    Did Concobrium work for you?

    • @niseywoods
      @niseywoods 3 роки тому +3

      I used Concobrium in my crawl space and in my home. It didn't work in the crawl space; I've since learned that the humidity level was too high for the product to be successful (it was at 77% during application). As for the success of Concobrium in my home, it could be operator error as well as humidity level in my home when applying was 65% - perhaps that is too high too.

      @@niseywoods oh my gosh, I wish they'd warned me about that. I made a huge production today/ tonight finally spraying my headboard where white mold was growing in between it and a cardboard window box I'd put other heavier boxes in so my cat could look out, as well as a dresser in my bedroom while it was raining. (I'm disabled so I had to wait till someone could remove the box.) Anyway, I couldn't figure out what I did wrong. I kept reapplying and waiting for it to dry. I had to scrub the dresser, which of course freaked me out cuz I know how it spreads and no more so because it didn't work. I thought I put too much on it or was maybe too close and it was all white and gloppy. It wasn't going away on the headboard, nor did it go away under the white gloppy dresser mess. I also "lightly misted" the carpet the way the woman on the phone told me to. It's almost 6 AM and I'm terrified to go in there. It's supposed to rain tomorrow (technically now today) too! 34 degrees and 84% humidity right now. They really should put a LARGE warning on the bottle and their website about this! I am so tired and this mold crap is so stressful. My very small couch is buried in plastic bags filled with the clothes I have left that weren't destroyed by it when I took them out and to the dry cleaners in July and Sept. They were kind enough to let me leave my things there while I thought my landlord was going to do something about it. I'm living like a homeless person in what used to be a tidy little organized cottage. I live out of bags & had a few things hanging on some plant hooks in the liv rm. My closets don't even have doors on them and even still mold was just eating everything alive. I would never trust to put anything in them again even after spraying the concrobium. What's left in the back room that I couldn't afford to take to the dry cleaners just continues to mold. Every time I check it, there's more. Thankfully the remediator told me to get my wool sweaters out of one of the dressers that mold had eaten through. But, I guess they're probably not safe now either after spraying and spreading it last night.
      This is a nightmare! I don't even know what to do now. I realize I can't open up the door to let the heat in because I don't want my cat to spread it even further, not that it wasn't everywhere already but I was hoping to make it better, not worse. It wasn't as bad in the living room as it was in the bedroom and back room where decades of water leaked in. I learned about that from neighbor's way after the fact. That landlord would never pay anybody to fix it properly, so he eventually just put a rubber roof over it. Somehow the water still leaked in both rooms through the rubber roof.
      I just went in to check it and the cat snuck in there. So, I guess it's official. I can say goodbye to all of my things. Furthermore, not only do I have asthma, but I am verified allergic to this stuff. I'm equally allergic to the five types of mold they test for. I can't breathe in here since this takeover and if I even graze a piece of furniture or the clothes that had it on it, I break out in a 5 hour rash. I've been trying to get my landlord to do something about it since last June! I noticed things weren't right last Feb when I started taking tiny steps again and looked at some clothes. Originally they looked like they had water damage. Some had some very weird colors. I noticed a funny smell and I had trouble breathing, but I'm from Southern California so I wasn't familiar with mold. I had no idea what was happening. By June, it was very clear what was happening and many things just had to be thrown out. New landlord pretended he was going to do something about it after I did volumes of research and after he lied saying he couldn't get anyone to come out cuz of covid. Within 3 days I found 7 companies that were willing to come out. Then he saId: "you didn't need an air quality test. Just have some remediators come out and send me some quotes." One of the remeadiators that came documented everything and showed me in September where it was on and under furniture and what it looked like so I could identify it myself. Apparently, in the two and a half years that I wasn't able to walk at all it started its takeover. Their were terrible leaks in my bedroom and the back room a couple years ago. But, I just assumed it was better when he finally fixed the leaks after several mos.
      This stuff is insidious!
