Oh yeah. Percy Jackson on the horizon, and i'm hyped. Today we break down what the season is likely going to look like and how it will play out. Enjoy. - Розваги
I really hope this show does well and that we can make it all the way to The Last Olympian and even HOO i hope it doesnt flop and get cancelled
Yes and trails of Apollo, and the sun and the star would be amazing!
@@kimberlybrinkhuis that would be a lot of work because HOO and ToA are really big
I can’t wait for some new flashbacks in this show that weren’t even in the first book.
If they did HoO I would actually be so happy but I doubt they will
@TheMysticMagic of they can get through all 5 seasons of pjo and it gets good reviews and views, then I'd say they could make hoo work
Actually, there have been some leaks from the NYCC! Spoilers below:
The show is starting with Percy narrating, broadly, the first few pages of the books (not all of it). While he’s taking, we see some scenes of young Percy seeing stuff that others don’t. We see him sitting alone in class and drawing a creature he saw, because no one believes him. Then we see how Grover and Percy meet on Yancy Academy. That’s rlly cool in my opinion, it shows their early friendship.
Really really confident that this is going to play out well!
That’s actually very good
I think I would like to see ep 1 ending with Percy defeating the Minotaur and fainting and Grover taking him to camp and ep 2 starts with him waking up. I feel like it would be cool to start episode 2 having the mc think it was all a dream, but all of them to be true. Also the end of ep1 would feature Annabeth feeding Percy in a trance like scene.
Edit:Read the first reply.
Wasn't it Percy who dragged the uncoinsious Grover to camp after defeating the Minotaur then fainting himself as he tries to reach the big house/or he actually reaches it, the first film makes it that Percy faints only and Grover takes him to camp, but the book does the other thing I just wrote down. I could be wrong tho (:
@@kimberlybrinkhuis oh yeah, sorry, I forgot.

You could do a post credit scene of luke poisoning the tree and the borders starting to shimmer
Just looking at the cast choices, I'm getting so exited. The cast looks even more like the characters to me than what I always imagined whilst reading the books. I'm like a child on Christmas, I'm laughing with giddiness.
Also I'm really exited to see Lassie from Psych as Hephaestus.
Say what you like about the movies but Jake Abel was a good Luke. Too old but he put in a good performance. I can't imagine a Disney child actor doing better.
Wow a 21 year old playing a 13 year old i wonder why an experienced adult actor would do better than a child. Tired
The actor they chose, Charlie, has played some pretty complex characters already, even a closeted gay kid. I think his tragic portrayal of Luke will grow as the show continues to go on and we see more of him.
I agree. Really The movies weren't really bad as a standalone movies. Not Avatar level of bad... They did make some good decisions as far as casting and characters are concerned. And it doesn't look bad. They just completely ignored the source material.
The same writers who worked on black sails are also in pjo and that gives me very high hopes for Luke's character arch. Also I have no doubt Charlie will nail this. I've loved all his projects.
@@LivsWings_ oh dear. I didn't like black sails. Well, luckily I'm out of the fandom.
I understand that they’re catering towards new consumers but I honestly don’t care for the fight scenes in the first book. Percy Vs Ares is essential but other than that I’m mostly just excited for the dialogue between the characters. I would easily be happy with watching Walker talk to different characters for an hour straight
i truly hope this show is going to be great and they keep to the source aka books and this is one of my top series i was looking forword to see this year and next few years
Me too. I can’t wait for some new flashbacks in this show that weren’t even in the first book. The Percy Jackson movies were both DOA because the author didn’t get to be apart of it at all.
Something I might want to see is a couple of easter eggs in the background hinting towards the Romans, and maybe even the Norse and Egyptians. The sort of thing a casual watcher wouldn't notice, but would definitely make a hardcore fan jump out of their seat.
Well since we are starting in NYC it wouldn't be too out of the question to see some of the Egyptian stuff like the Brooklyn House in the background, maybe Freak the Griffin flying around somewhere.
