This match is art coming to life and Randy Savage being a stickler was the best thing ever for this match to stand the test of time. It's almost like ballet, stunt choreography where every move has to be precise and exact and Randy was kind of the stunt coordinator/director who orchestrated its so beautifully. I wonder if Ricky Steamboat has the originally Yellow note pad for the match so that he can share it in the WWE Museum so that all the fans can see the 300 steps that Randy instructed Ricky to write so that the world can see how detailed and well crafted this was match was because without that step by step detail the match would've never worked.

Imagine a Bret Hart Randy Savage match in 1990-92 when Randy was in his prime. Sad we never got to see both compete. It would've blown everything in its path to smithereens.
There have been (arguably) better matches since then but the fact this one is still talked about and still in a Top 10 of All Time (for so many of us) says a lot. And when it happened it really stood out, especially in WWF (WWE). Flair and the NWA of the era had some great technical matches but for WWF? They were in the Hogan era. The amount of counts on both wrestlers and how Fast they moved is what Makes this Match so Legendary! Other than Hulk and Andre, the next day at school, that Savage-Steamboat was hands down what we talked about!
Saw this live at The Silverdome, relatively. The view of the ring was so tiny from our seats that they had closed circuit TVs hanging from the roof. Those things had to have been huge.
Ricky Steamboat is an absolute wrestling legend, my favorite matches of all time were when he and Ric Flair faced one another in the late 1970s in Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling and again in 1989, they had a series of matches in WCW. This match with Savage was certainly a great one also. Thanks to The Dragon for so many years of great entertainment .

This was the match that got me hooked. Ricky the Dragon was my first ever favorite wrestler because of this match. And Macho Man is just quite the wrestling showman. 👏🏼👏🏼
I watched this match live on PPV. It is the only wrestling match I ever saw where I had goosebumps. There were so many near pinfalls I was going crazy. This is the greatest match in Wrestlemania history. R.I.P Macho.
I was at WrestleMania 3. In my opinion, it is the greatest WrestleMania of all time.
plain and simple...the greatest PROFESSIONAL wrestling match that ever took place
Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior were def two of my all time favorites
Such a great match great story and also contains one of the best ref bumps ever. Poor Hebner was blown up trying to keep up with those two.
This is just golden memories for me 🥲. Thanks
Now, The Greatest Match EVER
Steamboat looks great! One of the greatest matches of all time! 2 of the Greatest Grapplers of all time!
I wish I was there that night at the Silverdome to witness this match.
I was lucky to see this at 14. I was still watching it through the eyes of a kid watching two guys fight.
We all love and miss u Macho! Not many did it better than you
He had his brother Lanny spread his dog Hercules’s ashes on that tree. Lanny asked why he has to do it because it wasn’t his dog. Macho told him so he’d remember because if the tree was good enough for Hercules…it was good enough for him.🥺
God I hate them having to blur the WWF logos
Blame the World Wildlife Fund for that one.
never noticed that...good solve
@@locutus442 2 things... it's the not wild lifes fault. WWF was only suppose to use the "wwf" sparingly bc the wildlife group had already owned the name "wwf"
And #2 vince won a settlement to use "wwf" on his old product since they are now wwe... try getting educated
I wish WWE was always WWF.
I just want to shout out A&E for investing in wrestling and not only wrestling but the history of wrestling… a lot of networks look down on it but I’m glad it’s getting the shine it deserves
Highest level of respect for Ricky Steamboat. Best match of all time
This is like a groundbreaking movie film that became the most recognized thing to ever show on screen.
We were so broke. couldn't buy ppv. So I waited for the news to report who won the match. Felt so happy knowing that steamboat won. Looking back, u find how much care and thought they put towards the match makes u feel good. they tried hard and it turned out to be brilliant.
It's also nice they had one of the greatest technical wrestlers, Brett the Hitman Hart, giving his analysis.
What an honor to have been a kid in the 80s !!!! I had the best possible life and these guys were part of my perfect childhood
We had a great match Ricky! Oooooooooooooh Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaahh! Dig It!