      To be fair to Conchrobium, when a big white thick 'colony' I guess you'd call it, showed up where it wasn't a month before, kinda like on my headboard, I considered it a test run for spraying the headboard and thought what did I have to lose? I just sprayed it and shut the door. It literally pretty much evaporated. I was impressed. There was still a little whiteness to it, but it was nothing compared thick white mold that was there before I sprayed it. I didn't go back over it with a damp concrobium cloth and wipe it down again either. I'd all but kissed off everything in that room already anyway, which wasn't easy. Looking back, it must have been a non humid/ sunny in the the NorthEast for it to work then. I just really wish I'd known about the weather related/ humidity factor before I opened this can of worms last night!
      Thank you to whoever made this video. I wish I watched it before I tried to take this on. And thanks for your comment, Nisey. I know I'm rambling. This is just all too much. I never had a mold problem till I moved here. It's truly overwhelming. And the greed of some landlords is just nothing short of wicked. The amount of money that I've put into this is unbelievable and yesterday I was told by Conchrobium I should get a fogger because of the extent of the mold. It's like there's just no end in sight. If anybody does know of a good fogger please let me know what to try. I'd like to save some of my things, or at list try to minimize this situation while I'm shut in with it through the winter. I'm thinking about trying to go in there w a hairdryer to try and dry it now. I don't know if that would just make it worse. Any advice there would also be appreciated. I'm hoping the video maker might know if that's an option. Thanks also for letting me vent.
      One more statement about Conchrobium working/ not working. Originally, I purchased two jugs and a spray bottle back in June to spray on the clothes, hangers and walls. It takes a really long time to dry on clothes so that ended up being put off until I could have someone help me hang up a clothes line on the porch so it could get enough Sun for it to dry late summer. It's also super humid it here in the summer, so that also explains the issue w drying. Point being, it did okay on heavy dark material. It discolored lightweight material and lighter colored clothes. Because of my situation, I haven't had the chance to put them through the washer to see how it really works. But, so far they just smell like conchrobium and there's been no new mold growth on those items.
      I'm not 100% convinced that the people that work for them completely know what they're talking about because I've gotten different answers from different people in regards to what other things I can spray it on. But I've got two more jugs left and it's starting to seem like the foggers the way to go if the lady today knew what she was talking about when she said I can spray it on jewelry and the large collection of beads/ gemstones etc I used to make jewelry with. The person I spoke with earlier this summer said he didn't think I should be spraying any kind of jewelry or my jewelry making supplies. He also warned me about covering up electronics, cords and plugs. He didn't seem to think I should spray it on my sewing machine either.
      I've lost hundreds of spools of thread in every color imaginable to what when I last checked was more mildew than mold. I have no idea what condition they're in now, as they were kept in of bottom drawer of the dresser that was eaten through by mold and eating into my sweaters. But, the woman today seemed to think if I got a fogger and opened everything up that it would be ok. I don't know anymore. Like I said before, I pretty much have nothing to lose at this point except more money that I don't have to waste if it doesn't work. The 1st person I spoke with at Conchrobium earlier this summer said doing it piece by piece wasn't the way to go about it and I'm fighting a losing battle that way. But, waiting and doing nothings not working either. Its getting worse by the day.
      Update: after the cat went in, I gave up and opened the door to get some heat in there when I was awake and he was sleeping. If I had a space heater, I'd have used that. I pray I didn't make a mistake but it was so cold in there it had no hope of drying w the door shut. Another thing that remediator told me was that the moisture content in the walls kept getting higher and higher as it went up toward the ceiling and around the windows he pointed out weren't caulked correctly and said that was another place moisture was coming in. If I remember correctly I think he said it was 19 percent in the bedroom closet. Landlord ignored all that. My place is maybe 500 sq feet. And there's nowhere for a dehumidifier in here. I used a window air conditioner in the summer as a dehumidifier and had someone take the back room door off so it could get moisture out of here that way. But that door is back up now to keep the heating costs down. I have an air purifier in my bedroom and before putting that in I was waking up every morning with a sore throat. Feeling so hopeless. Any advice would truly be appreciated, Michael or if anyone else has any ideas. I'm not strong enough to get an air scrubber or rent a Hepa vac. And, the only girl I know thinks this can all be done with Vinegar and baking soda.

