I had the joy of seeing Angel at Bruce Jutnick's dojo back in the early 90s. Wow! I can tell you all that the old man could you his stuff. A true master!
I was part of the demonstration that day as well. I think it was early 1990. Somewhere here on youtube are videos of me demonstrating the lock and block exercise and flow sparring with Angel. It was the first time I saw Angel in10 years back when I was just a beginner in 1976.
I cannot believe its been 2 yrs since I saw this. Again, people need to view this series of 1 and 3 step sparring as the end of the fight. The student would draw back a bloody stump were it a real event and in VERY short order the conflict would end wth a long red dirt nap. I took surviving edged weapons with Dan Inosanto, we used colored chalk,I had blue,he red, well I was very red at the end of one session, needless to say. Not a blue mark on him,and he handed me my blue chalk.
This was Union Square in downtown San Francisco (on Geary). I had just come back from the Philippines and was part of the demo team that day, performing with Khalid Khan.
ya know most ppl see a stick in the old man's hands and do not realize it actually represents a knife ,or short sword. This guy would cut you to ribbons and quick leaving you a bloody lifeless pulp on the ground.
The dude was in his 90s. Why not check him out a little more thoroughly before you start dismissing him? Besides, it was a demonstration to people with no experience. How much do you think would slip right past them if he wasn't stopping to emphasize what's what?
Dancingspiderman - a demo is just for showing the movements - on this video A.Cabales is hold - but if you want of the reel you would have had to meet him when he was young and not during a demo :)_ and i think you are not a practiser !!! so please dont make just BLAH BLAH
Yep, check out my mac... I'm a virgin, touched for the very first time...Strike a pose, VOGUE!...Papa don't preach" I just don't like the type of marital arts people who don't actually demonstrate at full speed. They lose my interest when they strike a pose ( VOGUE ) between each "important move". Meh.

I wish I´ve had the opportunity to met him these days. One of the Oldmasters. Thanks for the Video.

Good news is that there are a lot of videos of Manong Angel, but the bad news... it's kept away in private libraries.

The battle cry of the nobody. Enjoy obscurity. Byee.
Your repeated quoting of Madonna is absolutely killing me, yeah. You a fan? Because you're awfully... enthusiastic.
