Lol, I don’t think I’m *that* good (Ian’s pretty good, too) but yeah, that’s me. I really enjoyed playing with Lua and Tori and Ian. Even though it’s cEDH, we’re more casual/friendly with the live banter and all than you might see on a Playing With Power episode, which is more of an epic showdown. I hope to play more games with these guys again. They’re all great!
Couldn't Lua have cast Winota using the Sol Ring to leave a land open, then attack with both Cratermaker and Giver for 2 triggers, hold priority and tap the land to sac Cratermaker and kill Cage? It gives you one more Winota trigger while also killing the Cage.
26:45 Lua could have tapped differently so she could attack with Goblin Cratermaker to trigger Winota and then sacrifice it with the trigger on the stack to blow up the Grafdigger's Cage.
Am I wrong in my evaluation that the early Rhystic Study pretty much won the game? I am not a cEDH player, but the amount of value he gained from it throughout the game was pretty scary.
Omg I'm not in the patreon list yet but poggies ! this episode looks like it has such great decks ! Also Ian's mana crypt shenanigan made him my new totem animal
Academy Manufactor ensures that the Time Sieve combo continues even beyond killing one opponent amd not reliant on sacrificing your own mana rocks or the sieve itself.
Only if she didn't pay for the rhystic study trigger. I would say with Ian's life total giving him a card for 2 triggers would have been a better play, but I get not letting him draw more answers. Tough call.
If I had payed my mana differently yes but I had the mana floating and was moving phases.. I should've tapped my sol ring for Winota and 1 for rhystic then the extra land would be used on the sac. that's a silly mistake I will look at FOREVER haha
I'm still very much a noob to Magic and mean no disrespect with this question but I do wonder: is it fun to play games like this against a deck like Ian's? I've seen this on other channels as well where they play Commander so it's not so much this specific case but just in general when a player wins either by setting up an endless loop, or triggering a very specific win condition in an at-the-last-second-come-from-behind sort of manner, I just have to wonder if it's fun???? like ideally to me a good game is everyone gets to play their decks at least somewhat and battle it out one person falling at a time, which I understand can't always happen, but I just can't help but notice there's this deflated feeling to the other players when one player wins in the kind of way that Ian wins this game. Like sure they can rationalize to themselves that the better player/deck obviously won and hey we're all friends at the end of the day but I'm still as a viewer walking away feeling not sure everyone had the most fun they could have had XD
This is cEDH, so everyone has agreed that they’re there to play the best cards, the best win conditions, and as fast/oppressively as possible. A lot of people find this more fun than EDH, since you’re all guaranteed to be on the same page. EDH is fun for the wacky board states and interesting, underplayed cards, but cEDH is a different game.
Glad I could help! Love seeing how tivit plays. Love watching cEDH content and trying to get into playing it. This episode was great because it showed a lot of the table talk and threat assessment that you don't get in most shows.
Ah yes, more cEDH for people like me who don't enjoy actually playing cEDH but do love watching it, but aren't smart enough/in the know enough about the meta to know what is going on most of the time. Love this!
we hope to make CEDH clear to understand even to an audience who doesn't play. We do game nights on spelltable every other Monday if you'd ever like to learn! :)
