Obviously that's a lil exaggerated but they can definitely flip upside down and take off in the other direction like their life is on the line. One of my five cats atm is pretty jumpy almost all the time, and most of the cats i've owned get or got rather jumpy in the summer months around anything laying about possibly resembling a snake. When i was really young i remember being mean, trying to scare my first cat with this curly extention cord after seeing him jump 2 feet in the air from just walking by it.
Nothing attacked the cat. They can react that way if something stings them (it looked like it was playing with a bug or a wasp or something), if it got scared when a claw got stuck to the carpet or if it got suddenly sick (had a stroke, epileptic episode etc). I feel bad for the cat, I hope the owner took it to the vet but there’s better explanations than “a ghost did it”.

To me the cat clearly jumps ) but yes they do: I have seen a lot of cats pull off similar "stunts". They sometimes go completely crazy and will jump around in the funniest manners, crashing into furniture, sweeping everything off the tables and the like of that. All without warning, just out of the blue.