@@nicholasholladay-elser7307wouldn’t freak be canonically shown when Percy is much older? Or is the Kane series closer to the time of the first series
@@anti3544 Hard to say. I haven't read the crossover yet but in the second book of the Kane series we see a black Pegasus flying around which is likely Blackjack as he's the only black one that we are aware of in the New York area.
@@nicholasholladay-elser7307 Sword of Hades short story and Red Pyramid took place in the same Christmas season, then Throne of Fire in Spring, then Last Olympian in August, and Serpent's Shadow in September.
Yesssss! Great idea!
I keep going back and forth about how optimistic I am for this series but after watching Disney's recent Goosebumps adaptation I'm pretty pumped. Disney+ originals haven't really stood out among the streaming wars beyond Marvel / SW IP, but Goosebumps handled an ensemble cast really well and despite being a kids book series IP, they didn't seem to pull any punches. It feels gritty enough and doesn't talk down to the audience, so I'm excited for Percy Jackson -- especially knowing Rick has played such a big role in its production. I feel like to balance out pacing we'll likely get more insight / split POVs following the gods more.
I’m not worried about there being little content to put on an episode-to-episode basis, if the episodes are indeed going to be an hour long.
Episode 1 being named after the first chapter will realistically see the school setup, the museum scene, and then, Percy getting kicked out, arriving to camp, and passing out, before going on to episode two, which is where he meets everyone, tours the camp, gets involved in his first game of CTF, and gets claimed by Poseidon. You said these chapters don’t have a lot of content they can adapt, but I just don’t think that’s true, and the episodes being titled after chapters should be seen as an easter egg rather than be taken literally.
I really hope they keep crusty, its a rare moment (at least in the first series) that gets kinda dark
Something that scares me is the boycotts going on and how that will affect the show’s numbers. People r cancelling their Disney plus subscriptions and pirating Disney properties. Not to mention Rick Riordan’s recent statements that might convince some people to stop supporting his work. So if the numbers aren’t as high as the studios hoped, we might not get anymore seasons.
If Riodian saying dumb things in the past didn't make him less popular I don't expect his stock to plummet now. He's too many peoples' darling "Uncle Rick". He's sucked up to his fanbase like he's slurping ramen noodles.
What did he say?
Well, there's still time. I also don't believe every single person who tweets about boycott will be doing it. Remeber, boycotting Disney will do nothing, because this is a monopoly and owns too much, that's why it's not on the BDS target boycotting list. If you want to help you should focus on the list, boycotting Percy will only hurt the show and the actors in the process, so no there are better and many ways to help Palestine, whereas for the show it's pretty much it. You shouldn't guilt tripping people who are excited about the show and want to support it by watching it on Disney too. It's important to support the show, if we want next seasons, the kids and everyone involved in making this show, they deserve it and it's not their fault Disney funded Israel at the beginning of the conflict. I will subscribe Disney only for Percy because I want to support the, show, the kids and everyone's hard work
@@samz2156 He said at the beginning of the conflict that he stands for both Israel and Palestine, but he meant innocent lives and whereas he remained neutral it wasn't as bad as many people claim it to be
I do Think it makes sense, disney should have never declared that thye supported Israel when they know Its a very polarizing thing.
I personally support palestine But Im still probably going to Watch the show, Its a artist vs art moment
Being trueful, I'm just looking forward to having a good adaptation of the books, but the most important thing to get casual fans on board is the speech at start because it may get more of them interested in the Book series.
I’ve recently been reading the books so I’m excited seeing this on the big screen
Speaking of changes, there should be reason(s) for casting other Olympian gods who are not in the first book. Wonder how that'll shake up the show...
Dexter did the internal monologue perfectly, and that aspect of the character was perfectly developed from book to screen. Now, this can’t really be compared to Dexter at all, but that shows inner monologue demonstrates that it could work, if done carefully, and properly
Awesome as always thanks
Oh, they'll definitely be changing stuff. No doubt. After all, in the midst of all those ending sequences, we also need to see Kronos attempting to pull Percy down to Tartarus and accidentally getting Grover instead because of the whole "Percy can't fly because Zeus will zap him out of the sky" thing. Some things are just gonna have to get left on the cutting room floor.
