10:30 glad to hear someone is Sponsoring the Kids Corral!
Ryan is my son-in-law!! We are so proud of him!!!
Maybe some insulated waders for his birthday would be appreciated😅. Cowboy tough!
Thank you my friend. Awesome job reporting.
I am constantly trying to explain this to cattlemen here, but this has been the best analogy to explain why we need cash and competition in the markets. Thank you
You need to make a calendar with these amazing photos. They are awesome
Thank you for explaining. Never thought of some of the obvious things around us.
Hotty Toddy Corbitt! Hope you got down to the square last night and had a couple of drinks!
What about the Canadian 25% tarrifs. It's 20% of our market
Relax-tarrifs are what the rest of the world used against us the last fifty years to Hollow out our manufacturing sector and rural communities . Do you want everything to keep going the way it has or do you want our government to try different things to make our country better in the long run
How does the cme inforce cash settlement ?
What does a person do if the local barn patrons don't want to pay what bred heifers are worth? How many years does a person keep trying and trying to sell then at the local barn... Trying to support the local barn? Very frustrating.
Does a person just sell privately online?
Probably not a bad idea. F book has a marketplace as a matter of fact. Streetsmarts are a must have online.
Go to another sale barn. Or provide what the market demands. Black. Smokey. Baldie. Tick of ear
Cattle business would look a lot like the hogs without sale barns and competitive bidding. 😕
How does every other industry do price discovery? Not every tractor or vehicle is sold by auction.
Through other types of competition and supply and demand in industries that aren’t monopolies or virtual monopolies.
In the industries that are virtual monopolies like the cattle industry and grocery stores, for example, where Wal Mart and a couple of other companies have virtually all of the market share, price discovery goes something like this:
The supplier and consumer are both squeezed by the big companies, not to mention any mom and pop stores that are still in existence, and price on both ends are determined by chipping away at their counterparts until the suppliers can barely survive at their current price level, the consumer can barely afford the product, and the employees are paid just enough so they don’t quit but little enough that they can still get government entitlements (so all of the taxpayers get to subsidize their payroll).
The reason many of us like auction markets is that it’s a vital check against monopolistic, coercive, and collusive behavior. Auctions aren’t a cure-all by any stretch of the imagination, but they help.

Been building my bulls rations for years
Are the Mexican feeder cattle going to be hit with tariffs? 25 percent would put them out of reach.
Yes!
…would be tragic.
