@@justinnardine8564Kemba was able to transition better because of his athleticism! U can't have a complete skill set without it! Especially with the fact the NBA is an offense-minded league of slashing and scoring and has been for quite some time! Kemba is superb in both those aspects! Couple those with the jump shot he'd already had at UConn and he was the perfect fit for the pro game
Brad Lewis yes I don’t want to compare him to AI or Thomas cause it’s not fair but an extremely explosive smaller player that makes a lot of big shots.
This team, sitting at 9-9 in Big East play, and squarely "on the NCAA bubble", essentially faced 11 straight elimination games (5 Big East conference games in 5 nights) and a 6 game run through in the NCAA tournament-- it was and still is THE most impressive accomplishment in NCAA men's basketball history.
the only way the team would've missed out on the tourney was if they lost to Depaul and even still I think they would've made it. They did play their way from an 8-10 seed up to a 3 seed though.
This is why I believe. Back in 99-00. I sent demos of rap integrating the squad. The micro in 99 with Hamilton was on point. A year later went to studio. I heard other teams were jealous
Kemba E-Z pass Walker put that work in & put the Huskies on his back & led them to the chip. A season that will never be forgotten. #HuskyNationStandUp#
After watching them go through the Big East Tournament, I picked them in my bracket to win it all. I loved this team. The youngsters were so good. Kemba was incredible. Seeing Jim Calhoun smile more with this team than any other was a sign on how he felt that year. I saw them at Maui and got hooked. They had a tough period in the conference which was so competitive and they did slump.
I think its the greatest run of all time and I dont think it'll be surpassed. 5 games in 5 days against 4 top 20 teams then on to the tourney and we know how that turned out.
@@bobdole4432 Haha right. I wish Bouknight would come back for his junior year, but he is already an old Sophomore and a projected borderline lottery pick, so i definitely don't fault him for leaving, but think if he came back, he and RJ would make the best backcourt in the country and have Uconn poised for another title run.
This guy, behind this account, was there. I met Travis Knight in the bathroom, asked him for a photo and he said, "Yea. After we get out of the bathroom."
that 15-5 run to close the game and win by one (really a 15-2 run and win by four if you take away the meaningless Duhon 3 at the buzzer) was one of the most exciting things i have ever witnessed. Calhoun won 3 NCAA championships and he had the best team in 06. What he did for UConn basketball is priceless.

Jimmer averaged 29 ppg. I'd say that's a pretty good year

The most impressive accomplishments in NCAA history belong to UCLA & Indiana. Going undefeated the whole season is the hardest thing to do by far.

Love my Huskies. The 1999 team is still my favorite team but that's just because it was the first one.
Cardiac Kemba. He was one hell of a player for Uconn and now for the Hornets.

A lot of similarities to this year's team. Even with the losses to St Johns.
