New vid that’s a deep dive into the 2001 cult classic
Started reading Dostoyevsky in my mid 20s, really didn’t have much impact on me. Read Brothers Karamazov at age 37, brought tears to my eyes. Truly a life changing author.
I too read Brothers Karamazov at 37 and it changed by life. I started in my early 20s with Demons.
Excellent presentation, deeply moving. Dostoyevski is probably the greatest writer who's ever lived.
This is extraordinary. I’ve been reading Dostoevsky Solzhenitsyn and Tolstoy since childhood, my mother was obsessed with Russian history and a staunch anti communist. I’ve struggled for years to truly understand Dostoevsky and all the circumstances leading to the Russian Revolution, World War1 and World War2 and the tragic consequences of all these events. Thank you for this clear and concise history and narrative
I’ve only dove into this world since the events of 2020, it’s been quite the eye opener. J Peterson turned me onto all you mentioned. These men were absolutely brilliant in nailing down human behavior.
He's the only author who has ever gettin inside my head and make me seriously think about myself what sort of person am i good or bad. Until i read doestyevski i did not know you can be either depending on the circumstances pure genius
Thanks for this! Finally one who is not stressed while narrating.
Dostoyevsky is my favorite writer!
Excellent work. Fascinating and tragic story, but Dostoyevsky is immortal, through his work.
"dostoevsky will never die" its a saying in russia
I planned to read one book, now im reading every book and have become obsessed. His works are truly timeless thanks for this excellent documentary 🙏
Wow great video, Dostoyevsky is a life changer in his books. Greetings from Brazil 🙏
Thank you for the extraordinary history and the glorious complexity that life exploded from the pen of Doestevisky
I'm surprised this doesn't have more views! Very informative, wonderful job!

This is the best review of this author and icon I have seen. Much credit goes to the maker of this video.
What an amazing and wonderful video. All praise for this creation.
Than you for good, deep explanation of Dostoyevsky's life. I like the music, too. Wonderful job. Thank you.
Excellent information. Currently making a documentary about Dostoevsky, and this is very useful. Thank you!
Wonderfully done.
Such a hard life he had to live to have such amazing novels to be shared
I find your approach to Dostoievsky is the right one, the man and his sorroundings the family circumstances as well as the system of government on that due time. Great job.
Excellent work! I've read three of Dostoevsky's books within the last year; Crime and Punishment, The Gambler and Notes From the Underground. Your work was very informative and I learned more about him; thank you!
Read The Brothers Karamazov. It’s life changing. Everything by Dostoevsky is life changing.
@@tyronemidzi2457 Thank you! I've heard a lot about this book, I will check it out.

I like this guy, hope he does one of these for my life soon....
This is such an unexpected and fabulous find. Subbed! Thank you so much. It is such a personal look at FD, and the inclusive mentions of contemporary intellects (Jung, Nietzsche, etc) helped to clarify timelines and social evolution for me.n
Thank you - very thoughtful and helpful. Charles
Great story. Thanks for telling it.
Fantastic work. I enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you for sharing

Brilliant documentary !
As a Catholic and some work in Poland, i was constantly aware of Dostoevsky work and faith, but for his gambling was is escape or retrieve with so much progressive changes. I very grateful for your work thanks alot. Jesus is the way, reading about Nietzshe should also be a must and compare value of individuals and community, especially in our AI world today! God Bless you
Superb, encouraging and soulful
Wonderful piece of work 👏
Deep Insights. Wonderful.
Very well done.

DOSTOJEVSKI BROUGHT ME TO BIBLE
Agreed. I would say the same for Tolstoy.
@@gerryboudreaultboudreault2608 yeah, they both. Amazing writers
@@gerryboudreaultboudreault2608Tolstoy was an antichrist.
Great job brother. Thanks for the dedicated research and thoughtful presentation (with roughly contemporaneous Russian music!). One correction: you used "debtors" at one point and should have used "creditors."
Thanks for the feedback. Correction noted!
Fantastic .
Best video on internet.
Well done.
Fascinating! That would explain why he so often wrote about the state of mind of a condemned man just moments before execution.. bc it happened to him!
Your ending was a touch of Dos as well.
bravo !!!!!exelente !!!!
This is great. I wanted to learn more about the man, and your video really helped. I have just clicked on both "subscribe" and "like" and will let others know about your work.
Thank you! We do some different types of videos on this channel including more current film reviews. But we'll have new videos like this one also coming out this year!
Great!
Great video, thank you very much , note to self(nts) watched all of it 32:23
Thank you so much for this perfect video. Can you plz write name of the interviewer? I want to watch more of his videos of talking - analysis- about the other authors, as well.
The host with his youthful beard, dark coat, soulful serious expression and big wandering brown eyes, looks like a better-looking Dostoyevsky character, seeing as how they were usually pretty scraggy, and all
Thank you for taking time and slowly explaining this documentary. Where can I find more of your work?
Thank you for your kind words! We have a lot of videos on this channel that I produce but we’re going to make more soon that are more in style with this video. Is there anything in particular you’d like to see?
@@ReelMovieReviews666 I would love to see you handle more of the Russians. Solzhenitsyn in particular, would be much appreciated.
@@ReelMovieReviews666 Also, CS Lewis, George MacDonald, Charlotte Mason
All great choices! I’ll keep them in consideration
i cant belive that this gold has only 1k views yet. youtube is sucks saddaoningargn

