The only functional difference is how they were made, because a flawless gem that formed naturally and a flawless gem that was lab made would be virtually identical in both chemical composition, hardness, and structure. Tell us you sell synthetic gemstones without telling us you sell synthetic stones. These stones are not created naturally by "Mother-earth", hot magma (lava) coming into contact with sedimentary rocks such as limestone or shale. Natural emeralds are quite rare because of the rather limited geologic environment in which they can occur. We are investing in the "rarity" of processes of natural wonders of our earth and not in a man-made "production" process of a laboratory.
i think it's about time to accept that lab made stones are just like natural ones, but perfected, they have the same composition so they are real for all intents and purposes, the only difference between a lab emerald and a natural emerald is their origin, nothing else. It should be stated where the stone comes from, i think we can all agree on that, but what you should't do is say a created stone with the same composition is a fake just to convince people to buy natural ones because you sell those more expensive, fake is a plastic stone or a colored crystal, not a perfect replica of the natural thing, i'm a jewelry student and when you see how things inside the industry work, you learn to buy your jewelry from third parties or independent artisans, never in a jewelry store/brand, never trust their prices and if you don't support the mining industry or want an specific stone but you're not willing to go with the stupid high prices, just buy a lab created one, only a professional with special equipment will be able to tell if it comes from a lab or from the earth
Nobody is arguing that synthetic gemstones aren't pretty, or that they aren't correct composition wise - I can build a kit lamborghini and put a powerful engine into it, I can buy a Rolex repro from the flea market and i can buy an off brand Coke soda and it'll probably taste pretty close to the real thing, But when it comes to AUTHENTICITY there's something to be said for having the peace of mind that what you have is not a knock off, however well it may be done.
@@GOLD_FEVER thing is, it's not a good knockoff, following your comparison, it would be more similar to somebody copying 1 to 1 a Rolex watch, everything, from the materials, to the clock machinery and the smallest details, yes, you may know it's not produced by the Rolex company itself but can you really say it's not a Rolex if it's a perfect replica of the thing? if nobody told you where It came from you would think it's a Rolex, just the fact that some información in your mind makes It an authentic Rolex or a fake is a completely unreliable method of determining the 'authenticity' of something, It all comes down to what you personally consider is the real thing, if you wouldn't accept that exact copy of the Rolex, despide being exactly the same you won't accept an exact copy of a gemstome, even if it's exactly the same and even if the only thing that changes is the manufacturer, not the thing itself, maybe a bit like the Theseus ship dilemma, there's many different points of view but, since It is sort of a philosopy topic there's really no 'correct' answer to It

I want to see a video on how to spot the difference between a gem and say green glass. You can make something just like that big light green stone, imperfections and all with glass.
Green glass is much weaker we found a jem stone digging on a job site and at first i look like a big pice of galss so we decided to seee if we nac brake it by throwing it from a height its stronger than glass but we currently needed some to look into the rock because its approximately 13 pounds
@@justinramdass9898 it's easier to look up the hardness rating for things and rub a corner of it against something slightly softer. This works because harder things will generally scratch softer things without being marked themselves. This is also why it's really difficult to cut diamonds, and why low grade diamonds tend to be used as diamond dust to cut and facet other gems, or even to cut really hard metals in an industrial setting.
The best way to tell if a gem is real or just a piece of glass is to look at it with a magnifying glass or a microscope, if it has small air bubbles then it’s defenetly made out of glass.
Gemstones in general are a waste of money. You take a ring or necklace and try and sell it most of the time you only get the value of the gold. The fact that you can buy lab created gemstones now for a fraction of the cost and your professional jeweler telling me you literally cannot tell the difference than me as a consumer has absolutely no reason to buy the wayyyy more expensive one
Only if it's a crappy piece of jewelry that was made in batches of 1,000 at a time with an average stone in it and you are selling it for scrap. If instead you had a nice piece of designer jewelry with some nice stones and were trying to sell it based on its value as the art piece/jewelry piece that it is(much like rare and unique Carteir pieces), then you can expect much more than the scrap value. People with high end designer jewelry don't sell it to pawn shops. They auction them off.
