As someone new to metal detecting, I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this comparison, and helping me find the perfect shovel so I don’t waste any money!
I also got the pheonix due to Paystreaks recommendation, and i love it, ive never used any one elses metal detecting shovel, so i dont actually know how much better it is, but it works great for me, I also like the size and weight, i can fit it in my nokta backppack, and i can comfortably hold it with one hand while swinging my detector I recently snapped my garret hand digger, i wasnt even prying hard it just had enough and snapped, i was going to order a predetor 75 or 85, but instead i went with Excalibur rugged hand digger, i think its going to be a good digger, someone in the comments of paystreaks video said ill love it, so ill see
All is it takes is to just pop one plug with the Phoenix and you will realize how much you have struggled with your other shovels. I have broken and bent many shovels in my many years of detecting. I am still popping plugs everyday with the same Phoenix for over 4 years. FLAWLESS SHOVEL!!
and the teeth are rounded where they connect to the shovel vs a sharp 90 degree. the square teeth cutouts are a point of failure because it can fracture along those sharp square edges. the round cutouts provide a lot more support and are less likely to fracture the shovel in half.
Excellent comparison video! Thanks for posting this! I’ve been watching Paystreak for a while now. I’ve been aware of the Phoenix from watching Jeremy’s channel. I plan to get one before long. Using a Root Slayer now and it does a decent job. Cheers from Bridgeport, Connecticut!
Cool shovel and video. If you didn’t already know the holes in the top of the shovel blade are for a bolt on rubber foot pad to help cushion when you kick the shovel in the ground. My wolverine landscape shovel has them as well but I haven’t added the foot pads yet. It would prob be useful if you like wearing shoes with softer soles.
That's a pretty good review! Both of those are better than what I've been using for years. I didn't even use a shovel until 8 or so years ago and I've been detecting off and on for around 38 years or more..👍
Hey G2D, i would wonder if that curved blade would cause a few more targets to get dinged. I have a similar shovel to the razor just an 18" version (different make) and it cuts perfect plugs. I don't like the long shovels , i find they make worse plugs. Good video. All the best and happy holidays. :-)
I'm not sure. I really wouldn't think it cause more targets to get dinged as it's not overly curved. I believe the small curve it does have just let's the plug pop out of the hole alot easier. And I can good plugs with the straight. It was more about the compressing of the soil behind the straight shovel and making a a bigger seam around the plug and ground when putting the plug Back in the hole. The curve makes it almost seamless. Hope you and your family and a Merry Christmas and thanks for watching
I was about to buy a razor , ty you for this. I've been using a 36" curve base for 18 years. Not good on plugs or my back. Razor has an offset fulcrum.
Jus got my Phantom 21 ordered. Should be here by this weekend. Can’t wait go play in my lawn when wife is gone. I’ll be burring all my silver…lol. I’ve got a few silvers freshly buried in my test garden. When I die some other metal detectorist will be happy!
I own a Phoenix. 1st video I ever watched of Paystreak Superfreak(J man) I was in the market for a new shovel. How I found his channel. The Phoenix has 2 curves on the blade. It digs the best plugs. I'm a little taller and my only complaint is that it is a bit short for me. Other than that, it is the best shovel. Built very very well. Looking at another shovel now with Predator Tools and see they may have the exact same blade as the phoenix on another model, but that model is about 3" longer, which would be perfect.
Ah sweet man. Yea paystreak is where I seen this shovel and had to have it. I'm 5'10 and it's perfect for me. Yea I believe I seen the shovel you are talking about. If your taller than me I would say the taller shovel would work better. As far as digging plugs though. I honestly think there is no other shovel to compete with the Phoenix. Subscribed to you also. Thanks for watching
Predator Hurricane is the longer handle model 33. Same blade length and width but at 38 1/4 inches total length. By comparison, the Phoenix is 33 3/4 inches (according to their website) Also, there is a difference in the handle. The Hurricane has a T handle while the Phoenix is more D shaped. I prefer the D shape, but that's just personal preference.
Been using the Phoenix for a while it works great and doubles as a hand digger I don't carry a hand digger thanks to this shovel predeter tools gives veteran discounts also
Phoenix is just a bit short for my taste . add 3-4 inches and it would be great for yards for me. personally i`m using the 98cm Evolution spade on grass , and the predator Hornet in fields
I understand that. The predator hurricane has the same blade as the Phoenix but longer with a t handle. I have a video also comparing the Phoenix and hurricane. Thank you for watching
@@MAINELYDIRTFISHIN sweet. That's a awesome machine from what I've seen. I ordered the deus 2, still wating on it. I will only order predator tools shovels from now on.
Everyone will have reasons to either get it or not, but if it's good enough for an amazing detectorist like Paystreak, it should be good enough for the rest of us. I'm buying one!

You can achieve a great plug with either shovel you got gotta know how to use it. I use the lesche and it works pretty good for me.
I'm buying one when I get to the U.S in February
@@billbarry2984 you will love it
Nice job making the video!!!!
Thank you so much. And welcome to the family.
Lowes Home Improvement sells a great "curved" shovel for $17. Its longer, yet lighter too!
That's awesome. But I guarantee u, it won't hold a candle to this shovel. Or last near as long.
thanks i think im going to get that shovel next season
You really won't be disappointed. You will love the Phoenix.
great demonstration
Thank you
Yes, in theory its a good shovel, but you dont want a shovel that aims twards what your trying to find
I see ur point. But I havnt knicked or cut into a target yet with this shovel like I have straight shovel. Best shovel ever made for perfect plugs.
@@Get2Diggin im def thinking about that shovel. Ill have to look at more reviews. If only i knew someine withone
Also check out paystreak superfreak on here he uses one also
Hell yessah I need this shovel

I was using the anaconda nx5 and then switched to the root slayer nomad kicks all the other's backsides lol
That's awesome

The predator looks great, but man it seems overpriced for a shovel. They both are overpriced imo.
The predator is worth every penny I've spent on it. Has not bent on me, or broke. I havnt even had to sharpen it.
I want one but I live in the UK….
Yea shipping would be crazy haha. Thank you

That Phoenix is definitely a nice shovel but I had the same thought as DEPTHSPADER. It looks like the action of the shovel may hit your target!