Niche y fiodor two prophets no comparison there is Absolutely nothing anything like these Geniuses. 🤩🇲🇽
The first writer/artist/philosopher/ psychologist/sociologist/ to eliminate our human "concepts" embedded in dualisms. Said the Grand Inquisitor?
Great lecture. The lecturer's first name is Andre. What is Andre's last name and where did he study?
Could you please list your sources? I would like to do some more research on Dostoevsky and your sources would help :)
And also the source for the story with Carl Jung and his patient.
Thank you in advance!
Hello! Thanks for watching! I have some sources listed at the end of the video. A video I used as a springboard for the beginning my script was the "The Man Who Knew Communism Best" by Bishop Fulton Sheen.
I also recommend The Dostoevsky Encyclopedia by K.A. Lantz and Dostoevsky Reminisces by Anna Dostoevsky.
The Carl Jung story comes from "Memories Dreams and Reflections," pages 115-117
Is this one of the Brass Red brothers? Had a look at list of videos done by BR Brothers. Very different to this one. This video is top class intellectual value. Not sure about the others.
Hey! Thank you for watching! This is Andre who made this video. We have a couple different series on this channel. Hot Fresh Popcorn is more pop culture and hosted by Bobby and we also have discussion videos over certain films. The longer video essays like this one take a bit longer but we're currently working on a few new one's. Let me know if there's a topic you'd like to see in the future!
@@ReelMovieReviews666 thanks Andre.
I like Dostoyevsky especially. Do you do other classic literature? Authors like Dante, Milton , Kierkegaard. Mainly Christian classic writers I guess. Thanks for responding anyway.
Stay tuned! I would love to do a video on a lot of those writers. We're also looking into doing more dostoyevsky related content. Thanks again for watching!
💜
Where can I find the sources of Dostoevsky's biography? Or was this from "From the House of the Dead"?
Cool video. Can you please do Tolstoy next?
Thank you! We do a lot of videos on this channel like movie reviews but we have more author biographies coming up. Tolstoy is a great recommendation!

17:07 "So, roughly speaking... It's no joke, bucko"
Who do you think is the greatest of the Russian writers?
Dostoyevsky, Gogol, Chekov,
Platonov, Bulgakov, Victor Serge, Solzhenitsyn. The biggies!
Hey, you forgot Alexander Pushkin!
And Lermontov!
@@stevennorfolk4466 Forgot Leo Tolstoy,
Forgot also, Vassily Aksyonov and Sorokin. Pasternak, Grossman, Maxim Gorky. Kind of like a second division, but also great. Just not AS great (well, maybe, Pasternak is.) I mean it's really endless
Definitely up to par with Trump’s intellectual!
What is the name of this man speaking?
!!!
Automaattinen toiminta kielto joka tätä yritti Daniel Rossi perheineen toiminta kieltoon
Play this at speed 1.5 and thank me later 👋
That would just ruin the tone and sadness of his life that this video is trying to convey
What's the rush?
Why is Fidel Castro telling the biography of Dostoyevsky?
Padhavallakii evvi anii vamo evvi anni rich people education
A very nice job. Two important notes: please, for heaven's sake, learn how to properly say Jung, and Übermensch! That is all.
What would he think of the war in the donbass?
That Putin is a murderer, that's for sure
He would hate that atheistic antichrist zhids are destroying his people just like he predicted the Bolsheviks would do 50 years beforehand in Demons. Why make this political?
sure but what about the Jews?
What about them? Vis-a-vis Dos? Plse say more...
"Salvation is from the Jews" and ...
He was anti-Semitic. Not unusual . He was also anti Roman Catholic. Using the word Jesuit was a curse.
@@jeanf8998Nothing wrong with either of those things.
Not so much a biography as an opinion piece about his philosophy