Of course, Twitter point blank refuses to understand that. It's all "No, it's gonna be perfect! Trust Uncle Rick!" Like, guys, no. Stop being delulu (and while you're at it, stop being creepy).
I can’t wait for some new flashbacks in this show that weren’t even in the first book. The Percy Jackson movies were both DOA because the author didn’t get to be apart of it at all.
I ask Twitter:" Haven't you learned that books have ultrafans who whinge over every change, while most people who love the books like the movies too?"
And lines can be switched around if it's just Exposition, not Character building.
I can’t wait for some new flashbacks in this show that weren’t even in the first book.
i think ... was it called fleabag? or something like that, they did the internal narration GREAT but im not sure if the PJO series would do to well ... perhaps just the start of the ep, yeah!
Eventually id love to see them make the orientation video and release it as promo for a future season
I’m exited for this but for some reason I can’t see the actor as Annabeth as Annabeth nothing against the actor I’m sure she’s great but this book series was the first I ever read and actually understood. My vision of Annabeth was more Mediterranean or even a little Hispanic with blond/good hair and grey eyes so I’m excited to see how this plays out.
Could you discuss the Emoji Movie?
They're doing a 2 episode premiere.
What about those other kid series mythology based book franchises? The Norse and Egyptian gods based ones. Those were pretty good reads as well.
There is a plan to make the Egyptian ones a show on Netflix, or at least there was.
This is gonna SO GOOD!
I am expecting great things on the new shows. I loved the original movies so don’t mess it up l
I was also thinking hard about how these episodes could play our. My speculations are as follows:
Ep1. Percy Vaporises his pre-algebra teacher.
Ep2. Percy becomes the supreme lord of the bathroom.
Ep3. Percy and co. visit the garden gnome emporium.
Ep4. Percy plunges to his death.
Ep5. A god buys Percy and co. cheeseburgers.
Ep6. Percy and co. take a zebra to Vegas.
Ep7. Percy and friends find out the truth, sort of.
Ep8. The prophecy comes true, duh.
Oh my gods, these are such great ideas! Disney should hire you.
those are just the released episode titles that came out over a month ago but you just added 'Percy' to the start of them-
@@livelaughlynlapid that was the dam point of the joke. These titles (and other chapter titles in the books) describe actions so... you get the idea.
@@livelaughlynlapid You kinda missed the joke-
@@CaptainvonDore not sure how good of a joke that is but i get what you mean now
Objectively this won’t end well. Disney plus doesn’t have enough subscribers to carry it well, it should have been done by Netflix or Amazon prime to go well. Or, the second option, is that it will just be carried by the Blackrock group independently of how many actually are subscribed
If I don’t see two little emo children in the background (Bianca and nico) in the lotus scenes I don’t want it 😒 /j
*points at screen when noticing them*
Season 3: *points at the same scene but from the camera is on Nico and Bianca while Percy is in the background*
The movie is actually has the best casting as well just too old they’re supposed to be 12 thats the only problem (and the storyline ofc)
Look it cant be worse than the movies, thats for sure
Meh it looks worse to me but I'm not in the fandom anymore, not really. I also expect I've out grown what I liked about the books back when I was in it, it's not that I don't like Kid stories anymore (my favorite TV show ever is a children's series, and I'm currently obsessed with Sky Trackers from 1994 which is definitely not written for my age group), just not this one. Maybe the present day fandom will love it who knows.
Don't jynx it lol
Don't say that. Don't ever say that. Because things can ALWAYS be worse, 😂
That’s not very hard to do though.
@@DigiDestined13nothing could be worse than the movies.
I’m sorry but why does every tv show /movie have to raceswap something ? Anna Beth?
