In the documentary THE OTHER F WORD....the lead singer of PennyWise gave up touring with the band...JUST so he can take his daughter to a 70s themed Father Daughter dance. During that scene, this song was actually being played....and I never cried so hard in my life!!!!
Well we should be happy bands like Rise Against excist then, for my 18th birthday I gave myself a gift... I finaly stood up to everyone saying vegeterians suck, that smoking and drinking is cool.. I smoked since I was 12 and I stopped thank's to this great band. What I gave myself was a Straight Edge-vegan lifestyle, all thank's to Rise Against.
i never thought i would be one of the people in the comments writing about how they have lost someone and the song meant something to them but i just found out one of my bestfriends growing up has just taken his life and here we are, i dont know what to do.
Mate, I lost someone who wasn't just a friend but like a sister to me back in 2018 and I wish I could make the pain better for you. Sadly, I can't do that. What I will say though, is... don't blame yourself because it isn't your fault. As loved ones, we can only do so much for them. We aren't superhuman and that absolutely sucks, but as much as we try it is appreciated, even if they can't find a way to express that. You have to live every day like it is your last and do all you can to live a happy life. It is all your friend wanted for themselves, and it's all they wanted for you. Moving on is the hardest thing to do, and you may feel selfish... but you aren't moving on without your friend. You are carrying their love, their memory along with you, and they are proud of you. I hope this resonates with you, Michael. I can't offer much, but I can offer my experiences and give you some words of wisdom. I hope two months on, you are well. ❤️❤️
@D413r it is easy you only have to palm mute all downstrokes, but not the first one it sounds: open and down, mute and down, open and up, mute and down, open and up if you understand what i mean :D
@iJOYyou i believe his guitar is tuned down a half step on all the strings. you'd have to tune your guitar to E flat tuning. A lot of rise against songs use this tuning because it suits his voice better.
Now I I'm kinda mad sws and MGK didn't give proper credit to ride against for writing the origional lol honesty I only ever listen to one song by this band but after 3 years I'm finally going to dive into them

While I will agree with the love of songs with meaning, I will disagree on one aspect of your comment. Songs have always been about sex. you can even take things back to shakesperian times, where some of his plays, were about sex and cheating. it has always been around in our culture, it's just this generation tends to be very straight forward about their lyrics and leaves nothing to the imagination, therefore most will arguably say that their lyrics have less meaning. I say just less creativity
