Came straight here after hearing of you just now on Colbert’s Late Show. Great little song & performance. This song sounds like it could have been written in the 1940s at the height of WW II. Really nice harmony...
Almost lost my husband, but we became best friends again and I've never been more in love. Nine years together in July and baby numero tres next month. Life is good, love is good.
Once in a blue moon, you hear a song you wish you wrote. You cant find a damn thing wrong with it, and you can finally sit back, relax and enjoy the sedation.
My partner struggles massively to express their emotions, and how they feel towards me. But they sent me this song, and now I understand how they feel. Bloody beautiful song.
Also came here right after Colbert show and bought the Rachael & Vilray CD. I always loved this kind of music. I'm a Baby Boomer who preferred the older styled music. Was a regular listener of WNEW 1130 NY. Now the old is New again! PS: I noticed the old RCA Ribbon microphone. Those microphones have great sound.
You're amazing man, I came here from Mike the music snob, and man, YOU'RE INCREDIBLE!!! The feel you have in your playing and singing, damn... How can you only have 3 thousand subscribers, it bothers me... Much love from Denmark!!
Jools Holland is one of the greatest TV shows in history, I’ve watched it for decades… and tbh, your hootenanny nye performance was one of the best I’ve ever watched on it! Amazing 😀
I too paused the YT repeat of the Colbert show to find out what had his attention. OMG - I can leave this earth content in the knowledge that the American Songbook is alive and will continue at least one more generation, under the loving care of these two. It's not just the gorgeous voices and the sweet harmonies - but the songs. Somewhere, Ira Gershwin and Cole Porter are singing along to these genuine, sophisticated, real-rhyme, real-ideas grownup lyrics that love the English language. The vapid "tags" and and three-word repetitions of the Taylor Swifts and Beyonce will be forgotten and ignored after their flashy-trashy one-summer-hits are replaced by something equally base and trite. But not this; not this. Sinatra, Bennett, Crosby, Sarah, Ella, Jo and every great voice of the Golden Days would kill to have this song.
Just woke up, got some breakfast and now listening to this while enjoying it. If this is not the best way to start Sunday morning, I don't know what is.
Two friends, two hearts Too many nights to count them But tonight was something new And I know you felt it too When we fell into the passion of a kiss Around the world We shared these roads together Every journey is grand When you’re holding my hand Do Friends Fall in Love like this? A look that once was merely warm Now blazes with an ardent desire A touch that once was just a touch Burns hotter than a five-alarm fire Oh say you’re mine For all our days to follow What was innocent before Has become a “grande amor” Do Friends Fall in Love like this? (Solo break, whistle, 16 bars) A look that once was merely warm Now blazes with an ardent desire A touch that once was just a touch Burns hotter than a five-alarm fire Oh say you’re mine For all our days to follow As friends we lived before And will live ever more Together, two friends in love
Absolutely brilliant performance on Jules Hollands Hootenanny last night! Perfection! Beautiful to hear! Thankyou! Happy New Year, and best wishes for the birth of your baby!
I keep coming back to this video and my eyes well up every time. This is one of those singular, beautiful performances, with a very cool song. And I don't know if I've ever heard more wonderful harmony. Bravo all around!
I've known for a while that she has a great voice, but boy, does he have a good voice. And the blend of the textures of their voices is incredible. Can't separate them.
Got here after the flipped interview on the Late Show. So glad I did. I sing all day too. Now I got new material. I'm here all week! Enjoy. Love Steve and John too. Life is for fun, and songs.
I played this song for my girlfriend (we used to be adamantly “just friends”) and she almost immediately got up and asked me to dance with her, so I guess we just had our first dance to this song!
I may have committed earlier? I can't get enough of this tune. It's just so subtly perfect. Simply wonderful, the two-part harmony that blends so well, the whistling solo...Rachel with that soothingly sexual voice...well done!
Wow ... as good as it could ever get. Perfect voicing and sweet guitar - not too much, just enough to hold its own without overshadowing the voices. Yep - this is how it should be done. Thanks. JR
Just like the recent visitors, I'm here after hearing of you on Colbert’s Late Show. I didn't realize that it was Rachael Price from Lake Street Dive! I've been a fan for years now. Thanks Steven Colbert!
Vilray!!!! What a beautiful song and incredibly performed; sublime harmonies. See you at Town Hall on the 26th!! (This is Harry's friend, Dan, btw. Pat's my wife.)
His voice sounds like a cross between Bing Crosby and Burl Ives, and her voice also uniquely sounds old fashioned. Even at 2:48, when they stop harmonizing in that old style, their voices still sound like the 40's. Is it possible that perhaps its the microphone that's making it sound that way? Does anyone know what's giving it that old fashioned tone (besides the harmonies)?
Gorgeous in so many ways! Great original, Vilray. "Hotter than a five-alarm fire"--whew! Way to sing it, Rachael, and way to swing it, both of you guys.
Thank you Fresh Air on Capitol Public Radio for introducing me to yet another fantastic gem. To think I could have missed out on introducing my kids to beautiful music like this.
WOW! Just Wow! You guys are GREAT! Such a wonderful and beautiful sound. Make more music... lots more :-). Special thanks to Stephen Colbert for mentioning your music.

