@@LivingWithAClassic It lifted right off in minutes! There was no corrosion at all on the head bolts or in the water passages despite sitting for 15 years. I had the head off about 25 years ago on an unrelated problem. then I used a stock tin gasket but sprayed a coating of Permatex copper head gasket sealer on each side. That stuff worked great.
Hello Thank you for your videos, I have an xj6 serie 2 from 1978 and we need to change the head gasket. My question this generation heads are able to run on unleaded fuel or I need to upgrade it to avoid add on when I fill the tanks. Thank you Lionel
Its a different head, why would one of the cam shafts have two bolt and the other have four bolt sprocket holes? I don't have the original head hear but was quite sure both the cam shaft were four hole on that one!
lf i had to guess it would be that it was assembled correctly but the head not re-torqued after 500miles or whatever. That would/could end up with HG failure
i just bought a 1987 jaguar xj40 to learn wrenching. im learning so much with your videos!
Excellent ! Slowly you are becoming a legend for those DIY Jaguar guys.
Thank you for those kind words Raul! My goal is to get more people into older Jaguars, especially younger guys.

Adam, what spec did you tighten those camshaft nuts to? I see differing values in the various manuals.
Thank you for another very helpful video, keep up the great work 👍

Great wideo. Thx. Waiting for those carbs :)
They are coming soon. Thank you for watching!
Great video,
I would add in the description if it's an easy/moderate/difficult task, and also an estimate of how long it would take to do it
Thanks for the advice! I will add that 😊

They can all handle unleaded fuel as they are. The valve seats are hardened from the factory. Thanks for watching!
My cam shafts may have got mixed up, how can I see the difference between the inlet and outlet cam shafts for reassembly?

You're probably right. A lot of things were not done right
interesting but : trop de paroles et plus de mécanique ...A+
