👍👍👍 nice when i was a teen in the 80’s i was working on a model and i discovered this technique by pure accident. Thank you for sharing with the rest of the modeling community.
Very nice vinyl top build. I had a real 68 Plymouth Satellite sport in red with the black vinyl top back in 1980. The top was good but the interior was rough and the rear quarters had just started rusting. The car got rolled in an accident and was off to the crusher. I did a 1/24th scale plastic model of it back in the late 1990s but I admit your technique looks much better! Thanks for the video. All the best from Manitoba, Canada!
Nice technique on spraying the paint from far away. It gives additional texture to the masking tape. It looks very nice. Thanks for sharing the tips and video.
The vinyl top looks really good. I’ve never used the masking tape method for a vinyl top. I’ve always used Krylon textured paint. I think I’m going to try the masking tape method after seeing this video. Thanks for sharing.
Nice how to on the top, I have never added a vinyl top yet, one day I will get one down, did an awesome job on it.. Plymouth is looking good! Have a good on Joe!
Awesome stuff New Subscriber #400😊 and we hit the bell, loving what we seen, cool tips for us all, looking forward to seeing more😊👊 Cheers 🍺🍻KC 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝😎👍
Joe, the masking tape works really well. I have used it myself. I’ve never done a distressed top, so I will have to give your technique a try. Thanks for sharing! Steven
Thank you for showing us how to do that! Wow it really cool how you did it and looks so realistic to! I use to always make "junkers" because I sucked so bad trying to make them look nice hehe, but I use to crush a lot of my old junkers to haha. Your junkers are too cool to ever see the crusher! I've watched a lot of your videos before, just first 'subbing you' so I can get notified when you post! You make some really neat old beat-up cars! Mary
@@joesrustshop4509 for sure, I love seeing different peoples work, and seeing the difference in quality to. Although I love stepping on them and crushing car models, I still have "appreciation" for a damn good job!
Thanks for sharing. Have You had any issues with the masking tape staying on. Do You recommend an adhesive spray on roof 1st, for long-term display (my Monte Carlo model)
So far tape has stayed on well,...just using Dollar General tape. Different brands may have different grains. So, keep an eye on that. But knock on wood, so far nothing over or under sticky
Where I live in Florida, you can get a 10 oz can of flat black spray paint from Lowes for abt. $2.50 a can...called Project Source #282254...works pretty well for me. Enjoy your channel 👍
Man this is an awesome process. I'm definitely going to use it. But I felt super uneasy watching you use flat black paint while standing in front of a fairly late model white pickup! Maybe it looks closer than it is.
Happy New Year, Joe!

Thanks, either method works. Tape gives the advantage of making it torn.
@@joesrustshop4509 Yeah, that was what I was thinking.
