Its always good to know how to correct or mask things we don't like about our drawings. It gives us the confidence to just 'have a go' !

And it’s an important drawing skill to learn, as well. 😀

The purely decorative circles that hearken back to a time when they were actual beam ends of a wooden temple structure are what art historians would call skeuomorphic elements. You have provided an excellent example!

It is indeed a great example to learn from, as you guide the viewer through the various pitfalls of drawing this seemingly simple monument. Videos such as these are evidence that good drawing doesn't become a 'mechanical' process, even for a pro. There's no way to tell beforehand what the final outcome will be!

Absolutely! Every drawing an adventure! So we might as well have fun. 😀

Day 14. 15 mins! Getting back down towards 10 mins. Very happy with my efforts although lines a bit a scratchy. I'm left handed and after I watched your videos I practised drawing long straight lines from right to left, then promptly forgot to do that in the drawing. As a left handed it's very hard to remember to do the reverse of sweeping movements of right-handers as we, or at least I am, used to adapting (like using right handed scissors) to copying right hand gestures. Definitely a lot of gestural drawing of the friezes 😅 I do think the right side is larger than the left in my drawing, the perfectionist in me always wants symmetry. Just noticed the bottom of my arch goes into nowhere will resist the temptation to fix it 😅. Thank you Stephen. 😍

15 minutes is just fine, it's not a rule, but whatever is an achievable rhythm for you that allows the results you are after. Great that you can see improvement with these daily exercises.

Thanks Stephen, I am trying not to spend too long as I want to be happy with gestural drawing. Also makes it an achievable daily habit, otherwise if I keep doing the drawing in 30 mins it'll be an excuse not to do it😅 Will work on my long straight lines!
