I like the way you turn a hunt into a teaching session. Bending nails over was a new one. My dad used square nails on his barn. Keep up the great work. Hire someone to do the yard work.
I have watched many videos about detecting, until today I have never left a comment, and the reason I am leaving one today is to express my sincere thank you to you for an excellent, entertaining and knowledge sharing experience.
Square nails lead the way! Good info about the bent nails indicating a door 🚪 All those old channel rocks tell the tale of the old rivers paths Keep up the good finds! You are getting a good head start on me this year! I got plenty of catching up to do!! :) 🤙⚒⛏🌴
California Mother Lode Prospectors we will be out there hitting big together brother! But Gary will still prob beat us hehe Too much gold dust in his blood!!
Gary , your the only fellow that can take a damp spot on the dirt path and turn it into a pond to pan in and find gold . I'm sure I'm not speaking for myself when i say that you are the "The King Of Gold Prospecting and one of the most knowledgeable guys out there . Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge, best regards from Lloyd way up here in Ontario Canada.
I'm glad you headed out for the hills in order to be able to share a great video with us... There is a lot of history around these old sites that is revealed by the metal detector. The gold is a nice bonus.
" If there's gold in them our hills " you're going to find it !!! Great job with the Metal Detector and I always enjoy watching your videos. keep them a coming.
You always look like your having a blast out there! We always enjoy Mondays with two toes. Nice little pieces of gold as well. We hope for big gold for everyone this year. Much love from Lake county.
@Bedrocker Don Yes they are! The red head is my wife and the other is our very close friend for many years. They work harder then most men out there and look way better doing it 😁
I herd that when you bent the nails over on a door jam it was called deadening. Hence the term "Dead as a door nail". You are a great educator. Thank you.
Great video. I do like how you survey the land and share your ideas as to why you choose to work there. Good stuff. Its really is helpful. Have a great day!
I like how you adapt to the environment and terrain, going from one site to another and taking the time to explain to us neophytes why and what you look for and how to approach it. I've read several theories why all those nails are in one hole...I personally don't think It can be a stash of new nails as it has those bent ones mingled with the straight. Here's my thought, They were all, but the cook, working late into the evening and when they came back, you guessed it the cook burned the shack down. SO, they all stood around staying warm by the fire and as the shack burned itself down they had to keep adding more wood in ONE little location to stay warm thru the night. It all makes perfect and logical sense to this imaginative 68yr ol' idiot...lol That right there is a good campfire story to tell the grand kids. Anyway, I always enjoy your very instructional and entertaining videos. Please stay healthy and safe so some of us can live vicariously thru your videos...just kidding, it's just still too cold and snowy here in Idaho to get into the mountains and there is hardly any desert left with public access to justify FREEZING to death yet. Roads are frozen early mornings but then turn into a ball bearing covered slimy, mucky solution on top of ice. Try driving even a 4x4 on that is just ludicrous and insane in these sub freezing temps so seeing gold in your pan has to suffice for now. Thanks from Idaho.
I'm hoping to get back up there this weekend and work on the mystery a bit more. A lot of my friends have escaped the insanity of California and went to Idaho. The gold, fishing in the ocean and the weather is the only thing keeping me here.
Gary you are the most knowledgeable guy I watch and you are always a pleasure. I always look forward to your videos. Just getting out there is worth it no matter how much gold you find but almost a gram, not a bad day at all.
thanks for taking us along for the lessons in detecting. looking forward to the return trip to the same area and seeing what you recover with the different detector. keep the videos coming...always enjoy them.
Gary, I know what you mean, getting out of the fog and shade and into the sun at this time of the year makes my bones feel so much better! Almost a gram from 3 little nuggets is great! So far your ahead between you, Dan Hurd, and the Justin's at 911 Prospecting for the biggest nugget found, so far, this year. Great prospecting, Gary!
Thanks Gary, I had today off and other than walking my dogs I wasn’t able to get out. Watching your adventures keep the cabin fever tolerable, and I always learn something from you! Finally, seeing you blow off yard work to do something you love is inspiring!
Thanks for all the videos this winter. They have been necessary therapy for some intense gold fever. I'm just about ready to trade the video prospecting in for the real thing. I'm getting on a plane tomorrow. I will be stopping for a couple of days in the Bay Area and then heading for the Mother Lode. See you soon.
Great video Gary. You are lucky to have that nice weather i am here in colorado with a foot of snow in the hills. No nugget hunting yet but i am getting me a lot of nice places to go check from google earth. Best of luck to you in 2020!!!
Will you return to the spot you found the 3 little nuggets and classify some material for panning? Seems like there should be a little pile of flour gold around that pocket of nuggets.
Instead of a door they could be from the original framing of a cabin as what I have seen on current construction. Lots of waste lumper has nails but bent over for safety reasons after removed from a house or cabin. See nails bend them over to not hurt another person working on frame. Thank you for the great video. Always learning.
Love those mountains! Every time I watch your videos I feel like I'm right in the pines with you ! Nice to see you enjoy some free time out there! Joe gold
I have the conglomerate an entire hillside and quartz all over hell like your old road there you wouldn't go back further because the quartz is lighter or just sweep everything around there I have broken off schist with quartz veins (mica schist grey and shiney) probably be out there this weekend
Where I come from, there is a greenish sandy soil with tiny black specks in it, called limonite. The black specks being iron ore, at the surface the material oxidizes into what is called glauconite: a rust-coloured sandstone with occasionally very hard veins of iron concretions in it. Maybe your two soils (green and rustcoloured) show the same fenomenon?
Nice digging and he have gold .....We find those Prince Albert cans here in Arizona they usually have claim paperwork from the late 1800's early 1900's.....
Hi Gary, I love your videos as usual. I have been lazin here on a Sunday afternoon watching your videos and I am wondering why you don't use the small hand wand anymore. Any particular reason? Aloha, Paul
I would imagine when finding the remains of a camp, the possibility of detecting a buried jar of nuggets keeps your interest levels high. Let's hear some stories on the next visit!
Good show glad you found some gold. Good lesson on the buried nails. most people wouldn't put two and two together and realize that it was a burn pile not a structure. Question, you wouldn't know anyone or have a really old detector that you don't use ever anymore and would like to get off from for cheap. I'll send the money before with shipping included in that. I'm poor I can't I don't want to get $100 one offline. unless you have one to suggest that'll work I used to use the old gold-bug 1, loved it, as my favorite detector I've tried to Garrett gold I like gold-bug better. Thanks for the show.
Blowing off yard work to go Metal Detecting, shame on You 😏. You make great videos, audio great, content great, personality great, and great finds. Have an awesome day Gary!!
For a moment I was rite down the creek from you ??? 😂 I have the day off and was watching ur vid in my back yard . The creek behind my house is also singing !!! For a moment ? Lol Thanks again sir great life like video !!!
Well, if that's pure gold, its spot price is just under $50 right now. So for being out of the fog, in the sunlight in the woods in the mountains, doing something you love to do, I think you did very well.
Gary what do you recommend for replacement of your Jimmy coilI've been checking out a few of them and I don't know how to tell whether they're matched or not
Did you actually make it to the tailings pile? Almost a gram is a belta day in my book👍 will be great to see you find a buried jar of silver coins near the square nails dump😉
Like good old fashioned detective work Gary , you sound like Sherlock Holmes , and Watson , wrapped up in one , lol . Another good indicator is change in vegetation . great learning lesson ,you always keep us thinking , thanks for sharing your knowledge , much appreciated .
Morning Gary, I actually watch this last night ! You are such a great instructor on gravels and metal detectors. We were out again on Presidents’ Day ! Thanks for showing us good gold porn 👍🇺🇸😊⚒🍀
nail pile came from burning wood, there would have been burnt black charcoal remains. archeologist have dug up thousands of years of hearth fires and still show charcoal remains. probably came from a broken nail barrel or some sort of other containment vessel
They must have put a box of nails just inside the door to keep them out of the weather you reckon? What it looks like to me. Otherwise there wouldn't be so many in the same spot.
pretty good ol man , youll have that two toes hardware store yet. hahaha. great video boss , i have got to try one of these places out, i have a detector now. so maybe ill see ya. hangtown mark.
If nails were gold, I'd say you found the motherlode! That area never ceases to amaze me.. Thanks for a awesome Monday morning Gary!
Gary nails it every time!! Lol

