  • Recorded in 1927.
McCormack actually sings "None but a lonely heart".
I can't find an exact written version of these lyrics.
    Perhaps they are McCormack's own?
    Edwin Schneider, piano.
    Lauri Kennedy, 'cello.
The portrait, painted in 1923, is by William Orpen.
There's loads of surface noise, which is typical of HMV records from the 1920s and 30s.
Perhaps they weren't so bad when they were new.
    Fons International Mk 1.
    Rega RB251.
Ortofon OM10 with an unbranded 78 stylus.
