Not sure if leaving Penelope with Rathbone would be "revenge" or "adding to the mental anguish", given her state of "keeping everyone awake" during that trip.
I don't think I've enjoyed a vlog of people I barely know or barely watched anywhere near as much as this one. Dude is a ginger version of a recently departed friend and the humour and attitudes are very much "my kind of people." So I LOVED THIS. Beautiful daughter as well, condolences on the teething, that's a process.
Mr. Wrathbone 4BR Legendary Creature - Human Vice-Principal Menace When Mr. Wrathbone enters the battlefield, create Bentley, a legendary 2/2 colorless artifact Hound token. If you would lose control of a permanent named Bentley, Mr. Wrathbone loses its Vice-Principal type and becomes a Gas Station Attendant in addition to its other types. 4/4 "Your son or daughter has missed one or more classes today."
Graham, LoadingReadyRun basically started from your High School experiences, face it you're the only group that can tell stories from High School and never have it be irrelevant.
I absolutely love this! I used to be a big LRR fan back in like 2009 or so, but then life happened and I forgot about it all for like 8 years. I'm so thrilled that you and Kathleen are still together and that you have such a lovely family. Looking forward to catching up with everything I've missed and watching more of the great vlogs! :D
My experience with the Port Jefferson ferry from Long Island to Connecticut (about 30 miles?) is to agree: it feels like you've gone a lot farther when you have to use a boat to get there! I've never seen changing station liners stocked. We had our own changing pad that we put on the table, but it disappeared a few months ago (someone was having fun pulling everything out of the diaper bag at a restaurant!). I haven't gotten around to buying a new one yet, so we've just been doing our thing without protection since then!
Graham! Saltspring is one of my favorite places in the world; I sailed up towards the island when I was 10, and it's still burned into my memory, especially the ferry back down through Victoria and the Empress Hotel. Thank you so much for Vlogging it and letting me relive my favorite trip ever.
Wow, watching the fields and the forest roll by is making me cry- especially Ganges harbor, and the great memories of me and my Grandfather fishing out there is making me so happy.
It's such a strange feeling seeing these vlogs and your Japan trip vlogs popping up. I get such a sincere feeling of happiness for some reason. I feel like you guys could just upload videos of pretty much anything and I would still enjoy them just as much.
I just love that you have the same travel Luck that I do and just run into random person from years ago. You are extra lucky to have footage of prank played on said person though.
I feel a combination of curiosity and shame while "tagging along" on your personal lives like this...yet I'm not stopping, so it must be more of the curiosity in the end.
I am loving these vlogs. I have seen how some people improve in their skills at vlogging (including editing, compositins, choosing a topic) by making a vlog every day, or once a week, I think your skills are pretty well developed. ;) I am fine with these only happening when you did something you felt was particularly vlog-worthy.
I'm pleasantly surprised at the frequency of these vlogs! I'm enjoying the window into everyday G-Life. I have concerns, however, that we may eventually reach peak G-Vlog: Graham will be compulsively forced to videotape every waking second of his life for our entertainment/edification.
added Salt Spring Island to my bucket list, thanks Graham! (also, love how I can tell that's TNG y'all are watching based on nothing other than the style of the cargo bay doors.)
chosendark1 Some people probably have stolen some stuff, which is why there are web cams at some of the areas. But one of the reasons tourists like places like that is the isolated and trusting feel of the place. And are you really going to steal from people when you can't get away, all they have to do is give a picture to the cops and catch you when you try to leave.
+chosendark1 a) Trust in small communities is rewarded, even with a somewhat regular flow of outsiders and b) Their lack of spending any time or money running these stands allows them to take the occasional hit better. There is, of course, a point at which enough thievery would render the enterprise strictly unprofitable, but here it seems to have worked out.
Your tiny human is adorable, though it's sad that she's teething. Also, side note, kudos on your Mel Brooks box set. I noticed it in your closet and I have the same one. No surprised you have it and it's a must for any movie collection.
