I realize it’s his car to do what he wants but in my opinion (that he asks for) it looks worse the further along it progresses. I really don’t know how someone that has done the projects he has can stand back and think it looks good. I think it looks silly with the bike in it.
Agree, I do appreciate Chads work, however in this situation build a trunk. The Bike was a bad idea. It just doesn't fit the art work on the coupe. The car is fantastic!
" I can almost hear, "No harm, no foul! " While Chad proved his point and did it his way, it's too bad it looks more like putting Earrings on a Pig! Looking forward to seeing this plan "B" getting scrapped. Let's all smile and do a victory dance, and then return to building an awesome roadster again.
Sadly, this project(?) brings to mind two of my Grandfather's favorite sayings: (1) "When you find yourself in a hole - STOP DIGGING" and (2) "Sometimes it is easier to PLOW AROUND THE STUMP"!!!! I am still hoping for the best!!
Jolene ...Why not have them cut out the center section of the package tray and make an inverted half circle in the middle so you have all the clearance you need . If you read this tell them ...😊..Then modify the inverted 1/2 circle a feature to secure the Carson top with 2 latches on either side of the circle...and don't forget to put 2 loading handles at the back of the ramp to assist in lifting and use them also as a strap down point on both sides ...C'mon now...
@@Roontheo Yeah, all that extra weight transfer hanging off the back end....well, you can see the sag already on the back suspension. And that ass-end so heavy couold cause for some nasty handling if it this thing ever sees the road, especially if emergency maneuvers are called for. As a previous commenter stated, he sure wouldn't want that bike coming for his head.
Yes, many of these old classics can really leand themslves to customizing or restorod concepts -- or just restore, and the 38 has some very particular lines and attributes that are worth preserving, but to attain any level of success, some very careful planning is required with attainable goals in mind. I find myself getting irritated at the mad dash to cut and slash without a little more forethought, especially when it comes to dealing with a diamond in the rough.
Chad & Nate’s silence after the motorcycle was in the car spoke volumes. It does not look good! I’m hoping Chad abandons the motorcycle hauler idea and moves to plan “C”.
Chad has some strange vibes coming off him, and I wouldn't be surprised at his throwing in the towel completely, going back to a pure roadster design and buttoning up the whole shebang...But in the meantime, it's pure entertainment. Thanks for filming and sharing, Jolene.
Love your show, cars profile with the roof looks awesome, once the bike was loaded, not looking too hot plus looks a bit dangerous and not easy to load. I would chalk it up as a great concept but go with the trunk instead.
It was Chad's idea to make it a bike hauler. Nathan wasn't enthused but is helping Chad with CHAD'S IDEAS for the car as a good friend would do even if they didn't like the idea.
Different people have different sets of skills and smart people stick to their own strengths! Smart people also play off other people’s abilities and listen to others ideas. Chad please don’t listen to these people’s negative comments. I’m a auto collision training tech and I always listen to the people I’m training, sometimes people have ideas that are very good!!!!
So because he has a bad build in your opinion, and you give up on the Chanel? What’s wrong with him trying something different? That’s what his whole car building identity is. Sometimes he misses the mark. All people that create things miss the mark sometimes. He knew this wasn’t a popular build but he still showed it and took the risk with the audience. He asks Nate’s opinion probably because he wants him to include his opinions
I don't think Chad likes it now that he sees the bike in the back. I thought it was a totally cool idea too until I saw it and now I don't like it either 😅
Chad, I've got 30+ years of hauling bikes. You should get more compression on the front forks by someone holding the front brake and pushing down while someone else ratchets the straps as tight as you can. Also you're definitely going to have to strap the back of the bike as well. It WILL move if you don't. I guarantee it. Trust me if you don't, you'll definitely learn the hard way and damage the bike as well as the car.
I'm very sorry you are NOT HAPPY with the out come. It wasn't a complete loss for your views. I was liking the way you guys were trying different ways to get it to work. It was interesting to watch how you brilliantly were able to change things around. Chalk that up to another experience that won't happen again. 👍
I understand Chad wants to make a name for himself by building cars unique and not like what everyone else does, but there is a reason why no one ever built a motorcycle hauler out of a vintage car …..Look at it 😢
Scrap the hauler idea it looks ridiculous and bloody dangerous, chalk this one down as a bad idea but at least you gave it a go and go back to the coupe idea with the jag roof 👍🏻
If it was a wreck and needed some major work to come close to its original glory, then chop it to pieces. It never had to be left original but there was so much that could have been done and your first direction was not bad and many would have appreciated it but your imagination got the best of you and I am having a hard time enjoying the mess you are making . Sometimes concepts should never see fruition . It’s your car and your viewers don’t have to agree but to ask them to sit back and watch because this makes you happy when it does the opposite of those watching…you are making it very difficult for us not to be critical.
I used this concept to load a large service machine into a Ranger.(winch) It worked Fantastic. If your going to continue, rethink the package tray and use a split in the center. the idea was to fit the bike inside . Remove the wheel stop and use a smaller one. you can trailer a bike a thousand miles with 2 straps, or ad a third over the seat. the top looks good and fits the design well. You could cover the bike with a canvas cover(like a Boat) to keep rain out. Just think things through before acting. i'm an inventor and fabricator and go through many design changes to find the best product. Good luck!
No BIG LOSS! I enjoyed watching all your work trying to get everything put together. Now it's time to remove all that added stuff and go back to making it a Roadster or maybe a 38 ford pick-up truck. Don't think ford made a 38 made a Pick-up truck. That would be original.
If you want it to fit under package tray, eliminate what you did and use just a single channel down the center of Car. That way you can use a small ramp and drive it on. Weld 4 tie downs one at each corner and then you could fill in sides to keep elements out. Just a brain fart. But as they say You Do You. Love the concept though. Keep the vids coming. Great work Jolene for putting up with these two. Keep em on the straight and narrow. Can't wait for the next episode.
Just grind 4 inches out of the center of the bike , then weld it back together ! If you know what I’m saying ! 4” painters tape once around the block and wolah , done deal !
I think perhaps i would have used the small scooter with the cool rounded fenders that i believe , matches the style of the car perfectly. Then you could have a functioning trunk since the scooter may go completely in and hidden.. Steve in Texas.

