They just don’t make men like your Pops any longer! What a great role model for his son😊
Yeah they do its called a man with common sense.
@@2CorgiMom 👍 agreed
That’s really kind! Thx!!
I agree, they broke the mold when they made pops!
You two are so blessed to enjoy such a wonderfully close father/son relationship. I dont think they are so common and so it's very wonderful to see! God bless you and keep you safe in your travels!
We do realize how blessed we are and don’t take it for granted. So sad some of the difficulties people will share in comments that just break your heart. But we always appreciate the reminder so thx!
We really do love traveling together and have such a great time with it
Love the road trips with Pops!
I do too, so much fun!
I think that even if the pandemic didn't happen, your videos would still become popular. They're so dang good in how they awaken something nostalgic in many of us that we miss now with the onset of how technology has been able to isolate people indoors more. No offense to the videos with your wife and kids but these ones with your Dad really go straight to the heart and are the most fun!
You are really kind! Thx for watching for the encouragement!
Thanks for the kind words! The videos with my dad really do connect with people and I love being able to see that connection, it is so cool
I love the road trips with Pops, but I've also really enjoyed some of your adventures with your wife, too!🍒 Thanks for sharing so many wonderful places with us who wish to travel more, too!🎶 My favorite thing about your vlogs is how positively you narrate, Josh~💯
I love the twins are developing memories of the trips they have been on. . . so far! Cherry Blossoms and glaciers, spot on! Too, cute. I love this Q&A embedded in your trips!
I thought it was so cute to hear their favorites haha
Loved this q and a. Your twins’ answers at the beginning were priceless and spot on- cherry blossoms and glaciers are my favourites too! Looking forward to seeing the South Dakota road trip.
Thanks for the comment. I thought it was so cute to hear their favorites haha
Thank y’all for my @throughmylens Sunday fix. I’m retired Air Force, traveled a lot. But you and Pops travels are the best.
Really appreciate you watching. I bet you did travel a lot in the AF. My uncle was a Marine pilot and he had many amazing stories.
Really appreciate you watching the videos!
I love both of you! Love watching dad & son dynamic ♥️
You are sweet! Thank you.
Thanks for watching the videos!
Love watching you travel with your dad.. makes me miss and think of my dad when he was alive…
Cool behind the scenes video. Love the quality work on this channel
Really appreciate it. Thanks for the comment!
This kind of video is so refreshing just to get know you guys more. Thanks Josh and Pops.
Thanks for asking our question. Fun video…as always!
I love the relationship between you and your pops. You are so blessed. The banter is so entertaining and refreshing. Will watch your videos over network reality TV anytime
Thx! We do have a good time.
Thank you so much! Very kind of you to say and to watch!
I loved that give gave us a more "inside look" at your travels. My husband and I have watched every single one of your videos. We are planning a New Mexico trip for Labor Day and Utah trip for November! You and Pops have a very special Father/Son relationship, you're blessed!
So cool to hear you love the videos. Thanks for watching them and I hope you have a fantastic trip to Utah and New Mexico!
This was a fun video! I appreciated hearing about your takes and memories from among the different trips you have made.
It would be great to hear some more about your planning processes. Your trips are always interesting and it goes without saying they wouldn't be so without all your pre-planning.
Great suggestion, maybe I can dive deeper into that in a future video!
Your Route 66 video is how I found your channel. My family mostly travels via road trips. Your channel is my first stop when planning! I loved your answer to the souvenir question because we visited Roswell back in April and because of your video I to had to get my own wooden alien! Thank y'all so much for these videos and safe travels!!
You guys are awesome!!!
Hey there, I’m really grateful for your videos. You and your dad or wife have a way of making me feel I’m with you and that is. lol. Keep on trucking my friends and taking videos. 😁
I love your relationship with your Dad ❤❤❤ You are so lucky.
0:53 Pops has the right idea😊 Seriously, nothing beats that view. I remember going there for the first time when i was 8 years old it almost felt like i was looking at one giant painting
I have been there many times and am still overwhelmed every visit. I always go back to the first time and think “this can’t be real!!”
Route 66 was the 1st of your videos I saw.