Me too, just awesome and the highlight of the show for me
@@gavterrygt And me too. I knew of Rachel for several years but not this pair as a duo.
Me too
My best friend played this song for me on my birthday and that's how I knew he was in love with me and I wasn't alone in my agony. 🤣
Stephen Colbert mentioned this song. Great duet. I love the guitar playing.
Stephen Tyler yup. Came here from his suggestion
That's why I'm here. Colbert bump.
@@codywachsmuth8169 me too !
The only thing this is missing is the crackle of a record player needle. 10/10 love this song.
That could probably be added.
There is a bit of one, but it is very quiet. Kind of shame.
Here bc John Oliver just asked Stephen Colbert "what was the last song you sang out loud?".

Oh yes. Colbert's playlist recommendations have to be on Spotify if this is indicative of his playlist!!!
This deserves at least like 10 million views! What is wrong with you people???
Absolutely beautiful. 💗💗💗

This song is so good it's hurting my brain. ❤
My current girlfriend and I are very much displayed in this lyrics.
Love it! Yes, I’m old enough to recognize a bit of The Mills Brothers influence. Interesting harmonies and rhythm.
OH, wow, just WOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I’m a 80’s Guitarist and I do love my Rock but Holy Moly! I LOVE Rachael and Vilray! Ha! Maybe my musical taste is growing up! Thank you 🙏
Clever, polished songwriting, and divine harmony. I'll take it. ;)
I’m here after Jools Holland. Blown away. It was the highlight of the night for me - thank you x
Stevie Colbert named dropped this song and I'm not a bit disappointed. Absolute WOW! I felt this in my veins
Raechel has one of the best voices on the entire planet and nobody will change my mind
Two friends, two hearts
Too many nights to count them
But tonight was something new
And I know you felt it too
When we fell into the passion of a kiss
Around the world
We shared these roads together
Every journey is grand

As friends we lived before
And will live ever more
Together, two friends in love

Absolutely brilliant performance on Jules Hollands Hootenanny last night! Perfection! Beautiful to hear! Thankyou! Happy New Year, and best wishes for the birth of your baby!
I am sending this to my best friend who also has my heart. Good one Colbert!
You're like a mix of Jon Favreau and Sinatra and I love it and love you.
(likable, passionate Jon Favreau = "Chef" Jon Favreau)
I keep coming back to this video and my eyes well up every time. This is one of those singular, beautiful performances, with a very cool song. And I don't know if I've ever heard more wonderful harmony. Bravo all around!
I heard you on the radio coming home tonight and I was immediately smitten by this sound! Awesome!!

So Vilray, it's ok to fall in love with Rachael!
Always top of the tops! I wish I could sing like this
Beautiful! This music transports you to a different time. An amazing time!😁🤙
Here not because of Stephen Colbert, but because Lake Street Dive is amazing and anything Rachael puts out is nothing short of beautiful.
Beautiful.. Simply beautiful
