One time coyotes were howling at night and my friend and I lit roman candles (fireworks that you hold in your hand) and started howling back at them until they stopped. This was at 1 in the morning
Use to live by a huge corn field when I was younger. Let me tell you hearing a coyote pack howling and screaming at night is very unnerving. I remember seeing them sometimes around our back yard bc they would try to snag neighborhood cats.
They look like a cross between a wolf and a fox. Can't understand people's dislike for such animals - they're beautiful. @@zerotoleranceforsataniceli4794 Yes they are marauding lions when they grow enough numbers, something they do very quickly. And they become a true menace to farms and rural pet owners. like they understand that lmao. they're wild animals, and they're gonna take what they can get. it's up to the owners and farmers to set up stuff to prevent those incidents, the animal is their responsibility.

Title: “One of the wild dogs you didn’t know existed”
Narrator: ““One of the most recognized animal in NA”
Which is it, damn it?!
I was thinking the same thing
Clickbait, duh.
As a person that lives in the south I can indeed say we see lots of these puppers
A coyote is basically a mini wolf.
The northern coyote that most people recognize is actually a cross between wolves and true coyotes
A much smarter, faster, skilled hunter and adaptable animal then the wolf
I think of coyotes and wolves as the jack of all trades and master of one versions of each other. They're enemies though.
@electricay true. Coyotes are also enemies of foxes. Coyotes in eastern usa are double size of Midwest Coyotes. Eastern Coyotes I've heard from ppl can way up to 60 or 70 pounds.
Coyotes when they see a Chihuahua named Fifi: It’s showtime
If you didn’t know the coyote existed either you live in a country without them or, you’re living under a rock.
They have an adaptable diet like humans. True survivors.
They're cute like a fox-wolf hybrid
I’m listening to them right now at 5:30 in the morning 😮
Eh, why are you not asleep lol
“The wild dog you didn’t know existed?” Who doesn’t know coyotes exist?
Anyone young who grew up in the city... dur.
It's a surprisingly well kept secret
They love to run around our cabin in Alaska at night
Kinda creepy
They have been known to attack humans as well, so I'd say be careful especially if you're alone, these things are very intelligent
@@tullo5564 yeah, thankfully I’ve never been outside with them. Especially a pack.
Well they stalk and attack people in my urban area.
Most coyotes will not stalk a human. We are bigger then they are and they would rather not stalk and be injured by large prey. And yes have to out smart your food. When you have to stick you nose down a hole to see if a chipmunk is in in it then you understand why they are so clever.
One of the things that the video does not mention about coyotes is the fact that they can also climb trees and fences.
I have a forest in my backyard and they howl like CRAZY when they successfully hunt or when there’s a train coming
I have a forest preserve about a mile away with a state road on the other side of the preserve. Ambulances and other sirens make the whole pack go nuts. It basically pings the entire park.
You forgot : "Coyotes Love ACME's merchandise"
Pro tip: The dogs in the wild are free
Had a Malamute/Shephard/Collie/Cayote mix. Very smart and beautiful dog.
Pics?
@@morellawalker373 Sorry, it was 40 years ago. I don't have any.
Who didnt know coyotes existed?
I love my 'Yotes. When any siren ignites, I'm always stunned how close they are!!!
Title: “Wild dog you didint know existed!”
Video: “Widely know in North America”
Heard my coyote neighbors about an hour ago. Almost every nite.
My great pyrenees dog always tries to fight them from behind our fence
Damn! I now realise they literally look like a perfect mix between a wolf and a fox. A folf! 🦊🐺
One time coyotes were howling at night and my friend and I lit roman candles (fireworks that you hold in your hand) and started howling back at them until they stopped. This was at 1 in the morning
lmao
Use to live by a huge corn field when I was younger. Let me tell you hearing a coyote pack howling and screaming at night is very unnerving. I remember seeing them sometimes around our back yard bc they would try to snag neighborhood cats.
They look like a cross between a wolf and a fox.
Can't understand people's dislike for such animals - they're beautiful.
If they are good hunters then take good care of your chickens as anyone should whether you have local predators or not.
Buzzards & eagles can can take your chickens or pets too.
Live and let live isn't a common motto for humans.
Because they get in your trash, attack pets, and you won't think they're very majestic when they decide to howl right outside your bedroom window.
@@rosesweetcharlotte
I think I would.
You have to be careful with pets in the city from traffic, dogs, people stealing or harming them.
There are ways of securing a trash can.
I put out my left overs for animals. Not cooked bones.
@@zerotoleranceforsataniceli4794 Do you underestimate how much damage coyotes could do to your pets and property?
@@SpaceMarine500
I've answered that already.
There are ways to minimise damage and loss of pets.
The human attitude is that animals don't have a right to live the life they were born to.
You and others speak as if there are marauding lions - maybe the odd one is but I don't believe it's the threat you & others make out.
@@zerotoleranceforsataniceli4794 Yes they are marauding lions when they grow enough numbers, something they do very quickly. And they become a true menace to farms and rural pet owners. They reserve the right to shoot coyotes and forcefully cull populations. They are literally pests on account of how much they breed as a predatory species.
That coyote trampling on the walk way is like "hippity hoppitiy this neighbourhood is now my property" 😂
Can you do tardigrades
Coyotes seem to be a cross between wolves and foxes, as they appear to have similar attributes from both.
Dollar store wolf
Nah
More like wolves are coyotes on steroids.
@@cpt.s.seiden true. What would a dingo be?
Nope coyotes are actually better survivors so I’d say wolves are dollar store coyotes
Now I wanna adopt a coyote
Hunting for your pets and livestock.
like they understand that lmao. they're wild animals, and they're gonna take what they can get. it's up to the owners and farmers to set up stuff to prevent those incidents, the animal is their responsibility.
-Coyote packs start howling, growling, and fighting -
The wolves: 👁️👄👁️
Coyotes are the next canine to get domesticated after the wolves.
Misconception, we never domesticated wolves. Look it up.