Blue Ridge Parkway was among my favorites.
Seeing all those grizzly bears was scariest.
You go to a lot of places and I like to see where
you guys show up. Well done mates...well done 👍
Thanks so much for stopping by and watching!
You two are great men, so kind.
Very kind of you to say!
Great job again as always. Yall are the best. You make these videos seem so personal and relatable to all families
Thank you so much!😊
Just found you! Hubby and I will be binge watching this weekend. ❤
Love you traveling with your dad. So lovely!
Thx for watching. We really do have a good time together!
Thank you so much!
❤Family.❤
Love the food arguments. 😄
That’s a good idea. Josh could glean all the food arguments from the videos and compile them!! Need to give you credit if he ever does that. We’ve had fun over those arguments!!
Haha we love joking with each other
I agree with “pops”, Jersey Mike is great! #13 Mike’s way.
I will have to try that one!
Same, but I also add either jalapeños or cherry pepper relish!
I enjoy watching and traveling with you and Pops!! You have a wonderful family, I enjoy your channel very much and you guys are awesome!! Where are we off too next? I’m ready.
We have road trips on South Dakota, the north shore of Minnesota and Michigan. And then a bunch of New York content as well
This was great. Always good to see you both doing things together. I'm gonna have to side with Pops on the sandwich thing though Josh. We are hoping our next trip to Hawaii ends in seeing lava, which did not happen the first go round. Long strange story haha
Well as time would have it, I was watching this on a lunch break...eating Subway. LOL
Great video once again. Lots of good questions and answers. I like how you get the whole family involved at the beginning.
God bless!
haha! I hope it was a good sandwich!
So excited for Pops & Josh going to another Experience for them And US!! Recently returned from that area wish I had more time in the area looking forward to seeing it Through Your Lens!! Safe Travels All The Best! Be Well Be Safe & Stay Blessed.
Thanks so much for watching the videos!
Thanks for making these videos. They are awesome!
Glad you like them!
Cool Q and A on the road trip.
Thanks for watching!
Glad to learn that Pops is a prog rock lover.
My college buddy got me into those and other bands. But I still love the Beatles and anything out of Motown!
Hi Josh and Pops, at the risk of sounding sappy, I have to thank you both for posting these videos. The father-son ones (esp when you get out of California) are so comforting to me from the playful energy you both have, the stops you take (things like the Dr. Pepper museum, donut shops, etc.) and even the background music. I struggle with depression (so sometimes getting out is really hard outside of work), and I had a pretty traumatic Route 66 road trip experience with an abusive partner who made me feel bad for wanting to take fun sightseeing stops to take pics and explore. Your videos bring back memories of better roadtrips, and give me hope that maybe I too can one day have comforting, easy-going, playful roadtrips with a partner like y'all who are proof that not all dudes have toxic masculinity, and that some just like to have some good, old-fashioned, fun. :)
Wow that sounds really rough. Glad our trips can lighten things for you a bit. So encouraging to us for you to say that! My prayer is also that you can find a partner to share your love of travel with you!!
@@popshiking I can't tell you how much I appreciate your comment! Thank you so much for your encouragement & prayer! I will hold onto this. 🙏🏼 (BTW, I didn't know you had your own channel until now! It looks great, & I'm excited to have just subscribed. I'm a millennial but sense that all of your "Grey Hair Hiking Tips" will be more than applicable, fun, and inspiring for me too.)
So sorry to hear of your previous road trip, that is really sad to hear. I hope the videos do encourage you to get out on the road again and to make some better memories for sure
@@ThroughMyLens TYSM for your comment! You & your Dad are pretty iconic to me (more so than celebs since I watch your videos more than TV these days), & its so nice that you both took the time to share some supportive words. Y'all are kind both on & off the screen. I really appreciate it. :)
Love your videos which got me interested in doing Road Trips. Luv your trips with your dad.🥰
That’s awesome! We’ve adopted the phrase (whenever it came from) that the route is the destination!! A fun way to look at travel.
Glad you like them! I hope you do some road trips as well!