I think synthetic is being made here to imply "fake" when in reality it just means synthesized. I think the distinction should be made between fake, lab-grown genuine, and natural genuine. But alas profits and gatekeeping the market comes first am I right?! 😏 😉 👉🏻
Its fake in the sence it is not a geological crystal formed by the earth's lava, limestone and shale- forming in hydrothermal veins or in magmatic pegmatites. With beryllium, aluminum, silicon, and oxygen at the right temperature and pressure, this mineral can form, a process taking (arguably) up to 100,000 years. When you buy a natural emerald, you are buying the result of mother earth's work as opposed to some people in lab coats.
It's not FAKE. A synthetic Emerald is physically identical to an earth-mined emerald, like they are literally the same down to the atoms the only difference is how they are acquired. Calling a synthetic emerald fake is like calling the light from a torch "fake light", it doesn't make any sense.
Suppose if I have three different Green stone one pure emreld , second synthetic and third just Green glass or other green stone . So will they show the difference if I see its Absorption spectrum test ?
I find it strange that people value the natural flawed stone more than the better looking lab made stone, to the point that one is labeled as "genuine" and the other as "fake".
It's a marketing thing, mostly. A small group of big international corporations own the mining rights to a relatively limited number of gem mines around the world. They see "Synthetic" gems as a threat to their market, so they do things like pushing a certain rating company to label lab-made gems as synthetic. Which is just a disingenuous way of trying to preserve the value of their market. I mean, even before lab made diamonds. The value of diamonds should have went down. But it's a bit of an open secret now that a few corporations basically buy and vault metric fucktons of regular diamonds to keep diamond values from crashing. This is why clear or "white" diamonds are virtually impossible to sell for the price you get them at a store for, as the stores themselves have no interest in buying regular diamonds back. Their value is artificially inflated and they know it.

Well you left me with the same question, because first you said to look for imperfections and then you said the fake one has imperfections too so how to I spot a fake one ?
You take a program at a reputable gemology institute or if your gemstone is enough vale you send it to GIA for analysis. It is often not that evident "visually". Be aware of the inclusions that look like bubbles and imperfections that follow a specific pattern- these are likely not natural Make sure that the stone's inclusions are very deep under the surface
There are many types of synthetic emeralds...some look exactly like mined Colombian emeralds...but usually only the highest quality mined emeralds. (And good synthetic emeralds are expensive!) Sure, there are imitation emeralds, like cheap, obvious, green cubic-zirconium stones, beryl (not quite emerald), various kinds of simulated green stones, or Green Onyx-Claiming-to-be-Emerald, etc. But high quality synthetic emeralds are nothing like the aforementioned inferior substitutes. They are "genuine" gemstones, for sure. Just not "mined". For those of us who would not mortgage our homes in order to own a gemstone, lab-grown emeralds are a true joy. I own many pieces with synthetic emeralds and they are breathtaking. Even through a jeweler's loupe, one would have to be a highly trained expert to determine if they're high quality synthesized stones or $20,000 per carat mined emeralds, (of which I am certain I will never own.) I love and enjoy my synthetics for their own beauty. They even have that incredible inner-glow that makes emeralds seem magical. That being said, I would love to own a ring with an exquisite, mined Colombian emerald someday! They are one of the most beautiful creations of earth.
Thanks for the explanations. Imho it is most difficult to identify that the variety is actually emerald. Even genuine stones might just be beryl but not real emeralds. Your first stone for example seems very light for an emerald. How can one identify if the color is the right one for an emerald?
5:04" - If you are buying an Emerald of considerable size (ct) for $1000 or less when it should cost $5000 per carat then you know you are NOT buying a genuine Gemstone. Be it Colombian or Zambian an Emerald if natural it is still an Emerald whereas the synthetic ones are just imitation; you can only get what you pay for.