I've been to Salt Spring before, but this video makes me really want to go back again. So beautiful! (Incidentally, being annoyed with but also stuck with tourists is also the fate my home town of Kelowna, BC is stuck with.)
Highly recommend the croissant from Lunn's (in Sidney). Oh, and Maria's Souvlaki (also in Sidney) makes one of the better doner/donair kebabs on the island. For future reference. We regularly make the pilgrimage from further up-island. Pity you didn't get the lamb from Sunset Farm. It's where we get ours. Best lamb in the area, far as I've tried so far. (marinated in lemon juice and garlic for 24+ hours, then slow cooked Mediterranean style covered in herbs, feta, and tomato, on a bed of potatoes and carrots)
driftwolf My friend, I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Lunn's is no more, as they have closed due to the owners having numerous health challenges in recent years. Happily, Maria's Souvlaki is still there and running!
I would recommend looking into the Rode Videomicro with TRS to TRRS cable for audio. You would need a shoe mount to use it but it has worked better for me than the Mic Me.
You know what's hilarious about the liner thing? I work is upper management for a retail chain and every time I visit one of my stores I always have to get on the case of the restroom attendant because none of them ever fill those. Ever single store every visit.
All I can think of during your ferry trip is the ferry here Marine Atlantic. And as I never hear anything about BC Ferries which means they aren't as hated as Marine Atlantic's.
Good on ye for driving responsibly on windy rural roads. Over here, we are sick of tourists driving *too quickly*. The only time driving slowly is dumb is when the limit it 60 MPH and the roads are very straight.
I know you get this all the time, but Penelope is so freaking adorable! Such a gorgeous little lady! This trip makes me want to go to Vashon Island again. I wish our country could do honor system, but there are too many jerks around here.
This was a fun one to watch. I just came back from my own Saltspring trip a week before you guys went, so the entire video was just "yep, yep, been there, yeah that place is cool etc." Totally agree about the drivers, total jerks.
I am enjoying these far more than I thought I would. I haven't watched any of the Japan ones yet - I think I'll have to do that. But I watched the other two today as well and I quite enjoyed! I do have a question - what, precisely, is attached to your phone? I'm rather curious about the equipment itself. :D
Teachers never forget! Or in the case of my junior high gym teacher, they forget how much the disliked you (and nearly failed you) but are SUPER excited when they hear your voice on the radio. All while they're driving past your town in a big rig, which is what they drive for living now, and decide to call you while your doing your radio shift. Weird teacher stories, ya!
As a Florida man, I can relate to the people who are fed up with tourists. Still doesn't make any sense for either of us, but I can relate. I guess at least Volusia County (where I live) isn't quite as reliant on tourism as Salt Spring Island, I suppose.
Dudes! Please continue doing these travel videos, they are amazing :) Because you are a couple with a pretty little girl (so 0 creepyness) and both of you are kinda nerdy (compliment) it feels very natural and familiar. Cheers!
Seeing the "BUZZ", "POP", "CRACKLE" cards made me burst out laughing. However, before you throw that mic out... The buzzing noises sound like RF interference from GSM signalling (the result of a flaw in the GSM spec). So the next time you shoot a vlog with that phone and mic, try turning off mobile data on the phone. ("WAT") Yes, use WiFi only for data, leaving GSM to do just voice and SMS text. Since the data radios will be off, my guess is that will cut down on interference.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, The Salt Spring Island Ferry is a very nice ferry, It's a very nice ferry, it's the Salt Spring Island Ferry. The Salt Spring Island Ferry is a very nice ferry, It's a very nice ferry, it's ferry to Salt Spring Island!
"We're just boarding the ferry to head back, and... wait, where's Penelope? Is that... Mr. Rathbone?"
"REVENGE, REVENGE IS MINE AT LAST!"
Thank you!
You kidnapped a plush dog? And took it on adventures? Well... that's probably the least delinquent thing anyone has done in history.
Makes me think of the old CH stuff- even the graffiti is well written. The Runners were never that street!
Well, they are canadian...
Graham truly you were born to be in video production, still having access to what 20~ish year old footage.
I'm sorry but "Mr Wrathbone" is the most metal name in existance
Too metal even for MtG.
I imagine it's actually "Rathbone" considering I've seen that before. But yes, the W spelling would be amazing.
Mr. Wrathbone

