I used the following at the end of the prompt: "The image should be widescreen (16:9) so use the full width of the canvas". Thank you for your efforts!
@AKZDev may even have a stab at making a plugin for it too, using your AI one as a template.... I've got an Inky plate running a custom slideshow at home.
Great work! I bought the screen and pi after I saw your previous video. I just assembled and installed it today. Cool to see you've already updated the software with these new features. Thanks for sharing this awesome project!
@AKZDev ❤️ it would be great to be able to add multiple images for a slide show. Also being able to manage the current schedule that is running would be really helpful as well. Currently an old schedule will remove the latest manual update. But anyway, I love the work you have already put into it!
It’s funny how we upgrade our phones, tablets, TV to the highest resolution with refresh rates and the latest chip to power our phones. Yet I find this simple 7 color screen with a refresh rate of 30 seconds peaceful and soothing…lol. Great Job!
I’m only two minutes in, but I just wanted to say you do amazing tutorials and screen casts. I’ve been wanting to record a few on certain things and definitely will be learning from how you’ve been doing them. Also, I’m excited to build my own e-ink UI! I ordered the display recently after your last video and it just came in!
Love this project and your work. Can't wait to try it. Suggestion: plug-in to display sensor data (from e.g. BME688 4-in-1 Air Quality Breakout from Pimoroni). Maybe a split screen to display sensor data + local weather or sensor data + clock and an option for refresh every X minutes.. Should be easy to connect BME688 to the Inky screen without soldering using the Qwiic/STEMMA QT connector.
Wow! That´s very cool. - What about integrating it with Spotify API? Displaying currently played song would be a cool one. - If the API returns no current song then default to another plugin. - Also combining text gpt + google image side by side would be nice. ie give me the most popular music album launched on this day (any year) while showing the cover art next to it.
A daily calendar would be great since it doesn’t need to be updated often. I’ve thought about doing it through either Home Assistant, a web page, or maybe trying to add a plugin depending on how complex it is. Side question: does the frame go into deep sleep between updates to prolong battery life?
A calendar plugin is already in the works by the community, you can check it out in the github repo if you want to contribute! As for the battery life, my setup isnt running on a battery and currently the Pi is always on to serve the web server for the UI.
Hey again! Cool to see you keeping this project going. I know you can display images on this set up, but does it work for all image filetypes? I.e. is there the option for short .gifs?
The code currently accepts PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, and PDF file types. For GIFs I believe only the first frame is displayed since the long refresh times make it unsuitable for animated content

This is becoming the goto project for the Pimoroni eink hats! Love it!
Thank yoU!

Thank you! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the setup, let me know if you have any suggestions or run into issues

Thank you to Pimoroni for sponsoring the most excellent video.
Pimoroni is awesome! 🙌

Hey AKZ, could you please add the feature of adjusting the screen saturation. I think the screen can do more with some colors
hopefully my display will arrive in the next few days... i had good luck with getting one because they are currently out of stock really quickly...

Make sure you rotate the API key. Currently it is exposed.
Thanks for the warning, I had rotated my key right after the screen recording :)
This is cool, but I feel the esp32 would be a better platform just from a power efficiency perspective
can I use my old laptop. Ps develop version for ubuntu on laptop.
This cured my autism 🙏