@@scrybabies I appreciate that. My LGS has a great cEDH community, and I've made a concerted effort to play with them to gain an appreciation of the format. I appreciate that cEDH exists and that people love it. I don't personally enjoy the game play of it while I'm in a game. I love watching it, but when I play Magic, I want to play significantly durdlier lower power more casual Commander. I'm a cEDH Ally not a cEDH player, basically, lol.
Not really, since Ian will attempt to draw a card and then my Notion Thief will try to replace that card draw into me drawing a card and then Ian's Notion Thief will then draw from me, so Ian will still get his cards due to the ordering of replacement effects. It would prevent Ian from drawing too many cards, though, as Lua and Tori could give me the card draw instead of Ian. But honestly, that would seem rather King-Making there and a lose-lose for both of them. I thought this was an "okay" outcome overall, especially for a more lax game of cEDH.
great game, but Ian 11:35 he need discard a card, he exile the atacking creature also counter card after that, and then when Charles ask the numbers of cards have 6... It is a detail, but it is an advantage. bless
its a possibility if you can find the right cards to go with him but in reality, just using the color green and blue I guess you could make a cedh deck with that commander
Definitely check out his personal content and other features then. I think he’s one of the kindest in our community :) it’s important to note four of us are close friends so we do rag on each-other a lot haha. In particular I’m a sassy person 😂
Tivit is prob one of my fav Commanders. I love playing as the Government, everytime we play i let my friends know im playing my deck called womens rights so its time to vote, that ot taxes is great
To the Editor: we know what Rhystic Study does, partifularly after the the first few times. We DON'T need to see it obscure the card on the stack that maybe we don't have memorized. Please keep that one revealed so that we can read it.
Snore. Ian playing solitaire. You have your own channel bro. 👍 and sub to help support the channel so we can see some other players play better magic. Can’t wait for the next episode!
Why is Ian bitching and complaining about a Winota when he obviously has the upper hand and the strongest board state? Also it's no surprise he won because everyone just kept giving him free cards all game.
Winota can be absolutely terrifying depending on what she hits. Imagine flipping into Magus of the Moon in the scenario and just destroying Ian's mana base, since he had no basics.
So just my opinion as the Winota player at the table: In regards to Winota Ian has the most experience with Winota out of everyone at the table (including me) and is aware how quickly it can snowball so those comments IMO are welcome. It’s less bitching to me and more of a smart way to politic. Because regardless of his board state 2 attackers on Winota could’ve been dangerous. Without removal for a rhystic study it’s almost impossible to get around … which none of us had. I did my best to not feed it but … shit happens it’s ok :) Yes we fed cards. Do I think it was a factor in Ian’s win? Of course. Looking back and watching my plays I see a lot of things I could’ve done differently. Ian’s a fantastic player and regardless of all the rhystic draws I think he could’ve easily navigated a win.
I love how Lua is filled with unending rage. This was a marvelous game.
Tori's Carl wheezer impersonation is 🔥🔥🔥
@@colink638 what lol. Saying something is fire is not sexual. It means it's cool.
Further evidence for Charles being Kaiba. He is playing a (blue eyes?) white dragon deck.
“Ken if you’re watching this we love you…” “and Im sorry” put me on the floor
Ian and Charles! This is going to be amazing! Lets go!!!!!
Wait, is that THEE Charles that plays on Playing with Power? This dude is INSANELY good. Love seeing this appearance! This is a top tier pod!

