I feel like Uglydolls would be a different story if Moxy discovered that she actually has something in common with Lou, since they feel trapped bc they were both told that they couldn’t go to the big world and be loved
The way Lou’s voice breaks when he says “I was never allowed to go to the big world” really struck me hard. You can literally hear him breaking, I mean, just how long has he been bottling that up because he couldn’t risk getting caught dropping his “perfect” charade.
To me, this scene is the most heartbreaking in the entire movie. Here we are shown how Lou, who all this time gave the impression of an arrogant, carefree bully, unexpectedly for everyone, takes off his mask and shows how broken and unhappy he really is, that he experienced much more grief than the main characters, on whose suffering the attention of the whole movie is focused, and why he does his evil deeds, tired of hiding it all inside. The creators did everything they could to make us hate him and rejoice in his defeat at the end, but instead, they created the most attractive and interesting character in the story, which touched the hearts of many. No matter how much there was talk about it, but I still believe that Lou didn't deserve what was done to him at the end, in fact, forcing him to beg for the right to live in a defenseless state in front of all his students who felt dominated by him, whom Lou tried to train to live in the human world and be the perfect toy. "If you wash a thousand plates, everyone will forget it, but if you break one, everyone will remember it". And I really believe that most of his "bad" actions were either justified or incomparable to the amount of good he gave to many others. Yes, you can call me a simp and stuff like that, but I stick to this point of view, no matter how many people are against it. If you want, I can discuss this topic with you in the replies and explain everything as politely and reasonably as possible. Despite the fact that the director of this film passed a long time ago (RIP), I still hope that someday another studio will buy this franchise and make a much more interesting continuation of the first film, where Lou would be revealed much better and get his redemption arc, no matter how old for this will have to wait. I watched this animated movie for the first time at the age of 15 and, three years later, I still feel a tender affection for Lou and my heart is still breaking from what this movie ended up with.
At the end it's sad cause it turns out he was a doll too but just wanted to be loved turns out he was not evil or bad or anything just wanted to be loved since he said "How could an ugly doll like you deserve to be loved while i can't?!" It was kind of heartbreaking
I kinda relate to how he feels. I also had that mentality because my parents wanted me to be the top of the class since I was very young and I saw other kids just playing happily and acting so nonchalantly while I only got to watch them from a distance. I was very mean to other people especially those who had lower grades and still got to be happy, I was like "How can you guys fail class and still be happy while me the one who has been studying most of my life and got the highest grades never got to be happy?"
3:08 That quiet whisper “no”, that Lou gave, honestly broke my heart a little. Even thought he crossed the finish line, it blinked and basically denied him from ever leaving that place. He tried to get out of there by winning the gauntlet, he knew he didn’t have a chance and he still tired, but when he crossed the line and looked down only to see he was never to leave this place, it was actually kind of hear breaking to watch. That quiet “no.” *”I guide others to a treasure I cannot posses.”*
@@TheGav67 We're not rooting for him where he was rude and disrespectful, no one will and never will anyone do so. But, no one deserves to be sad or lonely or even hated either. It's society that essentially shapes a person, not just the parents, not just the friends, not just the family or their teachers or even their pets, but society as a whole. For me, I blame everyone because their actions and words can and will affect a person and the outcome of him or her life. To me, Lou seems to have abandonment issues which made him to be bitter and jealous of the others, thus, his actions. Ofc, I didn't and turned out to be a bully and I have many many friends who support and love me, but there is this very bitter side of me too, kinda like Lou. 1:49 That was a perfect reaction for Moxy. Torn between shock and confusion at Lous behaviour towards the baby. She probably already knew that babies like to behave this way around toys and she thought Lou knew this too. But Lou chose to act rather harshly and violently around an innocent child, yelling and even kicking the poor thing. So yeah, even if Lou wasn’t a prototype to begin with, he would’ve failed anyway. And Moxy was smart to choose not to cross the finish line and instead comfort the baby, telling it that it would be ok and letting it cuddle her. I love this because Moxy always kept saying that she wanted to find her own special child to love. I’ll repeat that. To love. Not to be loved. And that’s what she showed to the baby. Love. Lou always made the rules that a child who owns a doll has to only love you and you need to be perfect for them to love you. He neglected the fact that you need to give love in return. In fact, the scene where Moxy and her friends first enter Perfection, she pictures herself in place of a perfect doll lying next to a child with a broken arm. And her fantasy shows her, sweetly wiping a tear from the kids face. That shows just how lovely of a character that Moxy is. Sorry. I’m in my 20s but I love this movie. It’s honestly made me feel better about myself and no one can tell me otherwise. That and I love the songs. I listen to the soundtrack on Spotify all the time.
That’s true that it was a robot, but it was programmed to behave and feel like a real baby. So Lou still shouldn’t have acted the way he did. Even if he wasn’t a prototype, kicking the robot baby would’ve earned him an instant fail.
FINALLY, someone who got the point of the story: kindness & compassion (and a little imperfection) over correctness & untouchable perfection. The latter two will turn anyone into a heartless psychopath.
Agree but when u look at the backstory of lou and ox together lou seemed completely different and is true to training other dolls to pass so if he werent to be a prototype and did the test, he probably would know how to deal with the baby and pass. (Im not rlly sure with this but its how i see it)
