    Super video! Here is an ending similar to shave and a haircut: play 3rd string open, then pluck 2nd fret and hammer on to the third and then fourth fret. Then open 4th string, open 1st string, open 4th and finally 3 fret on the 1st string. In bluegrass it's called the g run. For ukulele we can call it the c run.

      I don't know why you couldn't... I, too, am left handed - and that is what I've done with my soprano ukulele - reverse the strings. I purchased my concert and banjolele as left-handed instruments with the only difference being the little markings on the side of the fret board. A little nail polish can take care of that!

      @clawhammer704 3 роки тому

      Find the sheet music and transpose the cords to what ever key you'll sing it in...that's all it is to it. Rose colored glasses is more of a country music tune but in the video it is a bluegrass group playing a country song.
      I looked at the guitar player cords as he played. He was playing G, C, and D cords but he was capoed at the third fret. That made him playing and singing the song in the key of B flat. I hope that helps you. Just transpose those cords to the key that matches your vocal range. In B flat with no capo just start off on B flat cord then change to the 4 cord then back to the 1 cord at the cord change and the next cord change will be to the 5 cord. If I was playing rose colored glasses and singing along I would strum slowly in 3/4 time to match my singing. Have fun.

    • @khaoslmx21
      @khaoslmx21 3 роки тому

      Thank you so much! I've only been playing for a year, and although I sometimes surprise myself, I admit that I have a lot of difficulty finding just by ear or by observing ... and even by transposing, I succeeded a few times but not often . I'm a beginner, that's all! 🤪 But I think your comment will help me! 😃

      Try plucking an open string and then sharply strike the string with one of your fingers onto the space between the frets (try 3rd fret just to practice). It’s making a sound without plucking g the string with your right hand. I hope that makes sense.

    Thank u, my friend and I want to start a little band playing blues and rockabilly with old school hillbilly instruments, do you know if there's any way to to tune the banjo so that it sound creepy/ distorted?

    What am I supposed to do with my pinky? I feel like I need to push it down on the sound board to anchor, but your pinky is curled up and relaxed.

    • @snyperbob
      @snyperbob 3 роки тому

      I'm playing on a normal uke, I wonder if that's the problem. Looks like you rest your forearm on the edge of your bajolele. Is that your anchor point?

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  3 роки тому

      Hi and thanks for watching. Yes, my forearm resting in the armrest would be my anchor point. I’m coming out with a video soon about fingerpicking technique, and I mention that you can place your pinky on the ukulele to anchor your hand if you’d like. It helps a lot. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. It all depends upon the pattern for me. I hope that helps.

    why do you never pick the g string?

    • @OneMusicSchool
      @OneMusicSchool  5 років тому +2

      Good question. Because the G string is only a whole step away from the A string, it sounds a little strange to the ear. Usually, the ear wants to hear the lowest note in chord. If you had a low g, it would snake a little more sense to the ear. I hope that makes sense.

      @@OneMusicSchool So when picking the banjolele, I shouldn't try to do a 2314 pattern? That makes life easier!

    • @louisecassidy5991
      @louisecassidy5991 5 років тому

      UkuleleAngela .....I frail it with some tunes, make the chord, pluck a note or however many fit that chord, strum down with the fingernails, pluck the G string as you go by. It is actually the Pete Seeger 5 string style. Short a low G because of the tuning. Not unlike clawhammer, but pluck up, then you are up to brush down and thumb. The thumb rides the G string.

    • @louisecassidy5991
      @louisecassidy5991 5 років тому

      One Music School ...I've tried low G, then it doesn't sound like a uke, or a banjo! Restricted if any notes below C in the tune. Frailing is quite addictive once you "get it".

    Winner of a video, I've been looking for "ukulele lessons for beginners online free" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Fenaylern Nonpareil Formula - (do a search on google ) ? It is an awesome one of a kind product for discovering how to play the ukulele like a pro without the headache. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate got amazing results with it.
