    Great Material ! 👍
One of the most important tacke aways of the session:
"Make sure that your solution can still work even if you loose maybe 10% of the msgs"... "Allow some redundancy".
Very important to keep this in mind !!!

    • @youngkevinsmith

How do you measure that 10% loss? And how do you calculate scaling up the number of devices?tks

      Hi @@youngkevinsmith .
Not sure if the question was for me 😜 In any case I will answer.
How do you measure that 10% loss?
I imagine it's purely based on practical data, which is very simple to do. Imagine a device should be sending a msg each 5mins. So, after 500mins (5minsx100) you should have 100msgs, then it's easy to see what is lost.
And how do you calculate scaling up the number of devices? I think the number of devices has very very little or even nothing to do with the number of msgs lost. Why do you think that? Greetings from Belgium.

    • @youngkevinsmith

@@omarcruz6326 tks for your reply. I guess I am trying get to workout the 2 out of 100 messages that are lost. How do you work out why and how they were lost?
And at the same time this 2 in a 100 lost messages could increase as you add more end devices. Which again I am trying to understand the why and how. And what the limits, number of devices for example, are of the system?

    • @omarcruz6326
      @omarcruz6326 3 роки тому +1

      Hi @@youngkevinsmith .
"How do you work out why and how they were lost?"
That's a good question. Yes, I do see some msgs getting lost sometimes, not very often but it does happen once in a while, reason why I consider important the fact of putting things in place to make sure that all works fine even if some msgs are lost. For these few msgs did I finally find the exact reason? Nope. What did I do? Well, I implemented a bit of redundancy to be on the safe side, like sending a periodic msg each X mins. If one msg is lost, it's not a big deal. That solution was good enough for my case :)

@@omarcruz6326 the system I am working on needs 99.99% or 100% reliability of messages on the downlink in a 10 min window and retries are allowed to help get it to 99.99%. Challenging!

Great job Mr Johan. Just one thing, the unit of free space path loss should be dB instead of dBm, I assume this is a system which scales down the power transmitted rather than causing a specific power loss (like mW)?
Also in 19:30 formula I guess you forgot the free space path loss?

Thank you for the presentation. I'm new to the subject, so please pardon me. I'm looking at the "Math model" graphic. Shouldn't the path loss curvature be reverse to that shown if the signal spreading is a inverse square of the distance? Maybe I don't understand logarithmic dbm scales well enough.

As usual theese radio transmission regulatory limitations introduced by law are something nobody is checking, real limitation is only power and that is being used with "squerq" modulation that is particularily advanced one - supposed to be efficient...
