You whining complaining bitches. Is this your tank????? No? Then shut the fuck up with all the bitching. He can paint it pink with rainbows all over if he wishes.
We get it Neal. The owner is American. Fuck history or reality. Surprised it hasen't got "Fury" written on the barrel.
I Have built several M51 Isherman tank ,models and they look fine in olive drab, makes you think what would have happened if a M51 fought a tiger..
The owner is British and lives in the UK
Neal Edmondson Didn’t your mother and father ever teach you that your mouth wasn’t made for breaking wind. People don’t have to curse when they talk.
Who is it Mick?
To be honest, I’d rather see it painted back to its color before the restoration. But it’s better to have it painted as it is now, than have it either rot away or scrapped. Imagine having these Super Shermans during WW2!
The Tigers truly would have been screwed!
You've got to be proud of that restoration. It looks and sounds awesome! Thank you. Because I know that you do for those of us that care about those kinds of things. We appreciate it!
Nice restoration! Glad to see these rolling pieces of history being maintained.
The halftrack looked great, too!
I don't think I've ever seen such a complete restoration before. Well done!
"Get there firstest with the mostest"...it worked for Nathan Bedford Forrest and with the M51 the Israelis....speed and power.I edited to say that tank looks INCREDIBLE....beautiful JOB!
Wow, what a beauty. I love the Sherman so much. In the middle of the 80's, as i was a child, i saw the Movie "Tank" with James Garner, ever since i've loved the Sherman. Excellent work guys.
Best wishes from Germany.
When I saw part 1 I thought "where's the turret?" NOW I see it and it is beautiful. Congratulations!
WOW!!! That M51 is a thing of beauty!!! I wish it was my other Car like those bumper stickers I've seen.
Beautiful job!!! Its a gorgeous looking tank!!! I'm in love!
Personally, considering this M51 was once a US Army M4A1, I think she looks great!
M-50's were M4A4's (mostly). M-51's were mostly M1A1's and A2's.
I am unsure if any M4A1s were used by the US Army in Europe. I believe they standardized on the M4A3s and gave the Brits and the French the M4A1...
What a great job! I applaud you for doing this and doing it in the way you please. I respect the desire for historical accuracy and would love to see the tank in the original IDF colours, but hey! Have fun! We will all save up and buy our own to restore (personally I like the multi-shade red that I saw on a Japanese Manga film a while ago)..
Wow, what a beautiful piece of WWII history! The Sherman played a big part in the defeat of Nazi Germany. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful restoration job,my compliments!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
These vehicles are historically important and the current owner is only the custodian. It is perfectly normal for people to be upset by the inaccurate paint scheme. Just as it normal for people who can't stand complaining of any kind to push back about something they are ignorant of. 😙
Great job and nice to see it looking good and running again!
Israeli paint scheme or US paint scheme, glad another incredibly rare piece of history exists...Although, I do like the sand yellow paint scheme for that tank, it just seems right to me.
Yes, at least they didn't chop the 105 barrel down and torch off all the external stowage. Eventually someone with a brain will repaint it.
I think she looks great, and the fact that she's still running is no small feat either.
Israeli M50 Ishermans with original 76mm guns were originally painted olive drab, and unconfirmed reports state that early/initial issue M51 Super Sherman's may have been painted olive drab as well. Later all IDF tanks were painted the either a sand/yellow color or IDF grey green. Anybody serve with IDF M-51 units have some insight into this issue regarding paint schemes. BTW, the owner can paint his tank any way he chooses and I hope for God's sake he doesn't take someone's suggestion to cut the barrel.
Nice work! And to the arm chair historians below: If you are talking ETO/WW2 era Sherman it's not green. It's Olive Drab. Green was used by the Marines. The series "The Pacific" got this right.
Wonderful crew of people.
Beautiful tank.
Congratulations on a job well done.
