Cool video! In the start of the year I purchased some 18oz Iron Hearts. After an initial soak and roughly 6 months of wear (California is not welcoming to this weight of jeans) I would say that these have become surprisingly comfortable. Looking forward to more of your updates. Cheers!
Thanks for popping by and commenting. I can imagine California and heavy weight jeans don’t mix. Here in the UK has been particularly mild and the jeans have been slightly “hot” in 17c temps. Glad you’re enjoying the iron hearts, looking forward to the journey on those, when I commence it.
thanks for sharing the update, jeans look great! if the thigh is too tight now they might not work at all after you wash them. if you are interested in a slightly more roomy thigh (more gradual taper) the xx04 fit from TSG is the one to go for (with TSG the first two numbers are the denim and the second two are the fit) but they are a medium/low rise that might not work for some people..
Thanks Ignus. Upon consideration, i think it’s the cut/rise. They’re just very short from crotch to top of jean. Someone commented that TSG can be a little limited in that regard. As for shrink, I’ve been advised to take usual size because although the jeans will shrink they’ll relax again after wear, just take your usual size.
I don't understand why you don't hot soak them before wearing to get all the shrinkage out. I always do 2 or 3 hot soak/hang dry cycles for any unsanforized jeans before I even put them on. I mean, horses for courses obviously, up to you. But I don't so much like the flatness of loomstate raw denim personally, much nicer once it has shrunk down because the weave tightens giving much better texture, imo. Plus, you can easily lose 3" in the leg after washing. So if you've put 2 years into getting nice fades, once you wash them the creases will all be in the wrong places! The fading behind the knees is called honeycomb, whiskers are in the front either side of the crotch ;)

this denim will become a mess after the first soak if the thigh is already tight
