Most people remember it was the 11-5 Saints getting upset by the 7-9 Seahawks.....What people don’t care to remember is Matt Hasselbeck led the Seahawks to a 4-2 start that season but then got injured and missed the rest of the regular season. Charlie Whitehurst took over the 4-2 Seahawks and led them to a 7-9 finish. It just goes to show you how valuable it is to have your starting quarterback all season. In reality, it wasn’t that big of an upset when both teams were healthy.

I hadn't become a Seahawks fan yet, and after they won their very first Super Bowl, I decided to join the fanbase and did some of research on them, and when I heard about the beastquake where Marshawn Lynch did that touchdown run, that was so awesome! I never turned my back on the Seahawks since I became a fan. Now I have Seahawks gear because I want to wear them during every Seahawks game, and I even have a 12th jersey and am a true die-hard fan. I always have been since they won their very first Super bowl, but something was missing, and it was trying to get my hands on one of the Seahawks jerseys and I finally got one! I'm totally blind, so I listen to the play by play on the radio, and the description of what's going on during the games really helps. Go Hawks! I'm a 12th till the day I die.

Think about this: the 2010 and 2011 NFL season’s featured similar playoffs symmetry! You had the Seahawks in ‘10 and the Broncos in ‘11 right? Neither team had a winning season yet they both WON their divisions. Obviously Seattle had a losing record but Denver was 8-8. Then you have the WC games themselves which were both decided by a long-distance TD to end the game. Obviously “Beastquake” is the more memorable play, but I also vividly remember the Tebow to Demaryius Thomas TD as literally the first play of OT with the brand new NFL overtime rules. Crazy sports-symmetry.
If you want to see just why this game is perhaps the biggest and most unlikely upset in NFL history, just take a look at the 2010 Seahawks and their schedule-they played against a *WEAK* NFC West and an average AFC West, and they lost every game by more than 15 points. These Saints, who were the defending Super Bowl champions at the time, pretty much went one-and-done to a rebuilding team that usually would have finished 3-13 or 4-12 in any other season!
One could argue this was Hasselbecks finest moment given everything he had dealt with. And yes, that includes leading this team to a SB during his tenure.

When the beast quake run happened I was yelling so loud freaking out my little girl didn’t know what to think she was just looking at me like “wtf dude” 😂. The crazy thing to think about too is that if the hawks had managed to pull out a win the following week in the divisional, with Green Bay upsetting number 1 Atlanta, they would have with a losing record hosted the nfc title game.
