      Yes, he tried to say it was politics, but the bigotry, hatred, etc., are direct outgrowths of the biblical text itself, which existed long before modern political systems, or media, or PR. It's the religious doctrine and dogma itself.

    Everytime Walter does an interview its worthy of attention. Faith and Science do have something in common. Discernment. You practice discernment thru a faith lense or scientific fact finding lense. You form a hypothesis which sometimes takes years to prove or years to learn the lesson of, sometimes neither happens but you leave it for someone else to figure out eventually just by having been here and trying. It's good to question things just don't make up answers! Helpful. Saying I'm not sure, gives people agency over themselves. Facts can be open ended. What's wrong with that? Law is, which is also based on people's beliefs, for that reason. Making stuff up takes people's agency away and makes for what we have currently. It's not rights its agency because their questioning everything they already know for some reason. History all ready shows us this is problematic so why question what we we know. Thank you Walter and for the book Dr. Collins!

    I browsed through the book "The Road To Wisdom: Truth, Science, Faith and Trust." Let us remember what Dr. Collins wrote in his book "The Language of God:" "On a beautiful fall day, as I was hiking in the Cascade Mountains during my first trip west of the Mississippi, the majesty and beauty of God’s creation overwhelmed my resistance. As I rounded a corner and saw a beautiful and unexpected frozen waterfall, hundreds of feet high, I knew the search was over. The next morning, I knelt in the dewy grass as the sun rose and surrendered to Jesus Christ." His latest book, the subject of this video, was very disappointing. It appears that for Dr. Collins science must face the test of truth, but religion can rest comfortably in faith and trust. Religion requires no scientific proof or analysis. In this book, Dr. Collins expresses dismay at the ferocity with which the Biblical God attacks and kills people but seems to just shrug and say that's the way it is. You'd think he would realize as a scientist that such "killings by God" are all based on myth. Biblical myths were created in order to instill fear and obedience into the tribe. So to take the entire Bible literally is asking for trouble. And causing trouble, too, with the death of hundreds of millions of people in religious wars. I suggest doing a search for "Sam Harris and Francis Collins" to get a piercing critique of Dr. Collins.

  • @OrpheusObjectMRH
    @OrpheusObjectMRH Місяць тому

    Yes, Dr. Collins is a brilliant and accomplished scientist, and seems like a nice, sincere fellow.
    He's also making cliched, facile arguments for 'belief/faith without evidence' - ironic, when you think about it.
    He claims that his work as co-discoverer of DNA and work with the human genome led him to believe that it's the 'language of god', but that's a variation on the Watchmaker teleological argument, i.e., he saw such order in the DNA and underlying math that there simply 'must' be a 'designer'.
    It's lucky for us and his particular area within the larger discipline of science that he can compartmentalize and keep his scientific work and faith mostly separate.
    As for the evangelizing - keep it to yourself, "Frankie".

      Don't look for any insights from him on this. He says things like religion helps explain why we exist, but ignores that religions' answers are just pontification and storytelling. There may be things science and philosophy has trouble explaining, but that doesn't mean religion gives good answers. It just gives confident answers.

Moreover, they feed the illusion of division and separation from everyone and everything, which breeds conflict, violence, and suffering, which prevents True Love, Peace, Happiness, or Creativity, in each and every moment of daily life, 24/7. I also used to trust Mr. Isaccson. He is involved with very popular partisan orgs like, Aspen Institute and the like. Check out Wikipedia. Troubling what PBS has become. Everyone requires a passing ability to read, orientate and apply navigational directions from a map.., the past is the map of the future we need for navigation.
    A combination of Gaussian Surveyor and wave-particle packets observed by mathematical probability analysis, lead to Euler's e-Pi-i flash-fractal re-all-ity (holography-quantization) of Newtonian Calculus, of instantaneous superposition as seen in Susskind Singularity-point positioning ideas of string-like nodal-vibrational math-music measures, the Universe interpreted in Galileo's timing modulation, ie, relative-timing sync-duration reference-framing of Electron-photon-phonon-Proton Neutronic substantiation, deriving virtual work ratio-rates as in Einsteinian Relativity, because E=mC² describes the nodal-vibrational mass-energy-momentum related situation in/of continuous integration, of time-timing alignment density-intensity real-number constant / logarithmic numberness differentiates.
    Newtonian Camera Obscura modeling the functional aspects of eye operation not only shows how light is a range of colors in combination, it's also the devise that shows how a real, inverted-reverse image is projected on the Retina, and that tends to create a difference between those who are able to rotate and recombine functional elements of observable components of WYSIWYG Actuality, ie a Rote learned picture of visual half-truth reality is mostly ok for navigation by the promise of the written message, not so much in learning by doing and gradual accumulation of practical experience guided by continual thought experiment skills.
    Aptitude and application is the thing, starting in early childhood.
    Apart from the ability to remember self-defining coherence-cohesion internally resonant objects of string-like nodal-vibrational relative-timing ratio-rates of prime-cofactor superimposed Perpetual Motion continuity, ie "object permanence", after some optical events are experienced, we real-ise that the object we see and the reflection of left-right handedness is an overall complimentary arrangement of reflected light, as Newton's Prisms and screens showed light being split and recombined, and he was looking harder than anyone for a reason to believe, daring to analyze Metaphysics and Cosmological Observation of "How the Heavens go" in defiance of faith based commands to the contrary.
    The events of optical mathematical functional components in terms of flash-fractal sum-of-all-histories/instantaneous virtual vector-values of relative-timing differentiates, that is the reiteration-reintegration of superimposed, overlapping lifetimes of integrated active memory associations within superposition identification here-now-forever as log-antilog relative-timing picture-plane containment states of conceptually harmonic resonance in math-music phenomena.
    The whole world get an overhaul with every newborn eye and ear, reset in another Mind-Body containment and navigational directions omnidirectional-dimensional cause-effect self-defining Actuality.
    This is firsthand application of principles in/of living bio-logical experience, best managed by those with the aptitude of Medical Doctors. Thank you.
