- Enter the magical miniature world of fungi in these time-lapses by fungi photographer Stephen Axford.
Two photographers, Steve Axford and Catherine Marciniak, only one intervalometer and a forecast of a stormy Sunday afternoon resulted in the story of a forest to go with the fabulous time-lapse photography Steve has been doing of fungi growing.
Some of the fungi in this video are luminous fungi, Mycena chlorophos, the spikey fungi is an un-named new species and the video also features Coprinus disseminatus and a yellow fungi which needs some more research.
There are also cameo performances by a trapdoor spider and a miniature slime mould.
The music for this video is "Minor Madness" by davej. We discovered this great didgeridoo track on triplej Unearthed and davej has generously allowed us to set our images to his composition. www.reverbnatio...
Loved this video , the music blended perfect with the mushrooms . Really liked the tiny spider riding that mushroom to the top ,he was probably so high he couldn’t come down .

DaveJ a long time ago now. He was a DJ who gave us permission to use it and we gave him permission to use the clip at his gigs.

Amazing to watch these time-lapses of mushroom growth - I am just wondering why, in certain cases shown at 1:34 and 1:43, 1:45, etc, certain mushrooms appear to 'take-off' while many little ones at their feet do not appear to grow at all?
It could be just that the larger ones had enough moisture around their feet to mature snd the others didn’t. Conditions fo need to be just right.

Yes Stephen has been experimenting with this ... lichen particularly is stunningly beautiful under UV. Bio fluorescence opens up a whole new way of seeing the world.

Hi Mirko - thanks for your comment. This is a very old video for us now. Very much the early days of our experimentation with time-lapsing fungi growing. These days we work in 5K-7K with most time-lapses included in 4K productions such as recent ones you can find here on our UA-cam channel ua-cam.com/users/planetfungi or at www.planetfungi.movie We hope you enjoy them.