Who the fuck doesn’t know coyotes exist lol
Europeans
@@jeffreymodesitt3345 I suppose, but they are still popular animals in literature
Coyotes also howl to find out how many other coyotes are around. If there’s a lot, then they’ll have smaller litter sizes, if there’s not many others, they’ll have larger litter sizes.
Coyotes seem to yip more than they howl.
Unless they are coywolves like up in the Northeast…and they are a lot bigger too
Very intelligent, I've met a couple, while walking through the unhabittate area. Still feel sorry for bothering them
Gorgeous beasts
What do you mean "didn't know existed"?
I'm also confused. Everyone who watched Looney Tunes should know what a Coyote is.
I see coyotes in North Florida
They are actually quite handsome
I love my coyotes. 💖
R.I.P.NIMBUS for those who don’t understand search rip nimbus
Coyote means wild dog or wolf??
I've heard that they attack dogs and kill them.
Maybe small dog's, not Pitbulls
Dogs are just wolves 2 and wolves, like humans, are for all coyotic purposes serial killing maniacs who would love to devour children
Don't feed them!
My dad hunts coyotes. He knows people who own farms with cows, one of the families got a calf, a couple days later the calf was eaten by coyotes.
In many states, it is legal to hunt coyotes without a license and there is no limit.
I love how the title says "One of the wild dogs you didn't know existed" but mentions in the video "Probably the most recognised animal in North America" and I'm about positive almost everyone has heard of them, lol.
They also are fantastic shot put projectiles. I learned this when a rabid one attacked me as a teenager and tried to take my arm off. Beautifully aerodynamic with teeth that landed me in a hospital for a few weeks.

@@genabargay4391 A pack would be able to take a hog. Dunno that it would be easy though lmao.
The Coyote (Prolupus latrans) is a species of jackal native to North America, it is also known as the american jackal or silver jackal, it is one of the two jackal species included within the genus Prolupus, the other is the Golden Jackal (Prolupus aureus), members of the Prolupus genus are called laurasian jackals or holarctic jackals.
You forgot to mention they hunt and eat house cats, which is NOT cool.
Are you 4?
Outdoor cats. Just keep your cats inside.

Me: Bro, I worked on coyote drawings ever since I was little- 😂😂
Fun fact. The clip with the coyote on the back of a couch is from a guy that lives in the woods with his dog a raccoon and a coyote. All 4 of them co exist with one another, it’s actually interesting af to see a Raccoon cuddled up on a coyote and the coyote is cuddling it back