Heading to Yosemite this Thursday with the family, we are so excited to be there even though there's a heat wave going on now. It's 103 today there, we are camping at the valley. Have you been to Glacier? It's an amazing place so many things to experience and wonderful hikes too.
oh - and the route 66 "blew up" not because of Covid etc. - it blew up because it was excellent !
Very kind of you to say!
Love seeing Pops on the road trips!
Thx! We appreciate you watching.
I plan my road trips the same way you do and for my upcoming road trip in New England in October, I used a lot of info from your videos when you and Pops were there. Big thanks in advance! BTW...Custer State Park is amazing!
So glad it was helpful. We loved our time in New England!
I love Yosemite !!!
Never been to Lake Tahoe? I'm revoking your California card right now Pops....deporting you back to New Jersey (hey what exit?)!! You gotta hit Lake Tahoe!!
Ok to serious stuff...I enjoy all your channels because you show me places I've been, but a new angle/look on them. You show me places I haven't been...and the video style and voice over stuff just makes it fun to watch and learn. Not gonna lie...I've been to a LOT of the places you've been to...haha. Great minds!! haha.
Keep on doing what you all do!! Thought it was funny that Pops hates heights and his wife's favorite place is the PCH....rocks and cliffs...wonder if she's been to Big Sur? HA!
Haha deport pops back to New Jersey!
I didn't plan on commenting, but when your pops said he's never been to Tahoe, I had to comment and cast my opinion to get him there!
Point made! I need to get there!!
I agree, he needs to get to Lake Tahoe
Josh, I enjoy every single one of your videos !
Very kind of you to say, thanks for watching!
This was an excellent video. Thank you for answering questions that I did not know that I should have. I have retired and my husband will be in the next few years. We want to visit so many places. You have given us so many places to visit. Thank you both. We enjoy watching. As with many others, our initial video was your Route 66.
Having been born and raised in NJ listen to your Pops when he says sandwiches outside of Jersey ( as well as pizza) are mediocre at best.
Thanks for the support! Sometimes you don’t know what you got till you move away and can’t get it anymore. Feel the same way about Jersey tomatoes, white corn and peaches!!
@@popshikingborn and raised just outside Trenton so tomato pies, pork roll and 24 hr diners are sorely missed. If you mention the Jersey devil people here in AZ just look at you like your from another planet
Haha fair enough!
The Best!! Love ❤️ this channel to the Moon 🌙 and Back !! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Really appreciate it!
Love what y'all do. My wife and I watch all the videos from New Orleans. We are moving to Cali in two years and your videos help keep us sane until then. Thanks!.....do not come down here in the summer. The heat and humidity is not fun.
Haha fair enough, would love to go back to New Orleans but def not in the summer haha
Just came back from a trip to Big Bend National Park totally inspired by Josh and Pops. The awesome insights that you provided in your travel guide made my trip so much easier to plan, especially with travelling such long distances. I am already planning my next trip to Alaska. I'm sure I will be rewatching all your Alaska videos many times before I head off. Appreciate all the travel tips and insights.
Oh wow! Two of our favorite spots, big bend and Alaska, I hope you love the trip to Alaska and let me know if you have questions!
Larry from long island Pops I can't believe you said yes and Kansas as favorite listening music.Just one question old yes or poppy yes from the 80s and later. Never your standard 4/4 time I hope anyway I love you guys keep up the extraordinary work
Probably I rank my yes album favorites…
1. Close to the edge
2. Relayer
3. Fragile
4. Tales.
I know not everyone is a fan of tales. Got Josh and his friends listening to them when they were in high school.
Just saw Jon Anderson recently in St Louis. He was good as was the backup band.
Precious moments hanging with your dad is so very cool
I agree. We have a blast together
I love watching you and PoPs. Great dynamic dual
Really appreciate that!
I've been watching you for the last 6 months or so. I always thought your Pop looked familiar. Since he says "hoagies" and cheesesteaks I assume he's from South Jersy. I was born and raised in Philly but have been living in the South Jersey burbs since the late 70s. I'm about your Pop's age and maybe a little older. In the early 00's I started taking an annual camping road trip out west with my adult son and later with my son-in-law. Great times and great memories. Keep up the good work!