Legendary Creature - Human Vice-Principal

"Your son or daughter has missed one or more classes today."
What does it say about Graham that his vice principal managed to correctly pin on him a prank from like 15 years ago?
That Graham has not changed a bit
You should invite Mr. Rathbone to make an appearance on Desert Bus. With the dog, of course, if he still has it.
Graham, LoadingReadyRun basically started from your High School experiences, face it you're the only group that can tell stories from High School and never have it be irrelevant.

I bet someone on the island sells dream catchers to protect the bees from the wii fii's
They DEFINITELY did, but we didn't buy any.
I am so glad that Mr. Rathbone was a good sport.
My experience with the Port Jefferson ferry from Long Island to Connecticut (about 30 miles?) is to agree: it feels like you've gone a lot farther when you have to use a boat to get there!

You're my kind of people. It was good meeting you all those years ago. Enjoying these vlogs.
I like how, with the music going at 0:25, it almost sounds like Baxter is rapping. Laying down the phat kitty BEATS. :P
That "mrowrow?" at the beginning was adorable!
Seeing you and your family just having good times does wonders for my own morale/outlook. Thanks man.
It's such a strange feeling seeing these vlogs and your Japan trip vlogs popping up. I get such a sincere feeling of happiness for some reason. I feel like you guys could just upload videos of pretty much anything and I would still enjoy them just as much.
The out of nowhere Twin Peaks reference was greatly appreciated.
"BC Ferries, or British Columbia Ferries"
The horse joke transcends time and space.
Love the vlogs guys! Its a fun little window into your day. Thank you so much for sharing your time!
Your filming and editing of these continues to wow me. Its definitely some of the best produced vlog stuff I've seen. Good on ya!
I just love that you have the same travel Luck that I do and just run into random person from years ago. You are extra lucky to have footage of prank played on said person though.

My lord I love your music and editing. These vlogs are great Graham!
I am loving these vlogs.
I have seen how some people improve in their skills at vlogging (including editing, compositins, choosing a topic) by making a vlog every day, or once a week, I think your skills are pretty well developed. ;)
I am fine with these only happening when you did something you felt was particularly vlog-worthy.
The new lens seems fantastic.
You know what? This makes me happy. Please keep making these videos of you just having a good life, it's really nice and relaxing to watch. ^_^
I find the timing of this video particularly hilarious because I was literally on Saltspring when this video was posted. So many things I recognize.
Now I want to go to a place I didn't know existed before. Damn you Graham Stark! (Great vlog and I can't wait until your next adventure.)
I can't explain it, but i find this video strangely calming and relaxing.
Another excellent G-Vlog, please keep them coming!
Of course a roadside fridge driven by the honor system could exist in Canada.
Because stereotypes.
Its more of a small isolated community thing, I've seen similar things in the US.
I used to buy cider out of one (not hard cider, just plain pressed apples). But then I moved to a city and can't get decent cider at all.
how isolated could it be if there main source of income is tourist? seems a bit trusting of people just visiting the island.
chosendark1 Some people probably have stolen some stuff, which is why there are web cams at some of the areas. I love these vlogs! They are so well edited. It is such good story telling :)
Oh my god, was this the inspiration for the Bartleby puppet?
Your tiny human is adorable, though it's sad that she's teething.
Also, side note, kudos on your Mel Brooks box set. I noticed it in your closet and I have the same one. No surprised you have it and it's a must for any movie collection.
Having watched the footage we are all now accomplices. And I just got done being a fugitive too. Thanks a lot. :P
I've been to Salt Spring before, but this video makes me really want to go back again. So beautiful!
(Incidentally, being annoyed with but also stuck with tourists is also the fate my home town of Kelowna, BC is stuck with.)
its the same in Penticon, and Keremeos too! though keremeos has like. way too many fruit stands.
Highly recommend the croissant from Lunn's (in Sidney). Oh, and Maria's Souvlaki (also in Sidney) makes one of the better doner/donair kebabs on the island. For future reference. We regularly make the pilgrimage from further up-island.

