Hey guys, so in today's roblox studio video i literally scripted roblox voice chat.. Now you may be wondering how i did this and how exactly the voice chat in roblox works. Technically not. Discord Is a 3rd party to Roblox making It a whole complete different thing. Roblox can't do much about anything that happens In Discord.

If you think about this, you could make a zone around each player that follows them and whenever someone walks into zone of another player they get moved into the correct voice channel, would be tricky if the player was in multiple zones, but probably could just merge the voice channels into one using the bot and etc.
What about the radio spammers
Also people in a discord will be able to know where some others are like for example some players hide from somebody well he can check which zone they are in discord and find them

It would probably be better to give each player a zone that follows them and a vc each and when each player’s zone collides it moves them into the same vc, which could also use line of sight features so people can’t hear each other through walls
edit: probably could use a priority system based on who joins first just or something so its easier for the program to decide who's vc the other should be moved into
edit 2: if you really wanted to get advanced, you could use a secondary zone which extends through walls and could determine the volume that everyone could hear the person, but an issue with this would be multiple people inside and out so probably want to try something else with that one
edit 3: could also use a better grouping system so when multiple people are talking it makes that area one big zone based on the priority system with a scaling zone based on the distance between people which could help the issue with people being at the edges of zones because you cant be in multiple vcs at once
or you could just make an entirely external program that uses the same concepts but doesnt have the limitations of discord

Yeah and if there is two players near each other the bot create a voice channel for these players and if they're not near to each other anymore the bot deletes the voice channel
Edit1:and every server in roblox has his own category in the Discord server
That would be sick! I figured he could rig a discord verification bot to auto grab someone's ID to transfer people on a larger scale

Dev, this is amazing, I have an idea though, Move everyone into the same VC, track how close someone is, Then use like a bot or like something that goes into your account, So it takes how much studs someone is away from you (example 100) and then if they are 50 studs away their volume gets set to 100 (since you can have 200% in the discord app. but not in the browser, so maybe just make it 50% volume instead.)

I hate coding but this guy makes it feel like eating nice and simple.
Ive been working on a system for not just what you did but with dynamic zones, so each player has a range around them and only players in each others ranges can talk, as an added bonus the farther away you are the lower the volume is

Idea: every time you say “I hate this game” everything becomes dark and you can see only around a few feet around you then a two red eyes will appear in front of you and it will approach you closer until you can see his whole body then he (the creator of the game) grabs you, crushes you then you get kicked out of the game

The only real way would be to construct an entire HTTP website with a request system
One scuffed way you could do that is having the bot be a player having them either send a message when someone moves or fire a custom remote event

This is honestly such a cool concept not only for role play but just for fun, Roblox should really consider making this a feature available.

Yoo! Just a question, could u recreate a game called sky? In the game there are benches with candles and if u light that candle, the player beside you can talk too you. They also have flying mechanics so it can be pretty challenging!

fun fact: you can make a game using this for all players by adding a folder in server/replicatedstorage and then naming it "users" and make it so at the start you type in the discord account id and there's a button that says "i dont have discord" and it kicks you to say "get discord if you're 13+". then pressing the enter button next to the discord id textbox will add your username to the folder with ur id as a stringvalue. and it also tells you to join the discord server thingy. now when u go to each area, u can change chats!

It would be cool to have a function where depending on the distance between eachother the volume on discord gets lower as if they were far away so you can barely hear.
Idea: When you walk, your legs break. Idea 2: When you say "Im cold" you'll die by a heat stroke.

just an idea to the other fellows you can create clones of the hidden zones and teleport them to the players by either CFrame or Vector3, then if one and another player’s zone collides the bot creates a voice channel and adds the players into the channel.

could you show the mainscript to see how it connects to discord? I think alot of people would want to see how that works. edit: you could also make a model!

Make it so the whole map is 1 zone and the zone tracks when a player is near the other player. If the player is near it turns up the volume of that person in discord and the same goes for moving away your discord volume turns down

If you can use discord to add some sort of voice chat, can’t you make it to where you have voice chat squares onto your character and as soon as you get in proximity of someone you join a channel with them? Probably will be a lot on the bot itself but that would be cool

Is there a way to add maybe a cylinder part on the player, that way there's a radius around the player that way there'd be a radius around them. That'd act as their ears, and range of voice. Then if other players parts collide, then they can talk/hear eachother. That way it's more of a proximity chat.
U can weld a cylinder to the character’s humanoid root part

Just do (radiusrootpart.Position - plsyerrootpart.Position).magnitude to figure out how close a player is

@@thegreenstar1382 That is easy, You just make a click detector then once its clicked you prompt a developer product then once u purchase it u make a gui and loop through players and make a button with the players name on it then loop through the buttons and once one gets clicked it closes the gui and uses :MoveTo() to go to the player and check if the magnitude is 1 or something then damage the player if it is :P

I think you should add a code where the person is like not one of the zones or in one, they should be moved to a different channel that no one can hear nor speak
Another proximity chat idea: If the person is like near another one they both join on to an voice chat, when they are like 4meters apart the user volume will decrase, if they are like very far away they will be go to another channel till 1 joins in
