So your canvas is a black gesso, then a little oil glaze after that dried.
I noticed a shine before you started.
It's slightly glossy acrylic paint as a base to the seal the canvas, that's all
Fantastic as always! Question.....what, if anything, do you put on your paintings once dried to preserve them?
Thanks John. Oil paintings are pretty resilient things. Especially on most walls in the house - unless it gets constant straight sun light ,then maybe avoid that wall. Dust is pretty easy to counter with a clean dry brush, most of it is on the top ledge because of how picture hangs outward helps to avoid dust clinging to the surface. I don't varnish my work, it changes the colours to an unintended look. Usually you only need to do that with acrylic paintings. If you are varnishing than grab non-yellowing removable varnish ( that will point you to a handful products only ) a small bottle will go very far. You will need to wait 6 months before doing it with an oil painting as it inhibits the oil painting from curing.

Thank you Andres. It's black acrylic paint to seal the surface - protect it more from oil. When it's dry I use oil paint. It's just to get started to paint rather than empty canvas.

What size is the palette knife you're using?
Thanks Alina, I use all kinds plus I cut them / shape them. Best way to find which one works best is to have a few on hand and switch from one to another until one works for you. Best of luck.
