  • Kamande, also known as lentils is an edible legume. It is an annual plant known for its lens-shaped seeds. It is about 40 cm tall, and the seeds grow in pods, usually with two seeds in each. As a food crop, the majority of world production comes from Canada and India, producing 58% combined of the world total.
A legume is a plant in the family Fabaceae, or the fruit or seed of such a plant. When used as a dry grain, the seed is also called a pulse. Legumes are grown agriculturally, primarily for human consumption, for livestock forage and silage, and as soil-enhancing green manure.

You did good brother. As soon as my wife found out that I cook better chapatti than her, courtesy of our son, she stopped cooking them. Be careful not to over cook, you might chase away the wife. Thayo Thayo.

@@grinleaf9046 My Wife is a Financial Genius. For that I will cook all the Chapatti she wants. She turns $1 into thousands. I still don't know how she does this. It has to be magic. Last year I blew my engine on My truck in Seattle, on a line-haul load, and it cost $37,000 to rebuild. I was under the assumption that we had to forego a vacation due to this sudden and unexpected loss. In January she told me that we were going on vacation to Zanzibar. I was in shock, because I still don't understand how she pulled it off. Anyways, I give it to her. My Wife is a Financial Genius. She comes up with all these tricks and ingenious ways of saving money that are mind blowing. If all I have to do is make more Chapatti and Mandazi. Let's get cooking.

Boiled lentils is the best . It doesn't stand one by one it becomes more soft and tasty.

Tried this recipe and didn’t like it at all. The taste is not appealing…there’s a reason why our ancestors thought best to boil and rinse certain cereals. It’s like cooking beans with the same water u used to boil them. Only rice and Minji work this way

The reason why i boil and sometimes soak first is to reduce the levels of raffinose and carbs that causes gas and bloating. Some of us have complicated systems...medically and age related... but if you are ok...hey go for no boil .

Lentils have no harm I do boil mine abit and I use gluten free tomatoe paste and cubes from healthy u that way you will have no problems. Don't use spices instead use herbs

If you are adding cubes then no need of using salt. With lentils as they cool down they absorb more salty

Good recipe. Question though isn't adding "generous" amount of water in the end same as just boiling them, the difference is that its done at the end and not beginning of cooking?

Sure, the difference is almost the same. Preboiling the first, youll have to later cook them again. Using this method, you're doing both at the same time.
