- Based on the life of Anne Boleyn, mother of Queen Elizabeth I, Anna Bolena is an opera about power, passion, honour and vulnerability during turbulent times, with deadly consequences. It marked as one of the most impressive moments in the career of the bel canto composer Donizetti. With his magnificent, melodious music, he transformed historical facts into a world of intense emotions, deeply moving to this day.

Nog een paar nachtjes slapen en dan kunnen we eindelijk een echte Anna Bolena in Nederland horen...gelukkig wordt de uitvoering van 21 mei 2022 ook live op de radio uitgezonden door NTR Opera Live op radio 4.
Ik heb gisteren de voorstelling in Amsterdam bijgewoond. Adembenemend mooi.

Cara Marina, hai un abito terrificante,stai rappresentando una tragedia, non puoi cantare con quella faccia rilassata! Devi far emergere il dolore di Anna Bolena come hai detto nell'intervista!! Poi Jane Seymour in vestaglia da notte non si è mai vista!! Cari seguite il libretto che ve lo siete dimenticato 😔 e poi nessuno delle due ha un qualcosa da regina! Marina Rebeka is a fine Anna Bolena. Edita Gruberova was the best, much better than Callas in this role (and I am Greek).
She is for me an real joke ! Her voice is Soubretta-lirico-leggiero without attack or even appropriate belcantostyle ... she is overrated (political investment from Baltic states) .... her Zerlina
& she is not a lady or even the lady on stage & will never be ! Look how She speaks & on her face : we call that a potatogirlface = Soubretta