I grew up in Cinnaminson but left when I got married in ‘79. Haven’t been back much since as the family has pretty much all moved away.
Great video I love watching you both ❤❤
I’m from California, I was surprised at how pretty the metroparks were in the suburbs of Cleveland (Lakewood, rocky river, etc).
This was an absolutely delightful video!!! I loved how you asked all of the family members questions. Pops is just a great Dad, Grandpa, and traveler!! Go Illini!!! 🧡💙
Thx for watching! Yep got a new hat!!
We had a lot of fun with it, it was cute to hear the kids answers haha
Haha love your snack lady comment! Yeah the crunched up Fritos with like chili in it was called hay stacks I think.
Really liked this video! Always inspires me to do another roadtrip. "Roadtrippers" is great for creating routes for roadtrips.
Love it!! I’m always watching your videos to plan my trips 😊
Nice to hear you are exploring South Dakota! Always looks like an amazing trip over there, can't wait to see the video. If you are still in the Black Hills and it fits into your route, check out the Bicycle Sculpture in Pringle, SD--just the sort of wacky roadside attraction you guys love to see!
We missed that, next time! We loved the Black Hills SO much
Lots of fun, as always with you two! It was nice to get some behind-the-scenes info on your trips and your individual choices. Josh really puts in a lot of effort on the videos, Pops adds his own flavor, and the combination is perfection! Loved the twins' answers, and I'm with Pops on the Fritos...Original only!😁
Great comment, thanks for the kind words. Glad to hear there is another Fritos lover, I thought Pops was the only one
Hello from Singapore. Always feel good to watch your video especially the bond between you and your dad.
I hope one day I can do a road trip in USA 🇺🇸
Thx for watching! I got to visit your country once and loved it!
I’d love to see Hawaii!❤️😀🇺🇸
just found your channel, and man i love it! i love the outdoors so much and i enjoy watching all these amazing videos! keep it up!!
Thanks for this great and really informative vid. Excellent! Oh and I'm still in love with Pops, my dream man. 💓
Hahaha that’s funny! Thank you for watching!!
Great video. Yes, the Q & A videos are awesome. I like to see how different people travel because I've gotten a lot of great ideas from it.
Great to hear you can get some ideas from our travels!
I have been to 48 countries. The most beautiful place I have ever been to is: "Garden of the Sleeping Giant." A huge orchid growing area on Nada, Viti Levu in Fiji. OUTSTANDING!
Sounds amazing, I would love to see that!
@@ThroughMyLens Do a Google search. They have a nice website too
The same to mine Yosemite and Yellowstone Park
Love this video dynamic of you and Pops. It was fun to see you guys on the road answering questions. Well, you already know that I’m Pops number one fan 😂 so any videos with Pops are fun to watch. Also, it was a nice twist to hear the whole family mention their favorite spots. Thanks for sharing, Josh. 🙌🏽
You are my BFF fan! I was especially impressed with the twins answers. Even as a barely 3 year old Jack would mention how beautiful the mountains were as we drive through Alaska! Thx so much for your support!
You are the best, always appreciate your support! 😀
Thanks Josh for including this video
You kind of touched on it a bit and your Dad did.
a lot of hard work and thought goes into your videos but there is enough spontaneity to allow you to shift around to what you think would interest you and Pops which in turn draws your audience in.
Keep up the good work and expanding your viewer base by going outside Cali
Thank you for sharing your vlogs with us ,some of us are home bound . The pandemic turned me into a very cautious person I started to freak out Thank you with lots of ❤ & 🙏s 💯
Thank you so much for watching them and for the comment!
Started watching your videos recently and my favorites are the ones with pops. Anytime he’s in one I’m stoked. I lost my dad 2 weeks ago and let me tell you this Q & A with your pops brought out all the feels. Also, I live on the Big Island about 30 minutes from Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. I think you’d find so many more things to do on the Big Island that would shine in your videos so please consider making a trip out one day soon!
Wow I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you have many beautiful memories to reflect on. I’m always remembering that there is a finite number of times we will be able to travel together and I want to make each time memorable. Thx for reminding me of that once again! May God comfort you and your family in your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss. That is so hard. I would love to explore the Big Island. I am sure it is incredibly beautiful!