Man-made stones are not fake, they are real. Simulants are fake because they have different chemical compositions. I have a .40ct Zambian emerald, quite lovely. I paid $800 for it 20 years ago. Today I would purchase instead a good quality lab-grown stone and get 2.0ct for the same price (and just as beautiful).
But you will always know your emerald was created in a lab rather than by mother-earth over 10's of thousands of years. Like an automobile, it always depends what it's purpose is. Is it for everyday decorative value or is it to carry a much deeper symbolic value.
The difference between a green beryl and emerald is the colour. Emerald is a variety of beryl. The difference is the tone and saturation of the stone. If the stone is too light in colour, it’s green beryl. If the stone is dark or its a very deep colour, then its an emerald. Hope that help..
In brightest day In blackest night No evil shall escape my sight Let those who worship evils might Be aware my power Green lanterns light That's the real emerald is
That emerald that you say is 52ct is commercial quality junk. Because its big doesnt mean anything. Also the difference is nothing but marketing and in the mind of the consumer. Technically its the same thing, companies just want to try and corner market and create artificial scarcity and they push the "real" nonsense. Like De Beers did to diamonds.
This is video is misleading to date there are no ways to differentiate between Real Authentic Emeralds and Synthetic even using high end equipment. You can buy Authentic one then maybe somehow in the Future find out it To be Fake.
You look Beautiful , and yes Many people don't know that the moment humans intervene in natural process the resulting product causes allot of side effects. Either it be food, medicine or gemstones.
The best way to hunt them down is in a Colombian emerald trading market. Get on a plane. The villagers spend their whole life digging through dumped rubble at actual emerald mines and very few ever find one.
I have a emerald from the curlew mine that is almost flawless as far as emeralds go. It’s only .65 carats, but it’s absolutely amazing!! And yes, I know it came from that mine 100% positive.
i know this is an old video, but what about the 2 synthetic ones tell you that they are synthetic? The last one you said had a strange zebra pattern to it which feels like a strange thing to say proves it being synthetic (I'm not any sort of gem person, but I would like to know the science behind it all). The other one didn't seem to have any reasoning outside of another company saying its synthetic, but what did that company see that makes them suspect its synthetic (Im sure they are correct, but I'm wondering as to what they saw)?
The gist of it is hydrothermal emeralds tend to have certain inclusions due to the way that they are grown -- on a slice of beryl. The zebra lines could be indicative of their lab grown nature -- you'll see these parallel lines in many cut pieces of hydrothermal emerald. I suspect it is due to their growth orientation. Natural emeralds tend to have more disorganized and different types of inclusions. You can only tell if you examine the emeralds under a refractometer and loupe to see if you can identify inclusions specific to their growth history. To be honest, this is a very uninformative and biased video that tells you nothing.
if i have an 18k gold ring with a fake ruby would it be possible to send to you the ring to put a real emerald in there and what is the guesstimate for something like that
Hello, Of course! I can have a genuine emerald set in your ring setting. Please send me a picture of the ring and the size of the stone. I will then let you know how much it should cost. My email is jrcolombianemerald@gmail.com Best regards, Jorge
This same thing is happening with all collectibles from autographs to coins to diamonds. Everything can be made cheaper than the real thing and sometimes the fake is actually nicer than the real thing.
