Not sure why is people are so displeased with this cover, this is in Lou Reeds typical wheelhouse of vocal range. Seems like a lot of the people in this comment section must’ve been suggested it, but their first fans of the song and Lennon and don’t really know about Lou Reed. I enjoyed the cover for what it is, and happy a legend would cover another legends song, especially because I’ve heard Lou say that this is his favorite Lennon song, and said something along the lines of this song having having good substance
I like it, because I think Lou Reed is a more artistically deep singer songwriter than most. Always seen this as an important and deep song. A type of blues.
Lou Reed sees a lot in the words that John wrote...there is pain here that Lou is bringing out in its raw form... A song can sound raw and sometimes it can convey something of the raw hurt...growing up can be tough for some folks...
Maybe it was cathartic for him. It certainly was for John. Everybody needs a good mother, lest you grow up lacking compassion. No father, no wisdom, strength and leadership. You can learn from friends and those around you, but the lessons come later, and more difficult to correct a twisted character.
wow, this is bloody awful. "At one time, you've got it, and then you lose it, and it's gone forever. All walks of life: George Best, for example. Had it, lost it. Or David Bowie, or Lou Reed..."
Think he was tounge in cheek when it came to lenon. Heard it was popular for artist to bash each other, as an inside joke to each other, and probably to mess with annoying reporters, at times, trying to stir up drama, and probably some publicity for the both of them. Lou said this was his favorite John Lennon song in some clip I saw somewhere.
with his vast body of work, there is no reason for lou to do covers. this is a long boring version of the song, and he doesn't even sing the "mommy don't go, daddy come home" part.
Lou Reed is expressing his own emotions here.... brilliant

Amazing ! Thank you Lou, thank you John.

Lou Reed tem o dom de fazer tudo que já é melancólico ficas mais ainda! Genial
Dios mío!! Que belleza de interpretación de una canción sublime
wow, just...wow
Brilliant.
It is a beautiful song .desgarradora ! Heartbreaking !
Amazing
What a warrior
I think he knew what he did with the song and he did it his way. It was so rough but it caught me till the end
não vejo lou reed fazendo muitos covers! ele tem que gostar realmente muito de uma canção pra fazer isso

Here he covers another John Lennon song. Must have loved JL to cover two songs if not more.
admirable
His performance here reminds me of Daniel Johnston. So raw. So pure.
Best version of mother
Spettrale 👏👏👏
Tienes que ser super fan de lou para decir que esta version es buena
es brillante. pero soy super fan así que tenes razon
Shattering. Anyone who, after hearing this, says Lou couldn't sing must have a very different understanding of what matters.
It's absolutely awful are you sure your not tone deaf??
Sick.
Nothing can ever compare to lennon's version especially his voice
Lou attended the Bob Dylan Vocal Academy
Yeah. Their vocal range doesn’t match Taylor Swifts now, does it?
Apocalypse Now!
I get it
Lou Reed orientándonos polo inferno da tristura. Lawrence interpreta a Shakespeare
Dont you have the whole song?
Great, what is is this the Long Island talent show. Lou couldn't polish Lennons boots.
It's absolutely awful isn't it 😂
I love Lou Reed and I love this song. I don’t love Lou Reed covering this song.
Maybe could have made it a bit smoother, and the clangs a bit less noisy.
I'm drunk i could not walk so i try to crawl.
Ironically "Mother" kicked off "Plastic Ono Band" album, and ends with "My Mummy's Dead."
TAN GRANDE ❤....QE BELLEZA DE INTERPRETACIÓN...👏🇦🇷DESDE ARGENTINA 🇦🇷✌️
“I’ll be your psychiatrist”
That's hard work

Time to go smoke a Joe...such a depressing song. WHAF.
Somewhere John Lennon cries.....
In hell if there was a hell. But he will be crying of joy.
@@memeco50No this guy will go to hell for butchering Lennon's song .Awful..SMH

It’s fine, Lou reed style song
Raw. Honest. Pure.
Too much for you?

Awful!
I just got to tell you, site the fuck down. lol
Musica dificil , porem nao gostei
This is a horrible cover!
Lennon had the chance to be the father to his kids and failed miserably.
He didn't fail with his 2 kids he failed with Julian not the other one kid but this guy has butchered this song and he'll go to hell where he belongs
@@KNIGHTSTEMPLAR13he’s been in hell for several years now…I’m sure we’ll meet up with him when our time runs out here
This is horrible. He and Lennon are so much talented than this.
What a mess. Another song butchered by the most indulged and over-rated "star" in rock and roll history...
Not sure how one quantifies as “over-rated”….but I guess that’s all you know how to do is….over rate…
Awful and that's the understatement of the year..
Sucks! 👎
really terrible
