Wdym, shiv was right in the end. Mencken fucked the country as soon as he was in office. I interpreted this scene as just another example of logan pretending like he cares for shiv the most, while simultaneously overlooking her in place of her older brothers.

Absolutely not. Logan doesnt think about his kids much, much less feels emotions like proud. It was a look of intoxication of power. His mistress/GF is turned on by the power they hold
He really did though. Bro went into a delirious episode and asked them to call the president about the dead cat under his chair and everyone was like “sir yes sir 🫡”

Funny because I am on the complete opposite side of that position. I think Roman has really progressed. What makes me the most annoyed is how she has been begging for praise and has temper tantrums when she doesn’t get it
amazingabby25 yeah Kendall has really disappointed me this season, I was hoping that after the season 2 finale we would see Kendall grow into a more ruthless and independent business man that would be an actual threat to Logan, but nope he’s more pathetic than ever before
half of me wants this show to end super dark, and the other half wants this show to end super cheesy, like all coming together as a family, I mean Logan probably wouldn't be apart of it, but I think you believe there is a heart in the family with the kids they could arguably do both, that would be pretty trippy, like if it was politically and socially dark but personally and sentimentally satisfying for the family, that would be so unnerved and bitter sweet, because that's television, but that's also how the wealthy see themselves
As the final season and episode confirmed, Shiv's opinions is not worth much among the men with power except for that one vote that destroyed her older brother, Ken.
People dont even realize that this truly is how a candidate is picked by the GOP.... The leader of the conservative media does it. In reality that would be Rupert Murdoch.

Such a great scene, true to the characters. Shiv thinks she’s so clever and Realpolitik, but Logan and (here at least) Roman understand how ATN and politics really work.
Wdym, shiv was right in the end. Mencken fucked the country as soon as he was in office. I interpreted this scene as just another example of logan pretending like he cares for shiv the most, while simultaneously overlooking her in place of her older brothers.
And now for something clean. Something...pure.
0:59 I'll use this next time I get into an argument
Just wanted to point out that a lot of the ambient noises early on sounded straight out of Empire Strikes Back.
Hahaha, what an interesting observation. Roman's "pssssssssss" definitely sounded like the steam engines you constantly hear in the background of Star Wars movies.
Man U was high
Classic Shiv. Hates him and thought he was the devil and yet was fine to form all kindsa collaboration with him when it came to her benefit.
This scene felt like reliving trauma. People felt the "climate denier" line, but I got shivers from Roman's "looks like your polling was off again."
“Trauma” is a bit of a melodramatic way to put how you felt when Trump got elected 😂
@@Reaver1223 i feel like the election episode was more geared towards the 2000 election
How weak are you? Serious question. Reliving trauma? I mean my god pull yourself together

@@ericstoppels8221 Ik these liberals are actually so dramatic. You don’t see right wing people having ptsd when Biden was elected. They need to grow up

What do others think the look logan and his GF had when roman was talking? Was that showing he was proud of rome?
Absolutely not. Logan doesnt think about his kids much, much less feels emotions like proud. It was a look of intoxication of power. His mistress/GF is turned on by the power they hold
"I guess I'm a climate denier" he thought he ate 😭
he did eat. libtard
He really did though. Bro went into a delirious episode and asked them to call the president about the dead cat under his chair and everyone was like “sir yes sir 🫡”
Love how they shot Shiv moaning in the background that her political opinion counted for more, as if she is just an afterthought and once again irrelevant in her father's eyes next to Roman.
Does anyone know if Roman drinking the Coke was in the script?
Idk
I love seeing Shiv lose.
Lmao, then you must be fuming at the finale.
@@the_crypteryou mean where her husband totally got chosen over her and it secretly drove her crazy?

What's crazy about this scene. Shiv is Connor in the view of Logan
a hell of a fringe on that woman
She looks like Frau Farbissen in Austin Powers
the nodding to Kerry, what was that about? i dont get it..
They're power-hungry and Mencken is (unfortunately) their man of choice.
Ugh I love roman but he's annoying the hell out of me this season
he will get played by the gojo guy in the next episode. That will be this seasons satellite launch for him.
Why?
Funny because I am on the complete opposite side of that position. I think Roman has really progressed. He’s thinking about what’s best for the company and has learned a lot from Logan. while Shiv has constantly made decisions out of her own personal interests and thinks she’s outsmarted everyone and no one notices her plays. What makes me the most annoyed is how she has been begging for praise and has temper tantrums when she doesn’t get it
F4MOUSxN4STY yep, i use to like Kendall, and I’m done with him
amazingabby25 yeah Kendall has really disappointed me this season, I was hoping that after the season 2 finale we would see Kendall grow into a more ruthless and independent business man that would be an actual threat to Logan, but nope he’s more pathetic than ever before
half of me wants this show to end super dark, and the other half wants this show to end super cheesy, like all coming together as a family, I mean Logan probably wouldn't be apart of it, but I think you believe there is a heart in the family with the kids
they could arguably do both, that would be pretty trippy, like if it was politically and socially dark but personally and sentimentally satisfying for the family, that would be so unnerved and bitter sweet, because that's television, but that's also how the wealthy see themselves
I think it’s going really really dark. Like really dark.

Look how the democrats did Bernie Sanders. I would say that’s way worse. He was leading most of the primary but conceded after his party said they don’t want him to go against Trump
Yea don't listen to Shiv and we get the coronavirus. Thanks Rupert, I mean Logan.
Damn, Rupert Murdoch anointed Xi Jianping?

I just love how this series paints how capitalism leads to fascism
Ew what is that staring moment with Kerry

I find it funny that she says he dangerous, given who she is and what they are doing in this context.
I mean they are choosing who to give power to so the "he's dangerous" makes perfect sense
I've never liked Shiv's character (I'm sure that's part of the goal) but JESUS CHRIST, watching her whinge while Roman makes a decent argument for his choice while she whines and shouts "my opinion matters more" makes me want to throw a brick at her.
She was the political aide for years, her opinion quite literally holds way more weight than Romans in this situation
that menken guy is a fascist...
@BrezzyBoi33 Shiv would have bet a Billion $ that Hillary would have won in 2016 so her opinion is irrelevant
Logan is the real super hero. Forget Avengers. Here comes Logan Roy
Was rooting for Mencken since the back and forth he had with the other candidates. 😂
Shiv is just so...
right, in terms of the context
Annoying
Wow this was totally enough for anyone to remember who the fuck Mencken is one season later
The "I guess I'm a climate denier" line just didn't work for me. It's such a corny line and it's treated so seriously with the music and everything. Felt like some cringe scene you'd see on Billions.
Disagree, it fit with the context of the scene and Logan’s character since he is extremely prideful. He ignores the climate around him because he’s always believed that he makes the climate himself (business/society- wise)
Agree
I love this show… but this is one scene that seemed more fantasy than the rest.
I don’t think anyone at Fox News has a real say in the GOP.
The entire show is fantasy. it's the kind of thing that writes itself when middle class people start imagining the lives of the ultra rich and powerful. It's stupid, but seems smart on the surface. Someone recommended it to me very strongly. I regret getting sucked into it.
yeah, Fox News has absolutely no sway whatsoever over the people who elect the GOP, right
Hypothetically, if they started pushing one chosen candidate really hard, they could probably sway things a lot, I feel like.
Not directly no but the show was trying to encompass all the back room political dealings with RNC heads, major donors and of course the obvious parallel of the major news outlets head