We love your videos and your pop is awesome keep up the good work
Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you so much. Please stay safe to you and your father. I lost my father and only two brothers to ALS. Peace.
Wow that is so hard. So sorry for those losses.
So sorry for your loss
Props to Pops. That's a lot of hiking. I plan all my trips too and try to get as much as I can in because I never know if I will be back.
That’s how I feel. I always hope to be back but you never know!
Wow! Didn’t realize that the pandemic made your channel blew up. Makes sense though. But I’ve been following you from well before that from a recommendation from a friend. Pops has not been to Lake Tahoe?! He totally needs to go with your mom or even the whole family. It’s very nice. My best friend lives at the foot of the kingbury grade going up to Tahoe. So much to see and do up there. I love the hot springs and pool in markleeville that’s not far from Tahoe, and frog lake for things outside of Tahoe that are my highlights. Road trips are so fun. I like being able to take my time and just stop wherever I feel like. I like to plan shorter day drives of four to six hours of driving and check out where I want to stop for gas and potty and food but keep those flexible. Smart to book motels that allow cancellation you can keep it fun and not just cranking out the miles. I google and Mapquest and yelp places along the way. And I ask people I know. I’ve found some great places that way. Found some great places to eat that way, like this obscure middle eastern hike in the wall place in grants pass. Or this great burger and shakes place in Klamath falls. Totally going back to them next time I’m going through. A friend in Ashland Oregon recommended this great sandwich shop off the beaten path so I would have never gone there if she hadn’t told me about it. And cat friendly since I travel with my cat. All outdoor dining so put her in her backpack and she was good to go
100% agree. Already trying to think of a good time to go. Thx for the encouragement!
@@popshiking my fav time to go is in the summer. But spring and fall are great also. He hike to frog lake is along the PCT and is a very scenic hike that goes to a few lakes. Not a hard hike and beautiful. The drive up there is lovely. It’s a place that PCT hikers jump off the trail to go into Tahoe. The lake is so beautiful and driver and hiker friendly. Lots of good food and historically interesting places. It’s a great end to a road trip up the 395 which is a terrific road trip.
Thanks so much for your constant support over the years. I always appreciate your great comments on the videso
We love Spain too. Just returned from a wonderful visit there.
So cool! Yea it was one of the best trips ever for my wife and I
Love this new video setup too! Looking forward to more 🙌🏽
Yay! Thank you!
Dots honey mustard pretzels are the first thing I look for when we come over from the UK! Went through a lot of bags when we just did Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Back over for the Washington State parks in August so will be looking for them again!
They are soooooo good haha glad you like them too
I very much enjoyed this video. Motivated me to get busy planning a road trip or two!
So awesome to hear, I hope you have a great trip!
Please do a HWY 12 Outer Banks road trip. There is no place like it. So many cool places, history, abd good food. Wright Brothers Memorial, largest sand dune in the east at Jockeys Ridge, awesome light houses, wild life and tours. It's right up your alley
That is high on my list to do, what time of year is best?
+1 for Kansas and Merrills, Yosemite and Yellowstone. They're my favorites as well.
If you haven't yet been to the Black Hills/Devils Tower/Badlands NP area, you owe it yourself to go. The Black Hills has Mt. Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Monument (a work in progress), Wind Cave NP, Jewel Cave NM, Custer State Park, the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs, Deadwood, Lead, etc. Rapid City has life-size statues of the US Presidents scattered about in a vibrant downtown and a wood stave church (Chapel in the Hills) that is an exact replica of the Borgund, Norway, stavekirke, which dates from the 12th century. But, wait, there's more....🙂
//EDIT: Then you finished up talking about South Dakota. Have a great time.//
We went to a lot of these places but I loved the black hills so much I already want to go back and explore more
Can't wait for the South Dakota video. My wife and I just got to Kona HI today and are going to Hawaii Volcanoes tomorrow for the day. I heard the volcano isn't bubbling now but it's the best at night according to some locals
Oh wow, I hope it is awesome!