Guess this kills any chance at a Magnus Chase adaptation. Wouldn't make sense for black Annabeth's cousin to be white and Norse, now would it?
Vikings Valhalla cast a black woman as a historical figure who was a white man. I wouldn't put it past Disney to make Magnus black.
@@AS-ri1mbOh they absolutely will…
I mean.. in 'magnus chase' we have tj n john who are black demigods, n even tyr himself, a norse god n ex ruler of all th aesir pantheon before odin n thor, is a black man. Soo.. i don't think it's such a big deal tbh. N btw, just because this annabeth is black doesn't mean magnus can't be white, look at th case of karter n sadie frm 'th kane chronicles'; they are siblings, therefore a closer degree of kinship than cousins, yet he's a black guy n she's a white girl
Mixed race families are a thing.
I have always been and still am super excited for this series, but I understand why people are upset, but other than all the woke stuff I think it will still be good and true to the books (besides the woke stuff of course). Because of the woke stuff and all the controversy that’s caused though, I doubt it will make 5 seasons. Maybe 1 or two more if they’re lucky. I will still probably appreciate it for what it did do though.
Bro what woke stuff?
@@alixgoldare you kidding me
Bros calling this stuff woke as if the entire series itself isn’t very liberal and woke. This guy probably hates will/nico.
@@corbandybdahl fr. The actors’ skin colors don’t have any importance to the story. I’m guessing that’s what they’re on about
@@alixgold it very obviously is. But as long as the actress can play annabeth, I’m happy.
my prediction right now, is it'll be okay to good, but not great. competently made, but nothing groundbreaking. It'll differ heavily from the source material, but almost all of the media coverage after its release is gonna be about racists crying over Grover and Annabeth.
I'd be mad Annabeth isn't blonde but I just remembered I was mainly in this fandom because my ex best friend was and since we split company I didn't have to care anymore. Thank God.
Was he a negative influence?
@@puterboy2 she. And yes she was. She was very toxic. She was also obsessed with Rick Riodian for the near decade we were friends.
Her grey eyes I understand but blonde?! How did being blonde add anything to her character?
@@HannHio-kv1ky You’re actually open-minded over this? It was meant to show that even blondes can be smart.
@@HannHio-kv1ky she (Annabeth) was a blonde smart girl. Like Elle Wood! It would be like making Legally Blonde with a brunette with dreads!
I feel conflicted because unnecessary changes to prominent character descriptions (fr, what happened to "dark hair, green eyes"? why does percy look like will now? why couldn't they just dye his hair? it's suspicious to me) are almost always a sign that bigger disregards for things the existing fanbase are attached to, but at the same time I trust Rick to make sure the original story is well-told and make sure the character personalities are accurately adapted? I'm having a hard time getting a feel for this adaptation.
Same. Rick supposedly claims he was sticking to the source material and yet, here he is changing up everything like the directors did to the movies.
It makes sense that he didn't want to dye his hair. IIRC, Walker had dyed his hair before due to previous projects, and so he probably realized how damaging it can be to dye his hair
@@WillowtheMuppet If he wants to prioritize his hair, he shouldn't be an actor. Over the course of a career he's gonna have to potentially dye it, shave it, style it how he doesn't like, etc. "What about my hair" isn't a great excuse when you knew what character you were auditioning for.
@@LittleHobbit13 yea, that makes sense. Let's just hope he gives us a good performance to make up for it
I really hope people boycott Disney, at least pirate the show or smtg
I agree with boycotting disney because it's a greedy company that doesn't protect its poc actors e.g how halle was harrased just for playing the little mermaid as a black woman
Sure pirate the show that people work hard on cause you don't like the parent company making it defiantly a great idea to get more seasons just great
Boycotting Disney will do nothing, because this is a monopoly and owns too much, that's why it's not on the BDS target boycotting list. You should focus on the list, boycotting Percy will only hurt the show and the actors in the process. It's important to support the show, if we want next seasons, the kids and everyone involved in making this show, they deserve it and it's not their fault Disney funded Israel
Pirating the show won't help the show get the numbers it needs to be greenlit for season two. If you really wanna support the show, then keep your subscription during the release of the show, then cancel it after
@@teenielimzagreed, i Honestly hate What Disney is doing right now with funding Israels child murder, but i dont really want to let the show die because of it.