Spectacular finds of gold... all the nails are strange but there must of been a building of some sort there. Good work.....
I herd that when you bent the nails over on a door jam it was called deadening. Hence the term "Dead as a door nail". You are a great educator. Thank you.

The hills win out every time!!!
Using logic to determine what has been there before, nice work. Good detective work, now for the gold. Thanks for sharing your day of detecting.
Not bad at all for a short day Gary, plus you cleaned up a bunch of trash.

That mystery object may be a small meteorite. I wouldn't wack it with a hammer until you examine it more closely.
Nice digging and he have gold .....We find those Prince Albert cans here in Arizona they usually have claim paperwork from the late 1800's early 1900's.....
Excellent video, thanks. Looking forward to the next one.
Nice work mate
Cheers Bruce
I hear happy frogs in the background. Love it
When you talk about a hydraulic pit. Are you in the cut of the bank or where the tailing pile is?

Great vid Gary 8D
Another great video Gary 👍👍 good luck in your search for the golden nugget 👍👍

Great video, look forward to seeing more. I've watched every one, can't wait to see your next adventure.
Love the SERE shirt! I was up in Brunswick for my experience.
That looks like the size nuggets I usually get !!!! That is if I find any !!!!!!! ⛏😎🍀
Glad to see ya found ur umbrella. As for finding the gold 👍
Hi Gary, I love your videos as usual. I have been lazin here on a Sunday afternoon watching your videos and I am wondering why you don't use the small hand wand anymore. Any particular reason?
Aloha, Paul
Flour gold Wizards channel would call that a great day in Wisconsin
Could that white metal oar chunk have been platinum? It does occure in Northern California.

Hi Gary just wandering if the second spot were the water was slowly running out of the hill might be an old mine entrance
The staining of the soil in that area had me thinking the same thing. Going to give it a second look when I go back.
Watched it again and ......If this hobby was a “craft” like Plumber ,Carpenter or Electrician?
Two Toes is a 30 + year Journeyman !

Two Toes, I'm curious, how come you don't use a pinpointer?
Did you actually make it to the tailings pile? Almost a gram is a belta day in my book👍 will be great to see you find a buried jar of silver coins near the square nails dump😉
About 15 years ago I found 1500 oz. of silver that had been buried. Would love to do it again!

Thanks for the detecting tips! Great vid as per usual
Great as always!
My best guess about that copper object is that it is a pommel for a revolver or maybe some other gun...
If there’s gold there you will definitely find it👍🏻 great video! Much more fun than yard work! HH🎧⛏
nice job. keep it going.
Nice little arvos Work