Big kudos to whomever came up with this plot twist. It explains so much about why Lou is the way he is. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but it does make you feel for him.
"how could someone as ugly as you be accepted and loved while someone as perfect as I never could and never will" i'm sorry to say but "thats the ugly truth"
It's not about what you are on the outside its what you are that defines you. As long as you have love and compassion in your heart you will always be loved
Watch it and see if you like it! I personally love it. It has some decent music and nice characters designs, but you gotta make your own opinion of it!
@@Grass975 Also there's no shame in being the proto type, he's basically the leader who decides who goes and who stays. He don't know the honour the factory bestowed upon him
Lou was the only thing good about this movie I felt so freaking bad for him at the end of the movie. You can hear his voice cracking when he was revealing he was the prototype. He could never be loved by anyone and it breaks my heart. I really hated that he didn't get a happy ending and that the writers still tried to make him look like a truly bad guy when all he was was broken 💔
When I watched the movie for the first time, I thought of an explanation, but I don't think it's true : At 3:06, when he fell and landed behind that line, look at his face when it started to glow red! I think that's when that program realized he was a prototype and would automatically fail. So, I guess he thought everything would turn out fine as long as he didn't cross that line. Like I said, this is an old theory that I thought up like.... 1 or 2 years ago or something! By now, I think maybe he just didn't care anymore! And who could blame him! He has kept the secret that he is a prototype for so long now, and now the uglydolls come and destroy everything he worked so hard to build. He just wanted to get rid of them for good, no matter what! Even if anyone or everyone would find out his secret. That's also why he wasn't bothered when the cat was out of the bag! Infact, he even seemed relieved!
I feel that Lou represents the sin of Envy pretty well, as he was jealous of Ox being able to be loved by a child as an ugly doll (roll credits, LMAO) while someone as good looking as him could not, due to his prototype status. He used his arrogance as a mask for his insecurities and bitter grudge against his old friend, all because he couldn't handle someone with imperfections being loved by someone. And in a way, he took it out on everyone.
That is true sure he made the dolls miserable but he almost freaking killed them- he’s an insane person and a villain and also a broken one I kinda blame Ox though he said to Lou he would never go out to the big world he made a promise yet he broke that promise he was wanting to go to the big world he was ready..
yeah i was lonely for a while but nolan told me he would be my husband and we got married and then what do you know I got pregnant and had 4 children it was horrible but it went fine.
I understand both sides, he really didn't deserve some things, like being a prototype, but other times he did because he wouldn't have learned if he didn't
My fav character is Lou because I personally think that he is really cool but even tho he is a jerk on the outside, all he wants is to be loved on the inside.
Yeah, Lou wasn’t bad, but one can get sick and tired… about…never leave a place, Lou even knowing that couldn’t leave that place, he tried, he tried… and hearing that “no” after “crossed” the line, breaks hearts
Okay but Lou isn't that much of a bad guy he was programmed to see all flaws and train everyone to go to the big world to have a kid to love the, but he can never get that love like the rest.
When the baby started to cry , I started to cry a lot 😢. I don't know why, but tears came out of my eyes. I felt to watch this scene again and again.... i know that the baby is not real, but it still made me cry. When that horrible doll hit the baby with his foot, it broke my heart! 😢 Poor baby! 😢😢😢😢 This scene made me cry alot...😢
The movie was amazing! I loved Moxi so much, And i almost cried when she helped the robot baby calm down :) I felt so happy and sad at the same time :v
Honest critic's view opinion on the film? Animation is decent but not outstanding, plot is mediocre, I'm aware they're cashing in on an old brand but they're not even ugly despite the branding (mostly minimalistic and 'deformed'), the message is decent too. Bit forced in but it's harmless compared to some flicks but it's decent for something to watch to keep kids quiet without not giving them something to think about in a good way. It's corny but as I said, harmless despite that cringy music but still decent for children. Not very entertaining for adults and teens. Let it pass says I. 3.6/10.
Agree to disagree on the last part. I love this movie, and I’m going to be 21 this year. My sis who is 4 years older then me and I love the music too. Every time I start “Couldn’t Be Better” my sis smiles😋😊💖💚!
I may just be a salty sailor but just this clip alone makes me feel like this is the most mailed in movie. The line delivery feels so stale at almost every turn, and I get that the theme and messaging is good but disengaging storytelling really takes away from it.
Staying in the same place forever to help others get the happy life that he longs for, seeing all the people he must have cared for leaving him one by one for who knows how many time already considering he's been there way before, he's a mold aka the "perfect" one out of them all yet no matter how great he is he can never be free, it must've felt really unfair for him, no wonder he's such a jerk, this kind of situation would drive anyone crazy. Some may have different ways to cope with that such as continuing the "leader" role proprely and hoping you'd be given a chance (stay in this circle forever), complitely give up on hoping and isolate oneself (high possibility of being thrown away due to uselessness) , or go feral and try to destroy everything around (high chance of being destroyed and remplaced), but he choose to be the way he is so i can't blame him. Of course that doesn't excuse all the horrible stuffs he did but that explain the why he's like that
Except that robot baby is more like a real one than the old Pixar one, it just looked like a hauntingly crawling baby toy. (I’m sorry but that short didn’t aged well today)
I feel bad for Lou honestly. I get that’s he’s the antagonist of the movie but I think he got his evil demeanor after years of being forced to help others get loved by humans but never being able to be loved himself.

