Pirate radio was the heartbeat of London's music scene throughout the 90s and 2000s. Without pirate radio the music we listen to today wouldn't have been heard. Long live the analogue age of music!!
People say to me how come I love DnB and Jungle. I'm now in my early 40s! What can I say, I grew up in South London in the mid 90s listening to Don and Dream FM. Was never in doubt :D It's funny cause my parents used to listen to Radio Caroline back in the day, so I guess it's in the blood!
I loved pirate radio when I was growing up in the 2000s, especially the house, reggae and jungle stations. Flex FM was one of my favourites, its great that they're a legal station now!
Big up DJ Scartcha Dan. Used to look up to him. He was part of the Reckless Crew with D Double E, Bruza, Hitman Hyper, Triple Threat, Terror Danjah, Mayhem DT, Skanker and a few others.
That is a lot better then listening BBC R1 or R2 these days. And, yes may be they are a pirates...but they are also an artists making the music, really good music.
The only interference that antenna would cause is to television reception!... Make sure your dipole is far away as possible from 'communal TV aerial's'.
That’s a long way off. The day a car rolls off the production line without an fm radio then we’ll know there done with it. I’m actually I’m in court next week for pirate radio in Essex. Ofcom weren’t impressed with my 300wt rig up a 700ft national grid pylon on the Thames smashing across the whole of London essex Kent herts Sussex 🤣
it would be nice to see the rig builders while they build the transmitters, tune them, use band pass filters and check how clean they are on analysers, but they won't as that would prove they don't interfere with other services or users, or do they ?? Anyone ever checked a rig on an analyser ?? maybe a new video ?

Select Radio too. That was my jam when I moved to London in 2003. They are even on DAB now.

That was awesome. Especially making the effort to visit the fort.
Awesome documentary; very well done. So glad I was able to find a copy of it again.
watching this makes me so sad. I miss pirate stations so much. I spent most my young life playing on them. internet and digital really did kill it
out of all the shit in the world i've always found pirate radio fascinating
Totally agree.
Good video, keep up the tunes, FM will never die!

Made me laugh when the guy said he could listen to pirate radio stations on his BlackBerry mind you at the time it would have been a cool phone
What's the track playing during the start, I've heard the "ohh baby" sampled on a DJ Rashad track

Pirate radio is gone and now we got watered down internet radio. Much preferred the old pirate stations.

I wonder if when they phase out FM there will be a resurgence in Pirate Radio?

@@Kalus_Saxon rip to your station miss it big time
Don't wear white when you are setting up an antenna at night. Good rule to learn :)
Interessante
49m AM..is where it's at..
THIS LOGO IS MARK SHOES MMMMMMM
hahh they can switch the internet off wind a Radio coil get a frequency no switch off
Algore killed pirate radio when he invented the internet.
SS-Dab anyone? ;)
Private station will come to an end when the government should the FM down and put a FM jammer frequency across it
Pirate DAB+ should be doable. Technically more complex, but incredibly advanced tech is now available to mere hobbyists compared to just 10 years ago.
bait up someones rig lol
rinse fm music..this aint music
Lots of factual errors.