heyuha absolutely! We get it and yes sometimes the fake items do look just as good or better. Some people don’t mind it but others may want what nature has taken millions of years to create! For almost 500 years Colombia has produced emeralds for the noble jewels of kings, queens, emperors and empresses, not forgetting that for hundreds (if not thousands) of years before the arrival of the Spanish, the mines of the Muzo region were worked by the indigenous civilisations who revered the emerald in much the same way we do today. Of course, I am biased but as a consumer, I’d much rather own a piece of this rich history than buy a characterless synthetic stone. If you sell your stone to a pawn shop they will give you nothing. If you sell it on your own through a website or social media, you will definitely get most or more then your money back depending on your patience. Either way, we wholesale our stones and I have seen people sell synthetic emeralds for much more over my genuine emeralds. At the end of the day, it’s what makes you HAPPY ❤️
This stone is a very sweet color and very difficult to find, but I managed to find it, I am exhibiting it in my museum, soon the model friends on my channel will introduce it 😌😉
There is a line in this stone, it is a bit like mine, they said is it glass or mica, but she scratched the amethyst stone, nothing happened in the stone that I thought was emerald, it was understood that it was emerald 🙂☺🤗😌
I am not a gem stone collector, but I like the idea of synthetic stones, as long as they are accurately labeled. The problem is that gems are mined with what boils down to slave labor, or even worse they are used to fund organized crime or tyrannical governments, especially stones from Africa. I have a lab created alexandrite ring, and I will probably never see real Russian alexandrite in person, but it's so pretty, and I love wearing it.
What dp you mean by synthetic? It's not an emerald at all, like it's not a real man made emerald or do you mean its a just a green rock that someone made? Also does that mean its worthless?
If it weren't for GIA certificates or modern gem data imprints, I'm sure the trade and scarily in (Columbian emerald) trade, there would be major dissensions upon gem verification based ultimately on fought for opinions which culture has shown between color interpretations alone like with Thai/Burma ruby's pR (purple-red) that's top dollar often dismissed in importance to value reference to either sell off pinkish rubies intentionally or just from low-level to zero knowledge on proper considerations to what color is wanted, how a gem has been contrived, & what it means to us to present date. Trade is in fact worse than the conniving industry insider espionage from corporate firms/editors in fact. It's terrifying to me how even synthetics are being injected to fake inclusions but that shouldn't be too much of an obstacle if it ruptures the stone - unfortunately, it could take wear only til' after the purchase is made to discover that. i think it's about time to accept that lab made stones are just like natural ones, but perfected, they have the same composition so they are real for all intents and purposes, the only difference between a lab emerald and a natural emerald is their origin, nothing else.
@@GOLD_FEVER thing is, it's not a good knockoff, following your comparison, it would be more similar to somebody copying 1 to 1 a Rolex watch, everything, from the materials, to the clock machinery and the smallest details, yes, you may know it's not produced by the Rolex company itself but can you really say it's not a Rolex if it's a perfect replica of the thing? if nobody told you where It came from you would think it's a Rolex, just the fact that some información in your mind makes It an authentic Rolex or a fake is a completely unreliable method of determining the 'authenticity' of something, It all comes down to what you personally consider is the real thing, if you wouldn't accept that exact copy of the Rolex, despide being exactly the same you won't accept an exact copy of a gemstome, even if it's exactly the same and even if the only thing that changes is the manufacturer, not the thing itself, maybe a bit like the Theseus ship dilemma, there's many different points of view but, since It is sort of a philosopy topic there's really no 'correct' answer to It
@@leroidethunes3913 You're trying to change the definition of "authentic" good luck with that. You can believe WHATEVER you want about ANY object. But if it is not AUTHENTIC and made by the ACTUAL OG maker it is A FAKE. A COPY. A good copy is STILL A COPY. OBJECTIVELY. a copy IS A COPY. and trying to blur the lines like " oh it's every bit as good or it's identical in every way but manufacturer" is really beside the point. The point i am making is the fact will always remain, wether we know it or not that A COPY will always be a copy and the real thing will always be the REAL THING. Now how YOU Feel about it, is a totally different matter. As you mentioned, some are totally fine with a copy, in fact it is logical to not want to waste your money if there is something that literally does the same job if not better for less money, but that's not the point i am arguing. Another thing, that "information in your mind" is all we have to work with sometimes. Our brains are fickle and funny but they dictate our reality.
@@leroidethunes3913 Also i appreciate the Ship of Theseus reference. philosophy dilemmas make me happy.
