  • I have had a ton of questions about my no-build Xterra camper build, so I wanted to take a minute to answer some and get into the specifics of this setup. Let me show you what I have done and what you want to know about my rig.
    Enjoy!
This is my first attempt at shooting a whole video on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and it was crazy LOL.

I am so excited! I have an Xterra and did a road trip with my daughters. We had a tiger moth trailer that slept 2. We rented a space for the third person because we never considered taking out a bottom seat so the seat could fold down flat!! What a genius you are! This way we girls can now travel, me sleeping in my Xterra with clothes and food and the two girls can sleep in the Prius my daughter owns. Now I am excited and will keep my Xterra. I bought it to pull the TigerMoth but no one wants to go camping with me so I sold it. I own a mini cooper convertible and love that for the city. YEAH! Thank you!

Hi Nicki. Thanks for watching. My parents and teachers would definitely disagree with the genius comment. 😉 This is a comfortable way to use your X, for sure. I hope this gives you an excuse to go camping. I hope to see you back on the channel in the future.
      Be well, my friend.

Hey man, I came across your channel and I'm enjoying your additions. I purchased an 2006 Xterra last year and have just started adding items. Definitely going with the Action Packer. I also like your idea about the weed sprayer and make shift garbage bag. Side note- I could be wrong but those mountains in the background look like a Salt Lake scene? I'm a Utah'er if yes, and will most likely being going with the local Shades Brewing Imperial Lager to kick start this build. Cheers!

Hello, tt. Thanks for watching. I am stoked for you. I love my X and have had a great time messing with it. You are correct; I am in Utah. If you send me a DM, we can connect. I would love to see your build. I hope to hear from you. Be well, my friend.

I like what you did. I'm duplicating the sleep compartment for my Xterra. I'm also looking at window covers for inside in case i want to use it in less than boondocking scenarios. I use a tactical seat cover on my driver's side so I have molle attachments on back and can include things that I might want handy when I'm in back.
Have you ever tried to carry a kayak on top with that basket? That is what would deter me from getting the basket.

Hello Mark. Thanks for watching. If you already have reflective panels cut to shape, you can just add a backcloth to the outside, and you are blacked out. I have fabric that I can lay inside the window that is bigger than my panels to block any light spillage. As for the kayak, I personally have not added one, but yes, you could definitely use it. I bet Yakima has mounts that attach to the basket just for boats. It is an excellent piece of kit. Let me know if you have any further questions. Be well, my friend.

I am looking to convert my Xterra. I have watched alot of videos, one thing, lightweight people use are those plastic sterilite drawers.

Hi Coconut Crazy. Great suggestion. I have found them to be too flimsy to hold up to my abuse. I think I am going to play with some stack and lock toolboxes. Thanks for watching. Be well, my friend.

Nice Vlog of you rig. I recently picked up a 2015 Pro4X. 6' of flat deck for sleeping had me checking out 4-runners or Xterras. The X is pretty close to the 4-runner in quality and capability but there was a huge difference in price between 2015 examples with similar mileage. I'm happy with my choice. I want a no build Overlander for 2 to 10 day camping trips so I'm looking for ideas and suggestions on equipping it. Will check your other videos now.

Hello Tim. Thanks for watching. Welcome to the X community. It is actually quite strong and really cool, people. I recommend checking out the Drive into the Maze video. You will get a proper look at a bone-stock old Xterra doing things it probably shouldn't have. If you have any brilliant ideas for your setup, please share them with us. I hope to see you back on the channel in the future.
      Be well, my friend.

Building shelves is nice but you are adding weights. Do you need a lift with bigger tires(mpg)? Does stock set up limits you? I like your set up. I will insulate my X. It’s will be set up for kayak fishing. Thanks

Hello Tim L. Thank you for watching. I would be adding weight for sure. I spend so much time back there, and I am tired of digging into bins. I think a removable shelf that is just a frame with outer covers would be nice so I can see everything. I don't know. Maybe I need a new project, lol. I do think a 2-inch lift would make a massive difference in some of the locations I have plans for. I don't need to go huge, just a little taller and some good rock sliders. The Rock Sliders are more critical than a lift. Let me know if you have specific questions as you go. I hope the fishing season kicks ass for you. Be well, my friend.

I'm buying one saturday to live in fulltime. I'm 5'6" and trying to figure out if I build a small platform for storage to sleep on what the highest platform I can make and still sit up. It looks like none lol... What's the meassurment from floor to ceiling? Am I laying down only for storage?

    • @campshackproductions3725
      @campshackproductions3725  Рік тому

Nice welcome to the X community. If you build a platform, you will have difficulty sitting up. I have looked at this a bunch, and I have found that putting storage on one side and sleeping on the opposite side works best. Check out this channel and search for the Xterra video with the camper top. Let me know if you have any further questions, and be sure to share photos or videos of your setup. Be well, my friend.
