I’ve been having my girlfriend give me basic I guess you’d say “traditional style I guess” braids for the last few months and ever since then I’ve found these dreadlock videos quite intriguing, though I don’t think that dreads are for me, I much prefer my braids but I really like these types of videos now.

Great Content! Wish i had this info when starting my journey. Wanted Dreads since i was 6 years old. I Always had braids because i knew no local loctitions. My sister had beautiful dreads but didn't start them locally. When I turned 22 I went to several African hair salons to start my journey but they all said my hair was too thin and curly to dread. Then on my last attempt i met a loctition from Cape Verde that was use to my texture hair and she did my dreads exactly how i wanted. Took a year to lock up and i had to keep coming back every 2 weeks spending about $80, $100-$120 after tip but it was worth it. After that i was able to retwist on my own. Had dreads for 12 years now finally thinking about cutting them though. Just sick of the maintenance process amongst many things.

I started my original set of Locs using the twisting with gel method, after a few months there were no results. I switched to the box braid method I did not like they way it looked and I nearly gave up on the journey. Thankfully I came across the crochet needle locking method. Here I am 9 years and 5 months later. Also I don’t use gel any longer I haven’t for years I don’t like the residue/build up it caused for me!

I'm doing the freeform dreads method and it's working it looks great but it's not where i want it hopefully next year it get's to where i want it to be
Just stay dreadicated, freeform dreadlock take up to 2 or 3 year before it fully mature. I Been freeforming for 7 month with no manipulation on type 4 hair I know what you mean. Now I love every bit of it you should to if you freeforming dude.

Can definitely say my hair grows slower than you’d because we stopped waving at about the same, I do have a high to hairstyle tho so that can say something but still like how your hair goes to your eyebrow and even a lil lower mine goes to right above my eyebrow just interesting to say the least

I just started my dreadlocs journey with two strand twist. For maintenance I use a spray bottle with sea salt, water, and coconut oil .I had my twist in for three days. what should I be expecting in the few weeks to come? (btw I have 4C hair) also I spray in the morning an night with a durag
i got the same routine and honestly just expect the 2 strand to slowly disappear and for your ends to remain fairly curly for a while. i’m about to hit month 3 on the 24th and i only retwist once a month. budding started after the first retwist but it was very prominent in the 2nd. my 2 strand appearance is still there but not noticeable enough to know that’s how they were started. the new growth hair appears to bud much faster than the 2 strand parts. just stick with it and enjoy the ride though. i’ve grown comfortable with the frizz and loose strands and my hair never unraveled after a wash and i wash whenever i feel my scalp needs it (mainly every 2 weeks)
