i found a picture of me and my mates at Brighton 81 rally . can remember it like it was yesterday . still got a scooter and see some of the old lads from back then . made friends for life .......
Think your find there's a few camps of mod who have differing views on the 79 revival mines punks in parkas, and five years on from the 79 revival the mod scene was starting to split into two scene's.
So was I mate then turned casual would never have been a scooter boy .all the smart mods turned casual as I remember or left when the acid house started
I remember a Brighton rally where we camped below those cliffs…..load of casuals started rolling rocks from the top at night…I was about 17 and a scooter boy on my Vespa from Billericay.
Reliably informed that some of the Haywards Heath lot are "Lindsay (girl in red top), Amanda and tall lad in blue flight jacket was Ivan (Godlington)".
We use to knock around with the Haywards Heath Scooter club a little bit after this rally, not seen any of them in years, remember Ivor had a 50 special, looked like a pea on a drum, big lad for 16,there was John, Lisa (brother and sister) Denise,Jason, couple of others, can't remember names,we was Southern Inspiration Scooter Club at the time
"The smell of 2-Stroke and the wind in my parka fish tails Can still feel the sand in my bowling shoes and finger nails Walking the coloured paving stones in Carnaby Street Wearing rectangular shades and the people I would meet Melandi, The Cavern, The Face, sherrys And the whole world felt like it was your enemy" Dedicated to all of you who know what it means, But Can't Explain. ❤
Think you will find this was 1981...not 1980....PS....went to Brighton three times and we were always escorted out of town by the Police...I wonder why?
This is a blast from the past for me! I was 18 back in 1980 and i was a Modette! Happy days! xxxxx

I was a 16 year old mod in 1979. It's now 2024 and I am still a mod. And still proud
I love it when people slag off the 79 Mod Revival saying it had died when 5 years later it was still and newer younger members.
Still going now 🙂

Mods will be around for ever ,from an old mod aged 70 I still wear the clothes and the music original and revival. Long live mods. 🤩😊😎🤗
@kyfaydfsoab I was 12years old in 1964 so I listened to the music from then
The girls at secondary school in the 1980s used to walk around with their green "science lab" overall on, nearest we got to the Mod parka.
I think I remember Lindsay she was great
Long live the MODS 🇬🇧💪🏼

With the marquee on the front, it reminds me of Brighton Phoenix Rally, 1984.

I was there in 84 and problems with the casuals.
Yes was the 84 Phoenix rally,good time's 👌
Original mods would be turning in their graves seeing some of those clothes and haircuts
This looks like it was filmed around 1983. You can see the Psycho Billy bikers coming on the scene here.

I was probably about 16 , I was a new romantic 🤫🤫🙄🙄😬😬
Back then the rockin crowd ruled the sub cultures, regular tear ups with mods, skins, etc,
Right load of layabouts

1964 to 1972 that was the mod era and I should know I was part of it, anything else is wrong.
Depends on your POV. I've met older mods that say it was all over by '64.
so any skinhead watching this grow up we hated scooters