Probably gonna get the subscription when the entire show is out, Watch it and Then cancel it after
I’m looking forward to a remake of this series, but I have to ask. Am I the only one confused why they cast a black girl for Annabeth? I swear I’m not trying to be racist and sorry if you take it that way. But everyone who’s a fan of the series knows that Annabeth is a white girl with blonde hair and gray eyes. Why was this changed? Am I missing something? I feel like Disney changed this so they can say “we’re diverse” in an uncool way. What are everyone else’s thoughts?
Did her being white add to the story? Will making her black detract from the story? I'm not seeing the issue here at all. As long as the character spirit/personality are the same, who cares?
I believe they did something akin to blind casting, ie, they chose the actors who portrayed the characters the best. It’s not easy finding good child actors, I think they went with personality over looks. Something similar (not to the same extent but still) happened in Harry Potter. Emma Watson was way too pretty and pristine for Hermione but she had the perfect personality, Daniel Radcliffe didn’t have green eyes and black hair, bit he was clearly Potter. At the end of the day, the actors seem perfect for their characters, even if they don’t look the exact same as the books
@@anapiedade7993 That's exactly how it should be. Except in cases where the person's culture is important to plot/story or integral to the character, which is this case, it's not.
@@RoisDohertyNot sure I agree "it's not" in this case. Her looks _did_ play into Annabeth's character. She was basically always the smartest person in the room but because she had stereotypical "blonde Cali beach babe" looks she was always underestimated by the people around her. It not only caused her grief and frustration, but she later also used it to her advantage to get people to _purposely_ underestimate her. So yes, Annabeth's looks mattered to her character, but since black women often face similar struggles of not being taken seriously I think in this case it was translate fairly easily depending on how they handle it.
@@LittleHobbit13 I can agree with you in a few ways. Annabeth was always underestimated because she looked like a typical blonde girl who are thought to all be airheads. I should know bc I'm actually a blonde myself. It's partly why I was able to relate to Annabeth and loved her character. We're very similar in some aspects.
I feel people took it too far with casting a black girl as Annabeth. If this wasn't based on the book, I wouldn't have a single problem with it. But since they are supposed to be basing the characters after characters from a book, and every single one of them have a specific look, gender, race, and culture, I feel this was too far. It'd be like casting Percy Jackson as a girl. Yes, that's changing gender, but I'm aiming for the confusing aspect of the situation. Nothing more. Hope this makes sense and I have no hate towards the actors. Only annoyance at the casters of the actors and director(s).
I will still be watching the series and hope the kids do well in bringing out the essence of the characters at least.
I honestly lost my faith in Rick as a writer a long time ago. He became way too pandering way too fast. He was more concerned with being the fandom's beloved "uncle Rick" than growing as a good writer. I don't think he can adapt his way out of a paper bag at this point.
How is he pandering?
How is he a bad writer, I've read every book of the percy jackson series and their amazing
@@blazemander2225 the original PJ series was good, so were the first two books of his Egypt God series, and the first two heroes of Olympus were okay(ish); after that he went waaay downhill.

It's more than just knowing that God is real. To be saved from your sins you must choose to believe on God's only son Jesus Christ. He is the only way to eternal life and a life of peace here on earth.
Our sins separate all of us from God and the only way to have our sins forgiven is through what Jesus did when he died on the cross and rose again. Admit your a sinner, be willing to turn from your sins (repent). and choose to believe on Jesus. He is the Son of the one true God, He died and rose again to pay for your sins. and aks him to forgive your sins and be your savior. He will.
"For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 6:23
" For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
It's a free gift. Choose Jesus because NO ONE makes it to heaven on their own and he loves you.
