Wow his farm was amazing. I watched both episodes just now. And then went to his channel and realized he’s now in Tennessee! My husband and I are also from Southern California and move to Tennessee three years ago. I have my backyard garden going. So now I’m really catching up on what he’s doing and subscribed to his channel. So glad you shared this!
Great tips guys. I'm 22 and i wanna open a succulent nursery, found a lot of this info helpful especially the parts about space and making sure of a steady income before quitting your permanent job
This video gives me hope, i am just starting out my raised garden bed and in doing research came across this video, i hope to one day be self sufficient , not really to sell but to eat organic, certified organic
This is such a great video! From being out of debt so you can start your own business to asking people around you if you can grow in their space as well. We have been adding raised beds each year in our urban space. This year also expanding to the front yard. These kind of videos get me so excited to continue to expand what we do. I am also going back to school for sustainability and organic gardening degree because of how we want to live and teach others. Keep up the great work!
The two of you together just might be too much lol. Such valuable information! I think someone should touch on the topic of farming/gardening while renting. Most people would love to start but don't own any land. Thanks again for your time and knowledge.
You can easily start in grow bags like he showed. There are various types that hang on walls or fences and off of balconies. I live with my father and have to get permission to put anything into the ground so, I am using raised garden beds and vertical grow bags and intermixing veggies with flowers so as to not look so much like a garden when the HOA police come around lol. Good luck to you, you can do this!
We need more people like you guys to teach us how to grow our own food, we are so overpopulated that in order to feed everyone the self sustaining backyard garden is absolutely necessary.Thank you
I have been establishing garden beds in my back yard, to save money on food and get fresh food, then I saw this video, and it has given me a boost in motivation and idea's. Great job man ! thanks for the content
Hello, I have 7acres of land in SoCal and I want to make sure I start things off right. I have had great sucess with container gardening over the past two years. I am really excited to get started my new home purchase. Thank you for teaching us how to become gardeners.
Steven sounds and acts just like a friend of mine who is also named Steven. It's so weird to watch this video, and not see my friend's face on your body. Great video, and thanks for the insight!
@Epic Gardening Lots of thanks to you and Steven for the info on the cost to set up a small scale organic farm in your backyard. AWESOME, AWESOME CONTENT!
@Billy Bob The first amendment is before the second and the Trump administration is currently looking to criminalize journalism by indicting Assange as well as crushing mostly peaceful protesting. 4th amendment, we are still being spied on by the government. 5th, self incrimination by bulk data collection. 6th, speedy trial, Assange is being charged with espionage act. 7th, trial by jury Assange doesn't get one. 10th, Trump has been on the wrong side of states rights initially pushing to reopen during the pandemic. That's just the first 10, Trump is also in violation of the emoluments clause for not divesting.
I saw your photo in a recent Gardener's Supply Company catalog of the newly completed design of your previous backyard. Loved the video showing the transition.
Hi Kevin, this is Saeed here from Australia. I really loved the video and the concept especially. Just need to get more info on how to start such a setup for business when you don’t have your own land.
Fantastic, every single element, so thought through and well researched....synergistic, multi purpose. I love your chicken coup design, the passion fruit shading. My passion fruit produced really well in it’s third year, and responded well to pruning (chop and drop). Having the chicken’s fertilising yours, possibly yours will bear earlier and you will have loads but it will need phosphorus, or all that nitrogen will put out a tonne of green growth.
Awesome garden Steven . Living the dream , being outdoors , connecting with the land , and providing for your family . The American Dream . I think people have complicated it soo much . Would love to see you grow a huge cannabis plant lol 🙏🌞💦🌱🌳
he should really think about quail. They can be raised like compost chickens depending on the breed. they can also be sold as chicks if he wants to be a small scale hatchery. (we need more local hatch)
I'm a bit late to this video, but I was wondering what the purpose of putting the loops over the farm beds? Is it to just visually help with the bed spacing and walkways?
I do no till organic all you need is to get a few really big tarps and some heavy stuff to hold them down and within a three-month period You have a nice plot of usable dirt
I've watched videos done with both of you and I've learned so much, so thank you! Question, how do you keep the rodents and other pests out of the garden?
You should watch Jeb Gardener he figured out a way to hydroponically grow microgreens organically with worm castings it's very simple doesn't require any air pumps and it produces a cleaner product because there's no dirt involved
Thanks for the video, guys. What is the name of the plug tray that mimics soil blocks? That is a really neat idea and would work great for me.What is the link to the site for people looking for yards to farm in?
It is not necessary to build a greenhouse that takes up valuable space. Just follow the Good work of the late Dr. Ann Wigmore and grow your microgreens organically in lots of soiled base flat trays indoors and on your condo balcony and save a fortune over time. Thank You Gardener Holistic Chef Barry Anderson co-founder of the Garden Villa Phuket Thai Nature Retreat on the resort island of Phuket Thailand. However, Americans can learn a lot from this video and to learn and to make massive actions to live more off the grid.

I'd love more information on everything that did not work for him and why.
Very awesome 👏 ❤️

Nice work
This dude got his neighbor to use their backyard for his second gardening (Speech: lvl 100)
Curtis Stone did the same thing. A few years ago he had like 8 different properties where people let him use their backyards.
And Jim Kovaleski!
Lol to the speech lvl joke. 🤣🤣
I'd let this dude garden in my yard if he let me be involved xD

Garden crush!! You are doing a great job. I watched the first video and I love your chicken coop so much. Keep up the great work.
I had a tree collard up here in L.A. for a few years. Grew to about 10ft, constant source of food and juicing material.
Very inspiring. Great idea to come back and check in after 2 years.
Another easy way to cool your chickens is to fill and freeze milk cartons or your mash in ice cream buckets and set or hang them in the run.
Very inspiring video on all levels. Congrats to both of you for succeeding and sharing your stories.
You have a podcast 👍👍 I just joined and gave it 5 ⭐️ . Thanks for your videos I am learning so much more ch love from 🇨🇦
Awesome! I absolutely love what you are doing Steven; you are a real encouragement to me in my gardening in my yard.
Nice work
Thank you for the update! Very cool! By the way, I like your Uncle Jims t-shirt. :-) I've got the same shirt.

Love to see more collabs!
"Advocation" is a term not often used now; we need to remember that what we do to support ourselves should be enjoyable and furfilling
Comfrey is amazing in compost and topically is wonderful for Rheumatoid arthritis. Steeped in oil it makes a great wrinkle reducer and moisturizer.
Brows still on fleek 💯
Nice to see your urban farm is still going

Wow! Thank you for sharing.
I'm a bit late to this video, but I was wondering what the purpose of putting the loops over the farm beds? Is it to just visually help with the bed spacing and walkways?
I’m a bit late to respond but I believe they are row covers. You can drape a tarp over the loops and protect the crops.

Great eyebrows! This indicates a strong constitution.
If everyone had their own farm maybe pandemics wouldn't be this bad, right?
Wow
Regarding the chickens, would you consider digging a hole under the coop to help keep them cool?