      @@heidi1552 I'm so sorry to hear you're dealing with this. It sounds like you need to get a dehumidifier in there to help dry the area out before you apply anymore cleaner, which can just add more moisture and not work properly if the surfaces are not dry. For non-organic, non-porous items (like your jewelry and sewing machine) can be easily cleaned with warm soapy water and thoroughly dried. For the areas that are organic and porous (drywall, wood, etc), wait until the dehumidifier has dried out the space before applying the cleaner again, then after it has been applied and dried, you will need to physically remove the mold so that it is less likely to come back. It sounds like what is happening is the dead mold is becoming food for new mold growth due to the high humidity. We prefer the Anabec cleaners and we also have foggers and sprayers available on our DIY Store: diy.crawlspaceninja.com/mold-products/. If it is too bad to handle on your own I would urge you to contact your landlord again to see if he will have professionals come in to address the mold and moisture issues. Look into local laws to see if your state holds landlords responsible for providing safe and livable housing, a lot do and you may be able to take legal action if needed.

      @R S Not at this time. You should be able to have a mold remediation company fog the ductwork and then have your ducts cleaned. You can also try it DIY if you want. You will want to seal those holes in the ductwork before you do any remediation though.

    Get small electronic thermometers that have a humidstat and can store the peak numbers; high and low temp and humidity %. Keep humi under 55%, which is not always easy when temps drop in wet weather. Don't seal off your windows with heavy drapes, they need air flow you dry out condensation. Low on bucks? Get cheap fans for each area and move the air around forcefully and if you can, put dehumidifiers in each room - they do use a lot of elec power.

      If you are referring to soda blasting a crawl space after the plastic is down, we don't recommend although sometimes it is necessary. We have seen people install plastic and not address mold and then decide to address mold. The plastic usually suffers greatly if this is done and would in many cases, maybe not all, need to be replaced. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

    @CrawlSpaceNinja, I plan to spray my hardwood floors with Concrobium Mold Control in the interior of my guest room in my house.
    Question: Is Concrobium Mold Control safe to leave on the floors, both for saturation impacts and to have in our breathing air?
    Long story short, last year's flooding (Central Fl) left roughly 7 inches of standing water under my house due to the incorrect pitching of my property. Essentially, underneath my crawl space and surrounding my house becomes a miniature pond, where my house is a floating island on brick stilts (built in '35).

    We recently did a Petri dish test in our HVAC vents and we are seeing multiple types of mold growth. Our air handler was just replaced so I know any contamination is in the ducts themselves. Using a horoscope camera, I don’t see any major growth of mold, just what appears to be light dust in our 20 year old flex duct. So I’d like to try introducing Comcrobium into the ductwork immediately after the air handler, to distribute it throughout the system.
    Would this work? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Or perhaps I need to replace all of the flex duct and then somehow clean the few pieces of metal duct.
    I look forward to your answer.

      Hey thebighat99, Concrobium Mold Control contains no bleach or whiteners. Once you have sprayed the solution on the moldy surface and allowed it to dry, the mold has been encapsulated and eliminated - in other words, your mold problem has been eradicated. If staining or residue remains, scrub with a Concrobium-dampened cloth or brush - or take other cosmetic steps to improve the look of the surface. Remember that once the cleaning step is complete it’s important to leave a layer of Concrobium Mold Control on the surface to provide mold resistance.

      It's moved to the entire house. Killing it makes it explode and actually spread. It eats thru plastic, metal, wood.. everything. I believe it's powdery mildew and rust at least. It's naturally on oak trees which are around outside my property. The dry air conditions I now have in the house really seem to make it worse.
      I'm thinking I need to contact an agricultural dept at this point but idk.

    What do you think about using Sporicidin in mold remediation?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  4 роки тому +1

      We do not have experience with it since we do not use EPA registered products. I would check their documentation to see if it claims to disinfect mold spores or not. We prefer peroxide based products for mold removal, like the Anabec system.

    Can mold treatment be done after encapsulation, even with my new aprilaire dehumidifiers I can’t get my crawl space below 80%. But I wanted to do mold treatment before laying down plastic. Thanks

      Did you find an answer to this?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Рік тому

      You need to have all mold treatment and removal completed before you encapsulate your crawl space. It should be free of mold once it has been encapsulated. Additionally, as previously mentioned, encapsulation helps prevent moisture from entering. Mold shouldn't be able to grow there.

    Does Concrobrium work on contact or does it need to be "scrubbed" in?

    I want to fog my HVAC with Concrobium. But my coil is in a metal case that is only 1 inch away from the cabinet. How do I introduce the fog into the HVAC enough that it pulls it all through the system with all the vents closed but the furthest away, when the only time I get any air suction is when the filter is in place?
    I would be SO GRATEFUL if you could tell me what I should do. We are pretty desperate here.

      Try closing all registers but the furthest one. Attach a fan to suck air out of that register and have it directed out a window. Then take out the filter and fog through the return where the filter is. This is how most mold companies handle this kind of situation. Hope this helps!

      @@CrawlSpaceNinja Hi Crawl Space Ninga. I pretty much just wrote a book here last night. It started out as a response to the person who most recently responded at the top of this pg, but soon turned into questions for you too and a mold rant session. I didn't tag you, but I too would be so grateful if you could answer any of the Q's I asked in there. I know you guys have the ability to see comments we write to each other, but I don't know if you'll be alerted without my specifically responding to your comment. Thanks in advance.

    If I use the concrobium and the fogger in my living space (using a dehumidifier in that room). Allow it dry, etc. Do I still need an air purifier in order to start scrubbing? I plan to get one anyway just to "clean" the spores out, but do I need an industrial strength machine?