Thanks for the Q and A video Josh. My husband and I watch most of your videos, we live in Australia and love arm chair travel!
You and your Pops have a lovely dynamic that is a joy to watch.
I was wondering if your videos and photography is your full time job?
So cool, I would love to go to Australia! It has been on my bucket list for so long! Yep, this is my full time job, it has been for about 6 years
Great video ! And Pops please go to Tahoe (shoulder seasons) and see Tallac / Valhalla Historic site walk (millionaire mansion walk) and Ehrman mansion / Sugar Pine Point . All of these have gorgeous old homes (some with tours) with the iconic views of the lake and lots of historic interest. Then Taylor Creek Visitor center with wooden boardwalk and stream profile chamber, beaver trees gnawing, and early morning / sunset possible bear sightings. All of the above are flat, easy, and well maintained walks with history and yes , FRITOS RULE!
Great comment with lots of suggestions! I will pass them along
My husband and I have been thinking of buying a small camper...but I argue...we could do road trips, save $$ on gas, stay in hotels...like you and Pops !!! I would love to see a tally of how much some of your trips actually cost to make my case !!! Thank you ! Love watching your videos - thank you for taking us along !! PS - you have such a wonderful family !!
Thanks! I shared the full cost on the Route 66 tips video and the Alaska Highway video too I think. It is more than an RV but it is also faster and more adaptable so we prefer it at the moment. RV could be fun in the future rhough
I thought I was the only one who planned trips using spreadsheets and a custom Google Map! This was a fun video to watch so we could get an insight into how these videos get planned. And to see your interaction with Pops!
Glad you liked it and yea, I am a google maps lover haha
I’ve traveled for nearly 50 years taking the wife, kids (when we could) and other extended family. I never realized it was so unusual until my now 49 year old nephew introduced me to his new wife as his favorite relative. He told her that I was the only person to ever take him to the Grand Canyon (when he was 16). Now at my advanced age it is so pleasing to know that impact on children in the family. We all got great experiences seeing and doing these travels together.
That’s so cool to have that kind of impact. I’m a firm believe in travel changing you for the better
Ivagree with pops. It was heart stopping the first time i experienced it. No video or photo can compare to experiencing it firsthand
Hey thanks for this video! Your channel was an inspiration for what I’m doing, but I’m still trying to find my own style. It’s good to hear that overshooting footage is normal haha
So cool, I will have to check out your stuff as well!
Dr. Pops and his camera man!
Hahaha! I’d embrace them at if it were true. More like Josh does everything and pops tries not to be too obnoxious!! But your comment is fun.
@@popshikingI have to disagree Pops. You are the star. Josh just holds that camera. But he does a great job holding it.
Let me know if you guys are coming to EDC again next year. Me and the boys are exited to meet you there!
Haha 😂
Crack me up beautiful family!! Love ❤️ Pops to max!! 😢😊😊
Thanks for watching!
Glacier NP has the best views in the US.
I love your videos. Being able to have adventures with your dad is pretty cool.
Haha we have a good time. Thx for stopping by!
We have such a great time traveling!
I agree with your dad. When you grow up on the east coast the sandwiches out west DO NOT compare. East coast grinders are the best 🎉
Haha makes sense, he needs to make a east coast sandwich video
Love your channel currently visiting Paris!
Hi Josh! This Q&A was great and I have a question about a trip you may or may not have done! Have you been to the Avenue of the Giants? Thanks for this video! I enjoyed seeing your whole family on this one!❤️😀🇺🇸
I have, here is a video I made 4 years ago on it ua-cam.com/video/30t_EsuGG60/v-deo.htmlsi=_qH7t2h6qjrcSt8J
Awesome Video. The last part is really going to help next time I plan vacations. I was shocked you only drive 9 hours at most while my driving days can be up to 16 hours.
Ya I feel like 9-10 hours is the most we can do consistently for a few days at a time
The Eagles are my favorite band 💗 my mom saw the Hell Freezes Over tour while she was pregnant with me lmao
No way, that is awesome!
Did you guys ever decided to actually do a RV travel tour & do the cooking yourself?