(Im not rlly sure with this but its how i see it)
Thats was amazing statement!
Big kudos to whomever came up with this plot twist. It explains so much about why Lou is the way he is. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but it does make you feel for him.
Is it bad that I want Lou as an actual doll more than anyone else in the movie…

Lou was the only thing good about this movie
I felt so freaking bad for him at the end of the movie. You can hear his voice cracking when he was revealing he was the prototype. He could never be loved by anyone and it breaks my heart.
I really hated that he didn't get a happy ending and that the writers still tried to make him look like a truly bad guy when all he was was broken 💔
Bro why lou even try going through when he knew it wasn't gonna work
Because he was reckless.
Desperation
He still shouldn't have done it. He was running the test to make himself look better in front of his subjects.
When I watched the movie for the first time, I thought of an explanation, but I don't think it's true :
At 3:06, when he fell and landed behind that line, look at his face when it started to glow red!
@@Aruna_Shadows this...is actually a really good explanation. 0-0
Thankyou lunamoon.

Lou seems sorta like a tragic-ish villian but that still doesn't make what he's done ok
That is true sure he made the dolls miserable but he almost freaking killed them- he’s an insane person and a villain and also a broken one I kinda blame Ox though he said to Lou he would never go out to the big world he made a promise yet he broke that promise he was wanting to go to the big world he was ready..
Tbh, Lou did it on himself that even if he's permitted to go, he'll still fail by his spiteful nature
Man! I feel so bad for whoever would have wound up as Lou's wife!

this needs more likes
Agree to disagree on the last part. I love this movie, and I’m going to be 21 this year. My sis who is 4 years older then me and I love the music too. Every time I start “Couldn’t Be Better” my sis smiles😋😊💖💚!
I may just be a salty sailor but just this clip alone makes me feel like this is the most mailed in movie. The line delivery feels so stale at almost every turn, and I get that the theme and messaging is good but disengaging storytelling really takes away from it.

I love how in the movie they are like who kicks a baby and they don't think only once that people want to
Ugly dolls seem more comfy then an actual doll, i'd take one over "the perfect dolls" any day
Staying in the same place forever to help others get the happy life that he longs for, seeing all the people he must have cared for leaving him one by one for who knows how many time already considering he's been there way before, he's a mold aka the "perfect" one out of them all yet no matter how great he is he can never be free, it must've felt really unfair for him, no wonder he's such a jerk, this kind of situation would drive anyone crazy.