Tivit is one of my favorite new decks for sure.
Totally. It makes me wish we had more voting cards that are cedh viable.
Couldn't Lua have cast Winota using the Sol Ring to leave a land open, then attack with both Cratermaker and Giver for 2 triggers, hold priority and tap the land to sac Cratermaker and kill Cage? It gives you one more Winota trigger while also killing the Cage.
Yes I tapped my mana BADLY
26:45 Lua could have tapped differently so she could attack with Goblin Cratermaker to trigger Winota and then sacrifice it with the trigger on the stack to blow up the Grafdigger's Cage.
Woo!
Thanks again for having me :D
We’re so glad you were able to come film this episode with us! You’re always a treat at the table ❤
You made my job so much fun this week!
Wait, Elm City Games in New Haven? I had no idea you guys were in CT too
Yes!! It’s Lua’s LGS
love Charles' Get a Clue song reference at @21:30 lol
and Lua's dabbing
I’m glad you got the reference!
did you see the eye contact action between 28:48 and 29:00 ?? that was my fav part
Evens is damage is the only correct way to roll for Crypt. Ian is a homie confirmed.
Ian is bringing all the combo pain.
Favorite part of the episode... Lua - "It's called ScryBabaies BITCH!!" 🤣🤣🤣

literally every single edh youtube video is like this. one day people will learn to pay it or not cast into it
Love it when you guys do cEDH!
Me too! ❤
This was a super fun game of Magic: the Bully-Ian-for-an-hour lol
This is how our regular games go too 😂
I am here to see TORI ANNIHILATE WITH COIN FLIPS
Tori. I love your silly voices and singing so much. So relatable!
And you are totally the Joey.
Hahah thank you!
Charles Is definitely Kaiba. He is even playing a Dragon. A dawn sky dragon
Omg I'm not in the patreon list yet but poggies ! this episode looks like it has such great decks !
Also Ian's mana crypt shenanigan made him my new totem animal
Next time you should be! ❤
Obligatory comment to help with the algorithm slavelord. Thank you both for the awesome content as always ✨
NICE COIN
It came in clutch!! Also we should team up sometime 👀
28:48 - 29:00 daaaang.... the subtext!!
I like to call him Barrel, Chef of Compliments
Love it Scrybabies...great episode!!!
Academy Manufactor ensures that the Time Sieve combo continues even beyond killing one opponent amd not reliant on sacrificing your own mana rocks or the sieve itself.
At 26:50 couldnt lua attack with both creatures and with the winota triggers on the stack saced the goblin to pop grafdiggers cage
Only if she didn't pay for the rhystic study trigger. I would say with Ian's life total giving him a card for 2 triggers would have been a better play, but I get not letting him draw more answers. Tough call.

@ScryBabies that's how we all learn though! And everyone makes mistakes, like Ian's jokes. I tease I tease.
Tori is my new favorite EDH player
Total BAMF 🤘🏻
Oh thank you Brandon 😂❤
This is a lovely high powered pod ❤
love y'all too! gg's!
Great Games. I feel like this makes me a super villain but Long Live our Tivit overlords!
That mirror should have become a rhystic study more often I think...
Please please please do a Carl Wheezer game... or lots of them
Great episode! Charles and Ian are going to be preeeeetty tough guests to top lol
Great game lol I subbed
Early cage against Winota and Ao is straight rude.
PAIN WAS CAUSED ON THIS DAY
Wooh krarkashima represent!
If you dont do the first 10 points of danage to yourself, you're not playing CEDH
Great game! Great people!
Great modfly art 😉
And the winner is... Rhystic Study

As someone with a bit of a cackle myself, Ian's laugh is so so good
Can someone explain why windfall draws 44 and not only 10 or 11 or however many cards ian had in hand?
He had Notion Thief out which steals opponents non draw step draws
@@ShellShockOne thanks!
I cant wait till im on an episode!!!!!!!!!
@31:43, did the audio unsync here or did they call what is damage after throwing the dice?
24:15 so construct should be a 4/4 not 5/5 after saccing LED right? ian getting full on bullied :D
Charles is also known for his 42-tweet essays about Sol Ring
Hey Comedian! Did you know Ian is in your channel name Ian?
Oh, no way! Wish I had thought of that :)

Too bad Charles didn't replay the mirror and copy the guy that stops him from drawing also

He has a Rhystic Study...
hi, I am new player to mtg and I was wondering if I could make cedh deck with Tawnos, the toymaker?
its a possibility if you can find the right cards to go with him but in reality, just using the color green and blue I guess you could make a cedh deck with that commander
it would cost you and arm and a leg to build that deck
🔥
10K!!!!!
“Get your clues loser” ❤️
Whenever I see Lua play this Winota whiffs … WTF?!?!?
Watch the playing with power one 😂
This is Elm City Games in New Haven no wayyyyy
🎉🎉🎉🎉
You could have attacked with the goblin cratermaker, and then sac it with the winota trigger on the stack, right?
CHARLES THE GOAT
Hell Yea its time
I find Ian abrasive. First time seeing him though, so maybe not representative of him in general.

It’s always fun until the oracle comes out… but fun game as always!
Great show! Love scrybabies 💜. Also, was it just me or was Ian both failing to be funny and just whining the entire game?