@@GOLD_FEVER I see, yo don't have to get so worked up, i did imply It was my opinión and did say there's no right or wrong answers, i was not attacking you or denying your point, we have different views on the matter, i consider something that is visually, phisically and composition-wise the same to another thing as they share all their traits and thus, they're the same or they belong to the same group, if you are not of this opinion, that is completely fine, i believe Theseus rebuilt ship with the exact same type of wood and the exact same desingn is Theseus ship as far as we can tell, although you may think otherwise, we can have different opinions without getting angry with each other
I want to see a video on how to spot the difference between a gem and say green glass.
@@szikszaylevi4909 not all glass has air bubbles. its pretty easy to find a piece of glass without air bubbles.
IMO the synthetic look better. Deeper green and more clear.
So does green glass.
Good that the synthetic ones are cheaper, because they are also prettier.
Chics that utilize plastic surgery and synthetic enhancements are also prettier, but worthless in most other categories
@@superfluity-of-naughtiness777 If by "Chics" you mean women, then no, your definition is incorrect. By the way, it's spelled "chicks"...
I feel like the coloring on that first stone disqualifies it from being an emerald, it should be just beryl.
It's not FAKE. A synthetic Emerald is physically identical to an earth-mined emerald, like they are literally the same down to the atoms the only difference is how they are acquired.
Calling a synthetic emerald fake is like calling the light from a torch "fake light", it doesn't make any sense.
Do you sell chaos emeralds?

I was thinking of that lol but. Giorno wont let Kakyoin getthe better buisness cause Golden Experience is coming.
Welp, synthetic emerald are still actual emerald. They are still made up with the stuff that makes it an emerald. BUT, then there are those plastic gems that pretend to be special.
then how you id BT fularit and emerald they are both green
I know a lot of gem collectors, 2 are emerald nuts.
They don’t consider that 52 carat stone to be an emerald.
I'm pretty sure its not cheap to make synthetic gemstones. Some perhaps cost even more than the natural ones
Just no.
@@mpantony9684 Yes, Emerald and Alexandrite produced by flux synthesis are indeed very expensive.
@@mpantony9684 Just yes. A really good lab-grown emerald (or any other gemstone) is worth more than a lesser quality mined stone.
Hello i have a jade stones,, how to test this to proved that orig...tnx
How to buy this product?
Seems like synthetic is they way to go when they are indistinguishable and made of the same thing.
But you will always know your emerald was created in a lab rather than by mother-earth over 10's of thousands of years. Like an automobile, it always depends what it's purpose is. Is it for everyday decorative value or is it to carry a much deeper symbolic value.
Can you find emeralds in Colombia with a gold pan or a sifter? Or do they have to be hard rock mined out?
I have a emerald stone.where i can sale it?
I have emeralds gem stone how can sell it,.
what is the difference between an emerald and green beryl, and how can I tell?
The difference between a green beryl and emerald is the colour. Emerald is a variety of beryl. The difference is the tone and saturation of the stone. If the stone is too light in colour, it’s green beryl. If the stone is dark or its a very deep colour, then its an emerald.

Thanks for the info! But unfortunately I didn't hear how to distinguish trapiche Emerald fake and real?
That emerald that you say is 52ct is commercial quality junk. Because its big doesnt mean anything. Also the difference is nothing but marketing and in the mind of the consumer. Technically its the same thing, companies just want to try and corner market and create artificial scarcity and they push the "real" nonsense. Like De Beers did to diamonds.
So how does one test outside of having it professionally tested if a gemstone is made by man is real or not? ....

Actually bubbles is a way to tell if a gemstone is synthetic because natural gemstones shouldn't contain bubbles unless if it's a water pocket.
Price.??
Personally it feels like buying gems is the “easy way” like i didnt earn it. I almost want to hunt them down and cut them myself.
The best way to hunt them down is in a Colombian emerald trading market. Get on a plane. The villagers spend their whole life digging through dumped rubble at actual emerald mines and very few ever find one.
How can I purchase 3ct emerald stone?

i know this is an old video, but what about the 2 synthetic ones tell you that they are synthetic?

Inclusions isn't subjective, imperfection is.