Love the Cummins Diesel engine. Epic restoration. Would have liked to see it painted as appropriate for the Israeli unit it served with vs it’s D-Day clown outfit. Dealing with classic car owners a lot I’ve seen many historic cars tarted up due to “taste.” People best described as “more money than sense.”
absolutely amazing! you have a fantastic toy sir! respect!
Woah real Nice!!!! Good job
Don't get me wrong it's a beautiful restoration, 👍🏻great job guys
What a beautiful restoration, thank god there are still people like yourselves who have a passion to preserve the past.Who is the artist in the background music?
MICK YOUR VIDEOS ARE VERY GOOD I ALWAYS LOOK AT IT VERY GOOD JOB!!!
I also think it looks ridiculous to put this thing in WW2 US Army colors and have it running around with crewmen wearing US Army tanker uniforms. Just ridiculous. Yes, the owner of the tank can paint it anyway he wants, but then don't call it a "restoration", because it's not really a restoration is it?
I appreciate the work that went into the restoration but to paint it in US colors with stars and not Israeli defense force colors just makes it seem... well not a true restoration its not an M4 its an M51
Samuel Lynch It’s still an Israeli tank though. It doesn’t bother me that it’s in US markings, but you make it sound like this was built as is in the US, which isn’t true. Quiet a few M4A1s were given the new HVSS suspension (the E8 in Easy Eight), and these *were* built and used by the US in WWII. But the Super Sherman came out of a joint venture between France and Israel to make an effective tank. France wanted it because they didn’t have much of a tank industry (since they stopped existing for 4 years and all), and Israel just wanted a tank they could defend themselves with. The first was the M50, featuring a modified M4 75mm turret with a French copy of the Panther gun on top of a various welded Sherman hulls (usually with HVSS suspension). The one shown, the M51, was built on M4A1s with HVSS suspension. However, these used modified Sherman 76mm turrets and were fitted with the 105mm gun you mentioned. Sorry I ranted, but I just wanted to clarify that it shouldn’t at all be in US markings. But it’s his tank, so he can do what he wants with it.
M-51's are M4's....
Love it- fantastic job. And that Cummins :-)
Taking a vote. Since painting the tank in the correct paint scheme and marking is so abhorrent to the owner I think he should paint it hot pink to ‘finish the restoration’.
If you think the same, then like this comment. I’m sure their local Walmart have enough cans of spray paint to do the job. Do it right kids.
Very cool , love the look of that tank.
What a fantastic rebuild! First rate all the way!
I wish i can have a Tank and drive to work every day!
Fantastic restoration.
Nice rebuild. Good attention to details. About the color scheme, fuck the haters. It looks awesome and that Cummins sounded sick.
Hi! Great work! Nice to see the cummins running! Why not desertcolour and Israeli markings?
Martin Sellberg
It's not a M50 Cummins, it's a M51. The only big difference was the weapon, the M50 had a 75 mm gun and the M51 had the big 105. As for the paint scheme, this particular Super Sherman was once a US Army M4A1 built in 1944, so they decided to let her wear the colors she once wore in WWII
Totally missed the point. Why not paint it hot pink.
The only up side is that a new owner in the future can strip off the idiots handiwork and finish the ‘restoration’. Until the it is just a toy to take to events. Sad.
Idiot? Listen here, he owns that tank. He can paint it hot pink if he wanted too. Personally, I think she looks great in her WWII colors, and the fact that she's still running is no small feet. I would much rather having her show up to an event three times a year rather than welded shut and never move again.
Great to see this wonderful thing running
Huge huge effort in restoring this beast back to it's origins, well done guys..simply magnificent.
Question, why didn't it get restored to the Israel version it was? Still looks great!!!!
Oh yeah, i love the M51 Supersherman!!! ❤🤘
Muy bueno. Estos carros sirvieron en el Ejército de Chile durante lardos años: desde fines de los setenta hasta pasada la mitad de los años noventa. Gracias por el video.
Another less well known Sherman upgrade, is one with the French FL-10 turret with a 75mm gun!.