kirkygirl
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Damn it.
He pinned you for it cause you grew up to be notorious youtube prankster Graham Stark.
I love going back and watching your vlogs ^-^
The editing on these vlogs is amazing!
Oh man, I wanna live in a place where honor system is a thing that works! This GVlog was awesome... and full of surprises. :) 10/10
Was James in your marry band of thieves?
Sure sounds like it
I watched only for the dog story. It's so much better than I thought it would be.
I love these so much! Don't stop Graham.
Aw, I had that same snoopy stuffed animal that's behind Graham's head during his side-story as a kid. Memories.
Gotta love Saltspring. Been quite a long time since I last went there. Lovely place!
Vlog is getting better, also great choice of music.
It's a vacation blog with Penelope on the outside!
Mr Wrathbone is the most metal person ever.
I would recommend looking into the Rode Videomicro with TRS to TRRS cable for audio. You would need a shoe mount to use it but it has worked better for me than the Mic Me.
There needs to be an LRR pet Vlog / Vod / Vid
that is such an awesome story! Love that stroller too =D I need to find me one of those for my kiddos!
I am very much enjoying these vlogs! Thankyou :)
I take it this arrived now instead of a week ago because you had to find a bunch of old footage.
Good on ye for driving responsibly on windy rural roads. Over here, we are sick of tourists driving *too quickly*. The only time driving slowly is dumb is when the limit it 60 MPH and the roads are very straight.

GVLOG travel series!

On a scale of 1 to Wolfe Island Ferry, how nice was the ferry? Would you say it's a very nice ferry?
Can you just do a video of a 10min long conversation with your cat?
Love that hat, Kathleen!!!
The editing on this video is marvelous....That bathroom WAS weird...

Weird teacher stories, ya!
That island sounds and look amazing and so much honor system I would love to be in a place that trusting
Yo graham, ever been to pender island? Really nice place my family rented for two weeks right by the ferry terminal and ice cream cafe
Holy crap I totally remember PFD Dolphin from my family's Trip to Canada
Down in the USA, we would call that "cookie" a woopie pie. You can thank Maine for that masterpiece
0:35 Oh wow, Casey Neistat hair.
19:55 Perhaps plums please Penelope, parents.
22:35 Aw, your eyes match.
can i get a list of music used in this video pleased i love it
Everything on the boat is metal, and he shows us the life preserver....
The editing may be like Casey, but the way you open boxes are SO different XD
As a Florida man, I can relate to the people who are fed up with tourists. Still doesn't make any sense for either of us, but I can relate. I guess at least Volusia County (where I live) isn't quite as reliant on tourism as Salt Spring Island, I suppose.
at 11:33 I saw the insignia of the enemy.
Damn Badenzer...
I adore the title cards your using
Dudes! Please continue doing these travel videos, they are amazing :) Because you are a couple with a pretty little girl (so 0 creepyness) and both of you are kinda nerdy (compliment) it feels very natural and familiar. Cheers!
That looks like it must of been a delightful vacation
Great video, love you guys
Hate to break it to you, but you're about 11 years out from your next restful weekend
Seeing the "BUZZ", "POP", "CRACKLE" cards made me burst out laughing.

Agreed, airplane mode during a shoot would probably fix that right up.
Graham running at maximum Canadian here.
That is a FREAKIN AWESOME market. I bought a guitar there. And my wife got some really cool dragonfly ceramic mugs.
I just got back from Saltspring TODAY.
i went to there and pender island, both fantastic
PEI has a lot of the honour system trade going on, too. Island thing? Also lolololol Papyrus! XD
The reveal of the toilet made me laugh out loud.
Oh this is where they filmed the retreat episode
what was the bnb called I've never been to salt spring I might have to check it out.
+wooki72 Cedar House on the Hill, would recommend!!
cat in the first three seconds. instant Like.
Me: I want to rewatch the Salt Spring vlog. .... 4 years? that cant be true...
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,
The Salt Spring Island Ferry is a very nice ferry,
It's a very nice ferry, it's the Salt Spring Island Ferry.
The Salt Spring Island Ferry is a very nice ferry,
It's a very nice ferry, it's ferry to Salt Spring Island!
One question: Was that BnB on or near a Hellmouth? I...asking for a friend who is not me that is interested in Hellmouths.
I have never been to Ganges, or even BC, but I have the feeling that I have been in that bathroom @ 14:16.
9:21 OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, I get it!
Also, cool story. How did you hold onto that dog stealing footage?