😂😂😂That just looks like some shortsighted motor cyclist has had a nasty mishap on a foggy evening near a scrapyard😂😂,, lighten up everyone,,, it's just an innocent old car that fell in with the "wrong crowd",,,, 😅
Don’t forget that the tray needs to be bolted down as well, when you step on the gas the bike tray is going to slide right out the back. Bike tray could have been about two feet narrower. Bubble in the storage tray idea is a good one.
Chad and jolene heat the centre of the pipe for the parcel shelf and jack more of a curve into the parcel shelf so the bike can go further onto the car. Just my belly button as you say. Keep up the great work all of you 👍 👏
If the front tire of the bike dropped into a recess, you would have more control when tying down the bike I.e. cut out the board and put a couple 1/8” steel straps across the bottom of the ramp in place of the board. If you watch the dirt bike riders, after they load the bike they push the rear end over so it is locked in the corner of the rear gate and bedside. You do not have that opportunity. You will need rear straps to keep the rear of the bike from sliding. No matter how tight you feel the straps are holding the bike, it will move. The straps will loosen. I spent 10+ years hauling my bikes around and found out that a few extra tie-downs are much cheaper than making repairs when a bike goes over. Went on a recent trip with my quad runners. They moved and my camping gear shifted on my trailer. I have tie-downs coming with the cam-locks instead of ratchets. They are easier to adjust and/or tighten when two hands are not enough. Nice project.
I would stuff it in further putting the wheel between the front bucket seats you will have to use. Even if package tray has to be split. Alternative would be to have bike on one side and passenger behind the driver. Personally I would chuck the bike and make it a convertable with ragtop.
Chad you should create clear bubble top cover for the motorcycle so theres no rain when u traVel with it just a important idea cause if it poor rain ur scrooge all the water in the vehicle
In my lil shop i have, i put 4 spinning extension cord rollup wheels. One at en end of the shop so that way there isnt a mess of cords on the ground & in the eay. Its just like the vacuum cord when u pull the cord out, it locks & then to roll it back up, press down on the button, the cord winds up. Made it myself and works great 👍!!
You could do the same divit in the back of it for the back tire. And then you could fill that hole with a more inset panel. Having the Backtire and its own custom custom dip would allow you to Put the bottom panel in and it Would look good. If that made sense Do what you do, Chad.
I agree. Good idear that would lower that rear end of the bike down just a little. I think that bike sticks up way to far and too far out of the ass end. It looks ridiculous like this.

You should load the Vespa scooter into it and see how it looks. It might match the look of the car better.

I would angle the last foot of the ramp on a 45 degree or so. It would lower the bike a bit and help with the ramp sticking out.
