I was just in a 10 day corporate fast. My second fast I’ve ever been a part of. The first fast I lasted about 5 days skipping a meal. This time I went 4 days without eating. I am already skin and bones. I was beating myself up because I knew I needed to eat something, but didn’t want to disappoint God. He reminded me that he isn’t disappointed, but proud that I am giving it my best. He also answered several prayers along this 4 day prayer/fast. God is good, and doesn’t want you to hurt yourself. I realized that a fast is between God and you. I was trying to be self-righteous by hanging on as long as possible.

I understand you, I've been through this all my life of salvation, today i can feel my kidneys are strained, i had to force myself to hear the Holy Spirit saying don't fast this year, i tried to fast may june but couldn't there was no encouragement from the Holy Spirit; secondly i prayed going sleepless nights hours, sleeping 2 to 3 hours working for 12hrs and praying the rest of remaining hours until my neck couldn't handle my heard, with a headache right through the year, i ended with depression, after sometime God healed me from it i then knew that this body is not all supernatural, i need to respect it.

Meanwhile prayer can occur anywhere. The two hours you drive to and from work (4hours) is enough. Then you do 2 hours before you go to bed so you can receieve dreams from God and sleep well.
Neveer do dry fasting. For longer than 3 days. White fasting is okay.

Fasting and prayer doesn't get anyone close to God nor does it make men more powerful. But they are a means by which we believers can grow. We pray to build intimacy with God(communion), and we fast to subject the flesh that our spirits may find more expressions in us and through us easily.
It is from that stance that we can build good and healthy routines to help us get the results we seek. The problem is many believers think God doesn't care or hear them unless they kill themselves. We are so much taught to be servants to to God that we forget that we are also his sons and daughters and as such have unlimited access to his abode. And so the end is, people will depend on works to please God and not faith in Jesus christ.

Apostle is right. Before getting into it find out if God's spirit is backing up your fasting or prayer. If connected to God well, the spirit of God must direct you when to start and stop. If you find yourself going on and on and on but no msg is being received related to the action stop and ask if you're doing it right. Learn from deeply spiritual brethren too for more. That's why Jesus encouraged disciples to always come together to share experiences before embarking to doing His job blindly. Wisdom matters

Misunderstanding breeds misappropriation
A couple of times I felt I was getting weak spiritually and heard God minister to my spirit to fast for a specific number of days.
1 major reason why people would misappropriate this mystery is cause of testimonies of encounters others had doing this; blind copying. There's a need to be led and remember God is Lord of all. He doesn't love you because you outdid yourself loving him.
I would advise seeking Him concerning the situation, meditate and be led by His spirit

That's why Apostle Joshua Selman will say it's not all about fasting and praying.
But the heart condition.
Have you died to the flesh.
Because they made us believe that if you don't fast especially and pray, you won't be spiritual.
Or there are heights you can't ascend in the spirit.
So people carry fast and prayer as a burden.
If God draws you to fast for 40 days and nights.... He will provide grace and strength for it.
Moses fasted that long....we forgot that it was God that called him up there....while the cloud covered him.
Jesus did the same....and we forgot it was the spirit that led him into that fast.

Just know that the Devil also exists and will do anything for you to steer clear from God. But just be patient put all your worry, all your anxiety and all your problems on him and trust in him and believe and he will deliver you from whatever you’re going through. ​@@luthandothwani173When you get depressed during and after fasting , many times, unclean spirits come forth durkng the night and plant the spirit of depression to misguide you ilfrom faith , i felth this way myself ,but when i found out it was a spirit, i vasted it away in Jesus mighty name and the miracle happened it got found out , i also recite psalm 51 especially the passage that stated ,give me the joy of salvation and a willing spirit to sustain me , i tell you the devil is a liar , i engage in night vigils when i fast,because of the terror of the night ,they come at night as in psalm 91

How do you fast either without food and water 3 days and after only water or a straight water fast only! Fasting is like exercising you must get your body accustomed to it! These are the real only true Biblical fast! I start at midnite till midnite! God bleesses me this way? I call my devil killing fast from midnite till 4pm then midnite again and again! Seek the Holy Spirit for guidance for direction He will show you Amen
