I've had 3 5 gaited saddlebreds. Absolutely love them. One would have made a good horse for pleasure riding. I think he would have adapted well. I love them. I wish my TN walker would trot while being ridden( he trots turned out). He has good canter and running walk though.
Going clockwise, you are on the correct diagonal. Just let the horse's trot push you up. Trotting in a circle, you should be up when the horse's inside leg goes back under you. I have taken equitation lessons from Sandy Ledbetter and the late Sug Utz.
