I remember the lyrics to this song when I'm feeling particularly hopeless or lost. It kind of gives me strength that nothing matters you know? Just keep on, keepin on
This kind of means a bit to me as I was stuck in hospitals, and a Rehab Centre for just under a year up until September 7, one of the main staff at the Rehab Centre was called Lucy
@donoghue72 I have to agree. British Sea Power are pushing the boundaries in the same way that the beatles did in the 60's. A totally original band with lots of depth.
How can ANYBODY compare this band to the likes of either Coldplay / Clayplod or Arcade Fire just beats me..... they have absolutely NAFF ALL in common with BSP. BSP are frankly beyond compare!!!
good luck on the release, proper love this song, would be nice to hear somming like this in the charts hmmm sodom or meggido, tougth choice, you go sodom, i'll stay here??
they just too creative, man some people would love this video too much and others hate it :P the only flaw in the video is the puppet's mouth dont move -regards
It's vague like a lot of lyrics unfortuantely (in my view). However, it seems that they seek "sodom" which is pure pleasure seeking place to megiddo (the battle of good and evil). So they seem to want to forget the worlds issues and seek pleasure. I could be wrong on that. But no Lucifer means free reign of action and pleasure. No need to worry about consequences.
This song always gets comparisons to U2 but it sounds much more like the shoegaze band the Lilys than it does U2 or Arcade Fire. A great epic classic no matter what.
British Sea Power join Razorlight, The Cribs, Darwin Deez and Noisettes at Get Loaded in the Park - Sunday 12th June, Clapham Common. Limited early bird tickets selling fast!
I wish whoever posted this would disable comments so that the sublime experience of watching/listening to this song wouldn´t be soured by reading comments from such social detritus as "cheeryvibez" and "rhaastaa" (don´t their chosen log-in names just tell you everything you need to know?). I´d love to know who they think writes "good" lyrics. Actually, no, scratch that, I really WOULDN´T like to know.
Overall sentiment is existentialist, with a return to nature worship. Will humanity return to nature, or pursue industrialization ("silk/cherry wood" and "cyanide {Hitler died of it}/Kevlar" [natural vs. manmade]). Lucifer = bringer of light, and can be equated with enlightenment or knowledge. "Several lucifers come..." might mean leaders with opposing ideas of "real knowledge." Rather than engage in the fray, distance yourself from the conflict...take a bicycle ride and enjoy the moment.
i dunno dude, i thought lucifer was all about free reighn of action and pleasure, at least thats how the satanists paint him? so no lucifer, would mean not that? whereas yes lucifer would? however it makes a nice contradiciton to seek sodom while saying no to lucifer, is lucifer the piper or baal?
Blew my socks off when I first heard this song. They just don't make em like this any more.
😂
Wow this band is extremely underrated
😂
I remember the lyrics to this song when I'm feeling particularly hopeless or lost. It kind of gives me strength that nothing matters you know? Just keep on, keepin on

This kind of means a bit to me as I was stuck in hospitals, and a Rehab Centre for just under a year up until September 7, one of the main staff at the Rehab Centre was called Lucy

Wow, I just got that a lucifer is a match :p
Yeah, I would have never guessed these lyrics. lol
Which is...?
Once again I will say, much better than Coldplay or Oasis.
I dare to say that this group is as good as the beatles.
they just too creative, man some people would love this video too much and others hate it :P the only flaw in the video is the puppet's mouth dont move
-regards
Might I reccomend Frankie Goes to Hollywood or the Pet Shop Boys? How about some Bronski Beat?
The slow string part at the beginning sounds vaguely familiar. Any ideas anyone?
easy! easy!
NO FEELINGS
Hey Luna, kevlar or cherry wood ? B

Is it me or are BSP obsessed with the soccer am wrestlers when writing this song!
seems like no one can not like what others do like...
we're all going on a , summer holiday
i think the link is more about big daddy, but you never know.
This song always gets comparisons to U2 but it sounds much more like the shoegaze band the Lilys than it does U2 or Arcade Fire. A great epic classic no matter what.
@kandinskij She plays the violin for them ^^, looks kinda hotter here than irl but u would :D

@donoghue72 pedazo de grupo, loren;
I'm here for the Carlton Corsair.
how beautiful is the girl dancing in this video who knows who she is
@daveeeeeeeeeed1
agreed
"Kevlar or cherry wood, malevolence or good"

Wood looks very much like Eric Cantona,

Baal (or Baʿal) was, at one point, simply another word for "lord" or "master." Think of it as a title rather than a specific entity.
I wanna sleep tonight, but whatever...
@donoghue72 but it will always stay a matter of opinion
but maybe i'll agree with it
maybe not
Very odd.. but very cool.
Has anybody ever read the liner notes from this album?
It is seriously a load of the most entertaining nonsense ever written!
My nan came in while I was watching this video.
She made me jump.

I thought he was singing "not to me-hi-co"
@kandinskij O_O
Wolf parade?
Think you might have Lucifer confused with Prometheus...
How beautiful the girl dancing at 1,09...who knows who she is...^_^
I think Hamilton looks a bit like Buster Keaton.

yeah you can really take someone seriously with a pseudonym like "rhaastaa"
Is it going too far to say this is their best ever song? Certainly Hamilton's best one anyway
creeeepy
@Ledonist not as popular as the Beetles
@donoghue72 LMAO
