I'm glad that the footage from the last episode with Registan lit by night was just a teaser! It is obvious that exploring the city at night deserves a whole chapter! I especially like the "we're not in Europe anymore" vibe! The food in the restaurant seemed to me a strange mixture of exotic and comfort food at the same time! I would definitely not say no also to a beer at the Bear Bar! Cheers! 🍻🐻
Awesome comment, thank you! I had the best time at the Green Bear Bar and the food I had before was pretty yumm as well. More Samarkand stuff coming soon. 🇺🇿🥰
I am amazed at how well kept the cities are there. Beautiful! That restaurant you went to looked so nice with the fireplace, and all that good food for $9.. Wow! I can barely get a hamburger for that here in NY
Really beautiful places, you're totally right. This restaurant was considered one of the very expensive ones actually. Not a place locals would go to, I guess. I've had other meals in the area for like $2-3. But everything was very tasty, so I don't mind having paid $9 for all those dishes plus the beer. You should visit Uzbekistan. Coming from NY, you'd be shocked when you see the prices 😅
Wow, lovely streets with these beautiful decorations and lovely restaurant, the food looks amazing! But my favorite part was the adorable pub with the mauly sign! It looks like lots of fun to have a pint there. Really enjoyed your video!Cheers!
I hope you liked at least the Green Bear Bar part. I know I had a good time there haha 🍻🍺🇺🇿 Give me some good places to eat in Samarkand and I will definitely be there next time I'm in the city. Would appreciate that 😊
@@WhereDoWeTravelNow That bar looks amazing, actually -- even by my standards, and I am currently in Chicago's Old Town. :) I haven't been to Samarkand since 2003 (I know), but the rule of thumb is that whatever surrounds Registan is terrible tourist trash and the $9 for what you ordered is the proof of that. Anyway, I am sourcing info from the locals, hopefully by the time they respond (in maybe 5-6 hours) you will still be in Samarkand. My recollection is that near the university campus, once you start walking away from the university towards what used to be the amusement park, there will be proper small joints with all the local greatness.
The restaurant he's been at it's actually not near Registan. And it's pretty well rated well. Expensive for Uzbekistan, I agree, but the food is not bad at all.
Christmas is not a big deal in our country. Because of 94.78% of population worships Islam. But in recent years many uzbek families just celebrate it, with no religious reasons. We celebrate New year. Come to Uzbekistan from 20th December to 5th January and see how Uzbeks celebrate a New Year holiday. But it may be some cold and dry air compared to European climate.
Yeah, I knew that about the religious majority, so that's why I was wondering. But Christmas nowadays is being celebrated by lots of people, even when they don't care about the Christian holiday per se. I am not a Christian either, yet I enjoy Christmas because it's fun. Would love to see these New year's celebrations in Uzbekistan one day 🤩🇺🇿🇺🇿 And I love harsh cold weather, so that would be a plus, not a minus 😋

3:23 Pearl is sitting across the room saying tigers. The Moldy bear 😂 looked like a really nice pub
Yeah, I had a lot of fun at the pub. The next day I was very tired haha 😆😆

It's normal street decorations not for only holidays.
I've been waiting for this answer for a few months. Thanks a lot, mate! 😊