Beautiful restoration, however to add petrol to the flames, I too would have loved to have seen this restored in Israeli colours. That said, I'm sure there is an M51 preserved as an Israeli example?
Love the m51 great restoration only thing wrong is the thick chevron tracks but getting to correct rubbers would cost a fortune
WHY DIDN'T YOU PUT IT IN ISREALY COLORS?
BILL MILLER then can't go to ww2 events no need for tanks after WW 2 at dress up events.
Why can't you spell Israeli correctly?
Great restoration and alot of job ruined by unreal finish.. pity.
Hey where’s the other vids ???!
Don’t leave us hanging??
That sucks!!
I really enjoy your work and how you’re laying it out.
I want to see it done and running...
That is a lot of work to restore it and they did a good job
What a lovely M51
Awesome.... that's all I can say!.
Looks better than they day it was built I bet.
The wide tracks look bad ass.
I wonder if that version of a Sherman had been invented and entered service in early WW2 how it would have effected the battle record. I’m sure it would have had some effect upon the Tiger and the Panzer while being mass produced it would have been the equal of the Russians.
There was an experimental Sherman with the turret from an M26 tested on it. They had the same turret ring diameter. That happened in the summer of 44 but never went into production. Imagine the impact that would've had on the battle. Historically, however, shooting at tanks/assault guns was only 16% of the total targets engaged by Allied tanks. The other 84% were guns, troops and buildings. In a ranking done by the US Army after the war, troops preferred the 75mm 1st for that, the 90mm second and then the 76mm, which had a much smaller bursting charge.
I get your point. However they still would have to get them there, get them to the front lines, and get them over temporary bridges the Engineers quickly built over rivers. Those bridges were not usually made for heavy tanks. It could have been done but it would have probably meant a lot fewer tanks in the field.
Great video! Gretings from Chile! 🇨🇱
Amazing job for a amazing results i really love this tank
Love, a old friend was in one many years ago in South Korea right on the DMZ, but that one didn’t have an engine!
That is one beaut M51 Super Sherman. This is one nicely restored M51 Super Sherman.
The Sherman should have had this 105mm gun in WW2 as it would have out ranged the Tiger 1 and King Tiger, but that would have been wishful thinking.
Excellent Work !!!!! Superb Result
Seeing a sherman floor it was amazing
Absolutely a great job .
Great to see this at war and peace. Lovely restoration. Like new.
Such an awesome job and I personally love the American markings
It's a pity that US tankers didn't have this vehicle during WWII.
Paladin 06 they did.
@@howardcrowe6743 They did not have M50s or M51s in world war 2
@@howardcrowe6743 Gun, Engine, Armor, all upgraded by Israel. This gun is capable of killing t55`s and t-62`s.
@Sylling Boy The ammo of the t-29 is AP ballistic capped, the ones on the 105 of that one are the same on the Leopard 1 tanks, APDS rounds, that have much higher penetration due to less weight(also better ``aerodinamics``) and better muzzle velocity. Hull armor is sure to be pierced, turret probably could bounce depending of angle of impact.
@Sylling Boy Never said it beats, said it could kill, and sure it could.
Did a GOOD JOB, Guys ! . . . she looks "Real Good" !
I am glad they painted in the U.S. Army Green.
Beautiful tank. Great job !!
This would have been a Panther and Tiger 'killer' in World War Two. :-)
A pity that it was 20 years late...
By the way: Israel never used the name 'Super Sherman', they used the name 'Isherman' instead.
now its a t62 killer, just as good
Now, unlike popular belief with previous comments, I am in no way, shape, or form complaining. But I do ask this question. As a historian, why is it that an M-51 Super Sherman - which is from the 1960’s - is painted in the Olive Drab of the Western Allies of World War II (1939-1945). The reason I ask is I feel like anyone from Israel 🇮🇱- of which one distant ancestor of mine came from back when it was the British Mandate of Palestine 🇵🇸, would potentially ask why is it painted in a color it never had? In my eyes, when it comes to restoration work, accuracy is a pretty important element in the process. And seeing this, even though it’s impressive - imagine a Tiger I crew staring down that big 105mm gun, I still think, in my fact-based opinion, it would be more respectful if it was painted in Israeli colors. But it is a good job all the same.
