My brother installs these pre cut covers and charges about $400 to$600 per hour for install. I believe his last job was $1200 in material and 3700 for labor. But he was done in about 3 hours
Somehow I missed seeing some trapped water under the PPF before sealing the edges. It appears to be about a half teaspoon. Will it evaporate in the sun over time?
Pretty good amount there. You can see the middle caving in a bit when I squeegee. Use two hands for more force if needed. However, you don't want it to be too much force that you're dragging the film, only the water underneath. The goal is to get all the water out without any bubbles left behind, so if you see any streaks or white spots after squeegeeing, then squeegee harder. The biggest thing is really to overlap your strokes and apply an even pressure all the way through.
You spray slip everywhere under the film to make sure it "slips" around and slides into place, and then use tack when you need to flush out slip solution and "tack" something down. So yes, only for certain spots.
@@tesbros Thanks for the quick response. Another dumb question. If you’re only using the tack solution around certain spots on the edges does that mean the film has its own tack that eventually sticks to the car ….. what is not clear to me is what makes the film stick if you are not spraying it all with tack solution….
Good questions! The film has adhesive that's activated by the solutions and squeegeeing. The tack just gives it that extra stick which is really needed when you’re stretching. With only slip when stretching, it might stay but it doesn’t grab as aggressively.
@@tesbros thanks 🙏 I think I will give it a try your video was very good. I just bought the 2023 model y AWD can you recommend a film. Also we’re can I get the two solutions that was not clear do I make it or buy it? Thanks again
Congrats! You can buy our front ppf kit here - tesbros.com/products/diy-front-protection-kit-ppf-for-model-y - and it includes the bumper, fenders, headlights/foglights, mirrors, and hood, along with the solutions and everything you need to complete the project. How long after install can you remove the contamination? I just did my hood ppf and it is perfect except for one piece of dust in the middle of the hood.
That’s not an ideal location since you would have to remove most of the film to get it out. Honestly, I would leave it if you can live with it since you risk more contamination, bubbles, stretching and glue lines by lifting it up. Especially as I see this message was from 30 min ago, I bet it's pretty tacked down already. The dust spot will dissipate overtime!
However, if it's a big issue for you, email us a support@tesbros.com with photos if you have any more questions or want to see about getting a replacement piece.
@@tesbros appreciate it! I'll see how it settles in the next couple days and if it's still pissing me off I'll get in touch. I love the tutorials and your guys support is awesome!
@@mmpressey we only offer the front kit right now (bumper, mirrors, fenders, hood, headlights and fog lights). If you want to purchase this now and then the rest of the full body kit when it comes out in a few months, we’ll have that option!
1-2 hours for the bumper. For the front kit (bumper, fenders, mirrors, headlights/foglights, and hood), it'll take 8-12 hours. For the entire Model Y, I would double that time at least. It would take 2-3 days for a full wrap realistically.
You should not wax after prep. You want the paint to be in its most original form with no coatings for the ppf to adhere properly. You can ceramic coat after installation.
This looks so therapeutic
Amazing tutorial video with patience I clearly do not possess. I envy you guys that are able to do this DIY and save loads of $$$ in the process 😢.
We believe in you 😊

@@adamgen1236$4500 is a great deal for full PPF in my area. $5000-7500 is average.

What kind of the liquid you mix in the water bottle red spray and the blue bottle liquid spray, please, thanks very much..❤

I bought a can of color matched Rustoleum oil based high gloss paint and touch up the bumper as needed. Cost $12.
Great tutorial. Hope you are offering PPF for the s/x too like the chrome delete.
We will!
Next video Can you explain without using the “go ahead”?
Then some will go behind instead
I have a ceramic coating on my car. How can I remove it before applying PPF?
You would have to get it polished off professionally
I always see of on black looking like a Matt color . Does the of make it look like that or is there a gloss clear as well?
Somehow I missed seeing some trapped water under the PPF before sealing the edges. It appears to be about a half teaspoon. Will it evaporate in the sun over time?
It should within a week or so
@ 11:45 how much force are you applying when you squeegee?

Tesbros,
It looks like you offer the full front ppf kit for Model Y. Will you be offering full body kit?
Yes! We will this year. If you already have the front kit, there will be an option to purchase the rest.
Thank you for the quick reply. I’m going to hold off on buying since I will not receive our Model Y for another 2-3 months.

$800 dyu more expensive than the shop😂

This was installed in matte to make it easier to see in camera without a glare.
Curb rash. The owner can’t drive.

@TESBROS very realistic numbers. Now I understand why pro wraps are $$$ for the time and skill.
Would it be a good idea to wax the area after washing? I suppose the question would apply to PPF prep in general.
You should not wax after prep. You want the paint to be in its most original form with no coatings for the ppf to adhere properly. You can ceramic coat after installation.
