MY ENTIRE FAMILY, 7 IN ALL, HIRED STEPHANIE TO DRIVE US AROUND THE ISLAND. SHE TOLD US ABOUT THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE ISLAND. WE VISITED THE QUEENS STEPS, AND ATLANTIS. WE THEN STOPPED FOR A BITE TO EAT. SHE THEN DROVE US TO THE PUBLIC BEACH FOR THE REST OF THE TIME WE HAD WITH HER. SHE IS A WONDERFUL PERSON!!

The beach at the end reminds me of Eagle Beach in Aruba. I actually had a day at Bahamas last week, coming off a cruise. Spent it at Atlantis. It was fun! Wish I could have seen more of the island.

I like the idea of the Bahamas from the 1650's - the 1850's. The child in my genuinely wants someone to invent a time machine, and send me back to the middle of the Golden Age of Piracy. I want to see the Bahamas and the Caribbean then, not now. Particularly, Nassau and Port Royal - both now unfortunately massive tourist attractions, but both considered to have had been some of the largest pirate coves in history.

Bahamas is really beautiful. every place in the world has its ups and downs but generally, Bahamas is a memorable place to spend your vacation in.
I met Stephanie before on a previous cruise to the Bahamas. Very sweet lady and she definitely gives you the 411 on everything Bahamas.

Great to hear from a Native Bahamian! Great information. Was in Bahamas last year and this information would have definitely helped! But will take it for my trip to the Bahamas with my kids this year!
At many ports, the tour guides ARE taxi drivers. I've enjoyed many excellent taxi tours, about 6 hrs each, for less than half the price of the cruise line's excursion. in (Cartegena, Panama, Costa Rica, Acapulco, etc). Plus, the driver will stop where ever you like, not just where the organized tour goes. Also, the shore excursions will have 80-100 people on a bus. In a taxi, 4-6 people.

I think that my family and I took this taxi from the airport to Atlantis and the lady driving (think it is Stephanie here but she didn't give us her name) was really nice and took us on a tour of Nassau and I thought that was really nice! I loved the pink conchshells that we saw!
I'll visit this paradise... one day.

Hope you enjoy your trip. The second Twin Brothers restaurant was one of my favorites, in Da Fish Fry area. Hope you get to try their guava duff dessert--wonderful! But the best guava dessert for me was at Travellers Rest restaurant--warm guava cake/sauce to die for !!!

I been to the Bahamas alot this summer at least 3 times! I ent on a Disney dream cruise then two weeks later went to a carnival cruise