Beautiful work! I'm impressed. I wonder if they could do an '87 Yugo for me?
Just imagine if the US 4th Armored Division had M-51s or even just M-50s during The Battle of the Bulge…
What a wonderful sound! Is that the original engine, or did the Israeli military swap if after acquiring these?
I like the Cummins painted in Caterpillar yellow.
Beautiful job.
Excellent Work men!!!!!
Excellent job !!!!!!
Compare how smooth and absolutely normal driving this Sherman is, compared to the jerky, barely controllable action of the Tiger and Tiger IIs in other videos.
He did, and his mates did a grear restoration.
Very nice :D
a cummins that wants to be a CAT lol
The US argued the 76mm gun was too big for the M4 Sherman's turret, but eventually designed a bigger turret to fit the 76 on the Sherman; even then, conditions were cramped.
The French used the original, small Sherman turret, and fit a 105mm in it.
I don't want to know what it was like crewing that tank.
It was a relatively low impulse (recoil), like a howitzer, 105mm that relied upon barrel length and HEAT and HE for effectiveness. That is how they got away with it.
@Mike Wilson:
Don't listen to these complainers! You did a beautiful restoration job!
As someone who loves What-If's, and Alternate Histories, I'd have loved to have these facing down Panzer IV Ausf J's rather than plain old M-4's! *SEND THOSE TO THE RUSKIES!*
Some Israeli centurions did fight some panzer IV J's and Stug 3's during the 6 day war.
@@jstrainsstuff2386 :
How well did they do?
@@Dreaded88 not very well they didn't stand a chance against the centurions
@@jstrainsstuff2386 :
Joy!!! *_:D_*
very nice
I can honestly care less who the tank belongs to, if your “restoring” a tank it means returning it to its original look. If the tank was Israeli and it was given to them by us, paint the tank with the same colors.
Amazing job
Very nice job and tank.
A yes, the Tiger's feared adversary, the 105 mm Super Sherman
Is it possible to increase the power of your v12 engine by increasing the size of the turbo? how much extra power could be added to it from its 450 original horses and what cruising speed could be obtained for sure it is possible to increase its speed, making it faster would still be a weapon to consider despite being old I think that with 1000 horsepower in the v12 engine it would be possible
How much would a Sherman cost to buy and restore?
I think the owner is not going to drive this tank in deserts any time soon, so he painted it accordingly to where he lives. Which is what this tank would be painted if they had ever been sent there officially.
Nice to have fun toys like that
Why green? It was not a ww2 or korean war vehicle.
because its his tank
@@xianeli8473 it's retarded
Olive green is a color that got used a lot by the U.S. military.
Ok so it is his tank so he can whatever he wants with it and personally I like it and the only different of the M51 super Sherman and the M4A3E8 is the muzzle break
REstoration? More of a customisation. Restoration implies a degree of historical accuracy.....its pity to go to all that effort, and then spoil it at the end with a dodgy paint job.
A camo pattern would look amazing. Nice Resto!
Nice job, would be nice to see it fire a few rounds.
Im Sorry but there is no difference in using the M51 Super Sherman in a WW2 re-enactment and using an M47 Patton... neither of these tanks were in WW2 but were based off WW2 tanks, but that doesn't make them correct for re-enacting... And why would a Brit want a tank in US markings? Especially on one that never served in the US Army? Its baffling...
Any idea what power this this will put out on the dyno, track horse power not crank. Thanks
how cramped is it inside of that turret?
Awesome!
The U.S. paint is correct for the tanks former history, this tank hull has probably seen more combat than any tank in the world
Did This Isherman go to Tanks in Town back in 2017?
